Good idea and cool photo Steve. Where's that from? Colorado? What camera(s) are you using?

Here's one I took 1,5 months ago on a cycling trip in Helsinki.

I talked about a photography thread a while back, but never got around to making one because I did'nt get my camera yet. Well, I have my Canon 30D now and I, ofcouse, think this thread is a great idea

When you guys post a photo, though, please include the details of the pic: where, when, and seetings used . . . and any other additional info you deem appropriate .

Steve, your photo is nice, and in those settings, sometimes a close up of those wheels would make for a great composition!

Petsku, love those types of shots . . . but in those situations, try to take different compositions: try to make the sky show mostly in the water . . . which means panning the camera down to take in more of the water, than of the actual sky . . . usually, if there would be a boat in the foreground, it would be considered "the shot." A real pleasure.

Ill try to get in some photos soon.

See you all in couple days. . .

In my photo I used the basic/ automatic settings. I seldom tend to use anything else but the automatic settings with that cam ( Canon Powershot A85, I know it's old but im buying a new cam this summer). The other cam I use sometimes is my brother's cam Canon EOS Kiss Digital N.

Also thanks for the hint Orion but I'm afraid the panning would have only make the photo worse cos of the poor cam and the darkness in the water close the bridge.

They aren't from one place. 4 different locations.

1st is from backdoor of my mom's house.

2nd and 3rdw is from "sunset lake" which is near my own apartment (my house is surrounded by two lakes and sea. The northern I call "sunset lake" the eastern is "sunrise lake", and the sea is in west (and to the south too, but much further and there's city center before it)).

4th photo is from lake near by my mon's place. That was very cold night (umm... or was it sunrise ? I mighta been up all night...). THere's some nice fog on the other side of the lake (actually, it's the same side... but it's not so obvious in the photo).

5th is from my city. Taken from one bridge that leads to one of the dozens small islands in the sea (tho, I don't think it's salty water in that yet, most likely still river water). Taken toward city (the center would be somewhere left, maybe behind those trees).

6th and 7th is again from my "sunset lake".

Umph... does not everyone know where I live.

Well, "my city" is Oulu in Northern Finland (if you look it from map, it's on coast at the center off Finland... but it's still officially northern Finland ).

The other town is in eastern Finland (the closest "big" city is Kuopio which might be able to find from map).

Yep cool ones Ronny, liked especially the "nuclear explosion".

Let's continue with some scenery photos.

View to downtown Helsinki from a bridge near to my apartment. Taken in April 06.

July 06, Suomenlinna (an old seafortress) in the front of Helsinki, photo of a Sailboat from the 19th century.

July 06, a dam near Rovaniemi (north of Finland).
