    Default Thoroughbred Racing

The Big Races are Just around the Corner !

pictured is Shamus Award as he crosses the line first in one of our biggest races
last Spring, the Cox Plate, one of my best results of the year. after being placed
in the Caulfield Guineas, Shamus Award is the favourite for the Australian Guineas
    next month

The Autumn Stakes will be Run on Saturday, heading the lineup are the Vic Derby Winner
Polanski and Placegetter Thunder Fantasy, and a horse which i backed last week to win
the Australian Guineas next Month, Late Charge !! yep Late Charge is Back after his
unlucky run in the Caulfield Guineas in the Spring, i backed him at 50-1 to win the
Aus Guineas and now he's into 20-1, i also backed San Diego early at 25-1.

in Saturday's Race he's at 4-1 in the sprint race, a Good race to watch with the
staying types returning to racing, might be worth watching Bring Something at 16-1
in Saturday's race too, he beat Late Charge home last spring in a lead-up race.

in Racing news Late Charge ran a great race yesterday considering the slow pace
of the race and extra ground he was forced to cover, he has firmed further in Guineas
calculations and is now into 16-1, the derby placegetter thunder fantasy won the race.

    today's the Big One !

Australian Guineas Day at Flemington, a spacious track with a long straight.
the three horses at the top of the market are Eurozone, Hucklebuck and Shamus Award,
Eurozone and Shamus returned in an open sprint race, the next six or so horses in
the market all finished behind Hucklebuck at their last outing, of those Criterion and
Prince Harada could take a hand, and then there's Late Charge who with Thunder Fantasy
ran the placings in their return race.

in Late Charge's favour is the track, compared to the tight-turning Mooney Valley where
he ran last time Flemington is huge and if the pace is on he could well figure.

    Shamus does it again !!

straight to the front and just too Good, the pace, slower than i could have imagined
Late Charge ran a super race, not happy with the pace the jockey took him forward to
midfield and he raced well off the fence covering more ground than anyone, amazing he
finished as close as he did,

Criterion and Thunder Fantasy ran well,
i managed to get the trifecta and Won but the Big collects were riding on Late Charge !

    1st: Shamus Award
    2nd: Criterion
    3rd: Thunder Fantasy

    Australian Cup day today !

the three Big Guns from last spring's Cox Plate are running, Fiorente, Shamus Award and Foreteller

Thunder Fantasy gets his chance at the longer 2000m distance to run Shamus down and the two
Hickmott horses ran ok last time behind Fiorente, Green moon the 2012 Melb Cup winner
and Good old Mourayan who returned better than ever just losing to Fiorente last time,
interesting that the trainer of those two has advised his horses will be Going Forward
in today's race, a little warning to Shamus Award.

a bigger track, a longer straight, can Shamus Award hold them off ? will the Hickmott
runners help to make the race for Fiorente ?

i'll be having a little something on ' Voleuse De Coeurs at 30-1, he's having his first run back after his run in the Melbourne Cup, he came to Australia for that race after winning the Irish St Leger by Six lengths & beating Red Cadeaux who we know almost beat Fiorente in
the Cup, he definitely will need the Pace on in today's race.

Racing moves to Sydney from here on in

Today's Big One sees Fiorente up against the Kiwi It's A Dundeel, a watch
race for me with the Big Riches a few weeks away, The Speed will be set by the
Queen's Horse Carlton House, Fiorente's Stablemate.

Carlton house set a cracking speed and looked to have the race won but the kiwi,
and not the one most expected upet the apple Cart, Silent Achiever got there in
    the very last stride.

    Rosehill Guineas day today !

one of the Classics, the rains have set in making it a bit tricky to predict the outcome,
Shamus Award heads the weights though he isn't favored now, the Kiwi Puccini,
Dissident and Teronado are the favourites.

Late Charge was taken out of the race yesterday leaving me with bets on Thunder Fantasy
at the Good Odds along with Tupac Amaru.

Criterion wins the Guineas, the track aided him with an extra lucky inside run on
the corner while Thunder Fantasy rounded the entire field in the heavy going.

    1st: Criterion
    2nd: Thunder Fantasy
    3rd: Teronado

    Golden Slipper day today !

we have a hot Favourite Earthquake and a wide open race apart from her,
you have to stick but we know that this is the final, the field is much larger,
and the pace will be hectic this time, she led last time, she won't lead this time.
Oakleigh Girl will more than likely lead,

of the horses who may finish on strong i'm putting in Cornrow, Mossfun, Ghibellines,
Jabali and Bring Me the Maid.

in the staying event of the Day the Big Guns are at it again in the BMW, Fiorente
is favourite again after the poor run last time, itsa Dundeel the Danger and last start
winner Silent Achiever well favoured to beat them again also.
this time there's no frontrunner which gives the kiwis a big advantage.

or does it, last time it was a 1/2 $ million race the next two total 6 million in
    prizemoney.

i've backed Voleuse De Coeurs to win the Sydney Cup in a few weeks and i'll be having
a little on her in todays race hoping she finishes off well today with that race in mind.

Mossfun wins the Slipper in Style !

    1st: Mossfun
    2nd: Earthquake
    3rd: Bring me the Maid

and Silent Achiever did it again, the kiwis were too Good, too nippy, Fiorente improved
to run third, but the run of its'a Dundeel to come from well behind those two and grab
second off Fiorente was awesome, Voleuse De Coeurs ran on fairly only.
let's hope Mourayan runs in the cup and puts some pace in the race

racing moves to Royal Randwick this weekend and the barrier draw is out for the Derby !
my early bets were placed a while back, on Thunder Fantasy, Tupac Amaru and Savvy Nature

tricky dicky Criterion has improved of late plus he has the coveted rails draw now.

Criterion wins the Derby in the slush !

Tupac ran a great race, he made his move early rounding the turn,
i think if he had have cut the corner as the other two did he would have won.
still, the trifecta paid very well as it turned out !

    1st: Criterion
    2nd: Tupac Amaru
    3rd: Hooked
    4th: Savvy Nature

    Sydney Cup Day today !

a tricky race with several chances many facing the two miles for the first
time, i've backed Voleuse De Coeurs to win all along, let's hope she can run
a Good race, Derby winners or placegetters hardly ever run in the Cup but
Tupac Amaru is giving it a go after his great run last week.
The Offer and Setorius are Good Chances also along with Who Shot thebarman,
Brigantin and Epingle. Mourayan decided to run in the Easter Cup in melbourne
    and not this race.

in the Big One, The Queen Elizabeth Stakes, The Queen's Horse Carlton House
has been the favourite for a while now until Itsa Dundeels's slashing run last
time and he's the new favourite, i'll be banking on him and Royal Descent to run
top races, Silent Achiever is attempting to win the three big ones and Hawkespur
has a chance of figuring also.

it was a favourite's Sydney Cup with the offer winning.

and in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes the Queen's Horse Carlton House
set a scintillating Speed with the field chasing all the way, but it was that
final sprint we saw a glimpse of a couple of weeks ago by Its'a Dundeel that
    Won the day !

    S A Derby day today !

not as clear cut as the Sydney and Melbourne versions, Order of The Sun ran a top
race last time in the VIc St Leger leading all the way and winning by a long way,
of the local lead up races Scratchy Bottom is highly fancied now
i'm going to have a few bets on the bigger odds horses based on their earlier runs
against the Good Sydney and Melb Form.

'Bring Something' who was consistantly running well against late charge. also
'Best Case' who ran well in the Derby, 'Kushadasi' the local and a little on
'Surge ahead' who i gave some hope back in the melb races, he's at very bigg odds now.

Will Order of the Sun be able to lead All the way ! lets find out.

    1st: Kushadasi
    2nd: Scratchy Bottom
    3rd: Best Case

up North today ! it's Queensland Derby day.

i think the Filly Rock Diva is the one to beat, chances also to Vilanova
and Pinstripe Lane and i'll be putting in Rudy and Elusive Runner as place chances
    for the trifecta.

in a surprise result Sonntag won the derby, my main hopes filled the placings
as for Rock Diva, lets just say she should have won by 20 yards at least,
    unbelievable ! i'll post a replay when i get a chance.

    1st: Sonntag
    2nd: Pinstripe Lane
    3rd: Vilanova
    4th: Rock Diva

maybe not quite 20 yards xD, none the less she was restrained to a standstill
on a couple of occasions leading up to the corner with the jockey persisting
for inside runs. she's in the yellow with black & white chequed sleeves & cap.
