I dont do this often (bumping old threads) but....this is the only one I found about books.

    so....WAT U GUYZ REEDIN!!?!?!

I recently read "The Lone Survivor" which is a first hand account of Operation Redwing, written by the only Navy Seal to survive the mission.

Best book I ever read, a tear jerker though. But an amazing story of human strength, and the bond between Soldiers. A film adaptation is said to be in the works, if they stick to the book, it could be quite a film.

And the other was "The Last Mountain Man" which is a western story. Follows a boy named Kirby Jensen, as a grows up, and becomes the feared outlaw Smoke Jensen. Its not the most complex of reads, but it has action, humor, excitement, and sadness. Very good book.

    Oh my... there's a books-thread?

I was looking for some kind of thread either how I could miss it?

The last book I read was "The book thief" by Markus Zusak - a really touching novel about a girl in Nazi-Germany... and the special on this book was the narrator - Death! But no the Death people always imagine.. a Death who doesn't like his work, who is more haunted by it... It made me cry... and became one of my favourite books...

And I also read Animal farm a while ago a really must-read in my opinion...

so here are some of favourite books (there are a lot more I like and adore but if I would write all it would be too much so here are just a few of them):

ok my No. 1 isn't hard to guess -> Harry Potter 1-7 by JK Rowling

    other favourites (no ranking):

    • Travel around the world in 80 days by Jules Verne
    • The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
    • Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt
    • Nowhere in Africa (Nirgendwo in Afrika) by Stefanie Zweig
    • Angels & Demons by Dan Brown
    • Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
    • A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini (better than "The Kite Runner" in my opinion)
    • All Quiet on the Western Front (Im Westen nichts Neues) by Erich Maria Remarque
    • Naked Among Wolves (Nackt unter Wölfen) by Bruno Apitz
    • The Diary of a Young Girl/Anne Frank
    • Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
    • 1984 by George Orwell
    • Making history by Stephen Fry
    • Atonement by Ian McEwan
    • Twilight (but I have to admit I lost my enthusiasm for this saga a bit)
    • Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
    • Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle
    • Hercule Poirot novels by Agatha Christie
    • Frankenstein (even if I have a really lousy german translation of it )

I remember reading this as a kid, it seemed quite brutal at the time.

I have never got myself to read "classics" (such as Orwells and Frankenstein mentioned above) although I have kind of wanted to. Maybe later.

I have read many regular thrillers, such as those by Robert Ludlum, Dan Brown and John Grisham. I also read historic books and biographies, most latest being about Lauri Törni. But its likely uninteresting to anyone outside Finland.
