The Caulfield Cup is run this Saturday, as always a tough open race,

Lucia Valentina is the favourite, the former NZ trained horse is flying
and is the one to beat, it is Caulfield though and with her style of racing
a lot of Luck is needed, the main danger appears to be the Japanese Raider BANDE
who will more than likely attempt an all-the-way Victory,

of the horses sitting near the pace Lidari, Brambles, and Rising Romance have a Chance,

I've Backed Stipulate to Win, he's at Big Odds and could provide the Surprise Packet of the Race.

The Other Japanese Raider Admire Rakti is Likely to Get Back and Run On along with
    Moriarty, The Offer and Hawkespur.

    Japan Takes The Cup !

the early Morning withdrawl of the Noted Front Running Bande caused for a slightly
messy Cup, Admire Rakti and Lucia Valentina made their runs out very wide rounding
the corner, while Stipulate tried for a centre split and couldn't get through.

Rising Romance and Brambles got freakish inside runs and looked likely to fight it out
    at one stage.

    1st: Admire Rakti
    2nd: Rising Romance
    3rd: Lucia Valentina
    4th: Brambles

the Irish Raider Adelaide Takes the Cox Plate !

defeating Last Year's Caulfield Cup Winner Fawkner, Adelaide stormed to Victory
with an impressive wide surge from the rear of the pack

a little memento from the occasion...

    it's Derby Day !

the Big 4 Day Carnival Kicks Off today, there's a Hot Favourite in the Derby, The
Sydney Horse Hampton Court, Preferment and Bondeiger have a chance along with
Atmosphere and MoonoverManhattan, I'll be Backing San Padre also at the Huge Odds,
he looks a true Stayer and the longer distance of the Derby may just show that.

Preferment beats Bondeiger to Win the Derby !
third in the race was Nozomi, the trifecta paid huge thanks to Nozomi,
who at it's previous start had narrowly beaten Preferment and won the Derby Trial.
you had to put it in,
San Padre got home well from near last on the corner to finish 6th just behind them.

    it's Cup Day !

the aim, to nab the ulta difficult Trifecta, The Main chances are..

Amire Rakti: a huge run in the Caulfield Cup:
Lucia Valentina: an equally Good run, today's distance some query though
Protectionist: the German Visitor, I Backed him early at Huge Odds
Cavalryman: I backed him early, he's my Best result, there is a slight injury
cloud over him and he'll have to prove his fitness to the stewards this morning.

the horses who'll race up on the speed and prove hard to beat:

Fawkner: he won last year's Caulfield Cup, although he came from a clear last in
this race last year, he's more likely to race handy this time.

    The UK Raiders:

Mutual Regard: a Tough On-Pacer who should stay out the trip
Ambivalent: He's the Likely Leader of the Race, he's at Huge odds, he actually has
close to the best credentials in the race up to 2400m, is he ready for 2 Miles ?
Gatewood: Again has Very Good Form, the start for him is Crucial, he's drawn out
extremely wide and may and must attempt to cross over the entire field and sit
    outside Ambivelent.

and the Roughies that could make the Trifecta pay Well:

Signoff: actually he's one of the favourites, not for me though.
Araldo: a Huge run in the Caulfield Cup
    Lidari: Racing Well
    Junoob: also Racing Well

and yes folks, i left out Red Cadeaux, the Roughie that won me the Trifecta in this race
on two occasions, he's just totally out of form, i'll see if i can sneak him
into third place on the day.

    it's Oaks Day !

i've backed Crafty all along, she looks to be the true stayer of the bunch,
Go Indy Go should also run on well out now to the the longer distance of the Oaks.

Set Square Takes the Oaks, a bit of an upset result for most. the trainer
Robbie Smerdon who had three of the fav's including Crafty couldn't even get one into
the top 5, the winner wasn't even entered for the race until just recently.. that's Racing.

    it's Stakes Day !

The Emirates Stakes should be exciting with The Cleaner set to Run today,
he loves to lead and often by huge margins, the English Horse Contributor is
the favourite, he won a slowly run 2000m race early in the carnival, today's
Mile race will be something else, I'm Backing Leebaz, Bullpoint and Hooked
to beat them, i'll Include Rhythm to Spare and Speediness for the placings.

Hucklebuck beats Lucky Hussler to take out the Emirates Stakes,
it was the Sprinters who fought out the Finish ! Hooked and Leebaz ran ok just
    behind them.

    Japan Cup Day Today !

Should be a Super Race with chances aplenty, Harp Star heads the market after her
Great run in the The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Gentildona winner of the past 2
Japan Cups aims for a third and newcomer Isla Bonita who ran a Good Second last start
beating home Gentildona is high up in the market, Spielberg who stormed home to beat them
both home last start must be a chance, he raced against the best in Japan prior to an
injury layoff of almost 2 years, looking at the way he won last time, he's back.
and Just a Way rated the best horse in the World surprised me with his Good run in
The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last month is a Top Contender, he won the race Spielberg
recently won, last year beating Gentidona also.

I've backed the Irish Horse Trading Leather at the Good odds. not really a prolific Winner
although he did win the Irish Derby last year, his form is better than it reads, he beat
Both the the English Derby horses home in seperate races a little while back, they then
fought out the St Leger, and at his latest outing he ran third to the French Derby winner
with the Champion Australia running Second, we saw the French Derby placegetter finish
alongside Harp Star and Just a Way recently in Paris along with the St Leger Winner who
    finished 4th in Paris,

and i've backed the Japan Derby horses Epiphaneia and One and Only who are both at Big Odds
also, Even Ivanhowe goes around today, he disappointed me in Paris but did go home to
Germany and win a Big Race after that.

    What a RACE !

It's International Day This Sunday at Sha Tin with the Running
of the Hong Kong Vase as well as the Hong Kong Cup.

the Vase is the Race to watch, at the head of the Market is
Flintshire, a top hope after his placing in he Prix de l'Arc de
Triomphe recently, evergreen Red Cadeaux gives it another tilt
after his Win a couple of years ago,

the track suits the speedsters and Curren Mirrotic if allowed to
lead will be a Real chance in the Race, he has run some really Good
races in Japan against the likes of Epiphaneia and Gold Ship.

and the German Horse Empoli is the Value Bet of the race, he has
run well against the likes of Ivanhowe and other Derby Hopefuls
back in Germany, his Outside Barrier Draw will make it difficult
for him to gain a position in the race though.

also on the Card is the Cup a really wide open affair over the 10
furlong distance, Archimedes and Designs on Rome look to have real
    Good Chances

The Grand Prix of Japan will be run this weekend and many of the Big
Guns from the Cup are Back again, Epiphaneia is the one to beat after
his huge win in the Cup along with Japan's Favourite horse Gold Ship

again the barrier draws will play their part, Just a Way who drew the
inside barrier in the Cup and ran a Good second now has the outside
draw along with Epiphaneia and Gold Ship. for Gold Ship the draw suits
as he's going to get back anyway.

The 2 Value runners in the race could be One And Only who has drawn
well this time, he wasn't too far from the placegetters in the Cup,
and also Fenomeno who drew a very wide barrier in the Cup and ran well.

    *
a litte update on my thoughts for the race, i've checked out some
of the up and comers and i'll be having something on both Lachesis
and Last Impact as well as putting them in the Trifecta.

Lachesis is an interesting runner, it's drawn Very Well in the Race
and is at Huge Odds, she races up near the pace and quite often is
strongest on the line, her best result was her latest when winning
the QE2 Cup, the horse she beat in the QE2 was last year's Oaks Champ,
that's not bad form considering the 2nd Horse in the Oaks Harp Star
would just about be favourite for this race if she ran.

also worth noting is that the regular Rider of Lachesis has been
replaced Cristian Demuro, Lachesis's regular rider Yuga Kawada
will now partner Epiphaneia for the first time.
