    The time has finally come!
For the first time I will try to install FreeBSD on my PowerMac G4... wish me luck!

I plan to boot the system from the CD, then use gpart to partition disks (sysinstall cannot partition disks with apple layout, remember that FreeBSD PowerPC is locked in the Tier 2 state, that is, it is not fully supported).

I suspect that this installation will be quite of a challenge, since majority of my Open Firmware knowledge has already been swapped out and I never really mastered FreeBSD on x86 in the first place.

EDIT: But hey, I never really mastered anything anywhere, so nothing new here

Eh, it failed. I experienced random kernel panics in OS X, now I could not get past the phase of copying of OS to the hard drive, seems like everything is flaky. And it was such a nice day! I will try to install ubuntu (6.06 LTS PPC version), and if that fails, then...

True. But hey, experience counts - at least I can say that I tried to install FreeBSD on a Powermac.
Btw 6.06 LTS works, and that makes me wonder, coz if the hardware is flaky, how could it work? I simply won`t bother anymore, I don`t have any use for it anyway.

One year on and One race Early, Caulfield Cup day today and the French Champs line up again,
Winners of the previous 2 Melbourne Cups Americain and Dunaden head the weights for today's cup.
both have drawn wide barriers are a bit of out of form and more suited by the longer race in a few weeks,
still you have to stick with them.

Here's my strategy.. the two main hopes on recent form, December Draw, and a roughie, Sneak a Peek
other hopes.. Glencadam Gold the leader and Favourite (bad barrier, up in class)

Place chances: GATEWOOD, MY QUEST FOR PEACE, Niwot, Winchester
Rough Place chances: Voila Ici, JAKKALBERRY, Lights of Heaven

My Main Chances: December Draw, Sneak a Peek, Dunaden, Americain, GATEWOOD, Glencadam Gold

well Dunaden did it, and there's Americain right behind him, a Great fourth, Darn Alcopop, if it wasn't
for him running second i would have cleaned up,. still i won on the Day.

    Cup Day Cometh...

check this out, so i picked up a 1st issue of an Australian Super Hero Comic from 1981 the other day and tried
searching for info about it, being the 1st edition i thought it might have some value and plus according to
the editor it was the first one of it's kind around here, Nothing, can't find a thing about it, only about the
editor Richard Rae who apparently now deals in and sells expensive Comic Art, I Wonder if Richard still has a few
or anyone else for that matter.. It Must be Worth Something man !

    .
all i could find over the last couple of days was this forum topic from last month referring to Richard the
    editor and Artist:

    Question for Richard Rae http://www.statueforum.com/showthread.php?p=4418320

Well it's Cup Day today !

what's happened since Dunaden's win in the Caulfield Cup, Alcopop has gone on to win
the Mackinnon Stakes, one of the top WFA Races around this time, The biggest wfa race
was won by Ocean park who ran third to Alcopop in the Mackinnon stks the other day.
both those don't run this time.

The French champs are heavily favoured now, Americaine is in to Clear favourite
at 5-1 compared to the 20-1 the other week and Dunaden equal second pick with Mt Athos,
this year's race is the highest quality of all time and it won't be so easy for Dunaden
    and co for sure..
i placed early bets on Ethiopia and Red Cadeaux the other week, Red Cadeaux who ran second last
year(thanks Red Cadeaux) hasn't raced for a while and Ethiopia ran well in the Cox Plate behind
Ocean Park both have some chance.

there are plenty of chances really, a few of the main ones..

Americaine and Dunaden of course, Mount Athos, not sure but i'll throw him in anyway
My Quest for peace and Lights of Heaven ran well in the Caulfield Cup so they get a chance,
along with Ethiopia and Red Cadeaux

the second string of chances are Maluckyday who ran 2nd to Americaine a couple of years ago and
a fav of mine Mourayan, Mourayan doesn't race that often but he has some good points about
him, last year he ran second in the Mackinnon stks behind Glass Harmonium, which Alcopop won this year
beating Glass Harmonium, bypassed the Melbourne Cup and then almost won the Sandown Stks just losing to
Americaine, since then he's only had a few starts winning last time in Sydney, he's at big odds and he's
a strong front runner, the top chances are backmarkers. the last front runner to win was might and power
who i mentioned a few pages back, Maluckyday is that trainer's replacement champ and races in his colours.

very rough chances also to Jakkalberry and Winchester

    9 out of 23 ain't bad.. let's do it!!

well at least i got a bit of a buzz as Mouryan loomed up to hit the front topping the straight,
everyone's still searching for the backmarkers though, as for the winner, you remember how
Americain and Dunaden weren't highly favoured until recently? yes, Green Moon was favoured
to win for weeks on end until his inglorious run the other week, how could you put him to win
now, what's worse is it was he who immediately pounced on Mourayan in identical racing silks.

So was i on the mark, one Big Race left this Season, i mentioned Mourayan almost winning the Sandown
Stakes behind Americain last year and that was part of why i gave him a top chance in this years
Melbourne Cup, actually the Sandown Stakes is now Called the Zipping Classic, i knew that, i Just
hated Zipping the horse, always favoured, never won, and always went on to win the Sandown Stakes, he
won 4 years in a row. he raced in the same silks as Mourayan and Green Moon also.

and this year.. Mourayan is the Hot Favourite for the Sandown Stakes, and Like Zipping, i want him to
lose now, i'll bank on Dame Claire taking him on in front and either Exceptionally or Precedence
    to run him down.

well folks Zipping made a return to the track today to lead this year's field out for the
Sandown Stakes, Mourayan as expected started the hottest of favourites, Dame Claire did
take him on in front which left him a sitting duck for Exceptionally and Precedence who looked
like they would fight the race out until Tanby in the (zipping/Green Moon/Mourayan/Tanby) Silks
got there to beat them both with Mourayan finishing fourth.

CarlosInOZ, this thread has become your blog no problem with me, at least I know now about Sarah Blasko (quality music, for real, its nice hearing something actually good). Perhaps you should introduce us to her some more (in a seperate thread, of course ), about horse racing, you might want to do this in another thread too... or perhaps your blog here? Just let us know in advance, at least I will be happy to read it.

EDIT: oh yes, regarding the comic, I would save it for later times if I were you - 1981 seems too close for a thing as common as a comic to acquire any substantial value. Of course, I might be wrong, but if you decide to keep it, do take care and keep it in a good condition.
