i picked up a Jvc Everio Video camera on Monday for twenty five bucks, sure the hard drive doesn't work, but i
figured out that if you switch to SDHC memory Card recording it works Perfect till i can order a Zif Hard Drive,
now i see that these can record the Moon in Great Detail which would have come in handy on saturday night ofcourse
you can pick up 4 or 5 of these Jvc's for the cost of upgrading my still camera to the HD model and even with those
benefits i'm not sure it could get these results.. expect some nice moon shots in the coming weeks

    Nikon D800 dpreview score: 82

    http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikon-d800-d800e/

Like I figured, the camera is amoung the best! Maybe ergonomics and the LCD are an issue, but I think it deserved a better mark than 82. Ofcourse, you need a lens lineup capable of handling all the resolution. . . . The 5DmkIII is still waiting its turnf ro a review but I still saythat the mkIII is the best all round camera from sports to event photography (weddings, concerts, etc). It has the sweet spot of resolution, and great ergonomics to boot.

    other review between both cameras

and a tripod too, although it also serves as a still camera it's no ways as easy to work with as mine.

[News] Canon SLRs Used for Stunts and Action in Marvel’s The Avengers

Canon SLRs are known for their high quality video and that did not go unnoticed by the videographers behind the latest box office smash hit “Marvel’s The Avengers.” The Canon EOS 5D MKII and the EOS 7D were selected as the stunt and action cameras that shot the outrageous scenes. The Canon cameras were perfect for capturing “intense action and visual effects” which “required close-quarter action work with unrepeatable stunts.”

    and. . .

The Making of an Epic Solar Eclipse Photo

    • Michael Zhang · May 30, 2012

Of the photographs that emerged after the recent solar eclipse on May 20th, there aren’t many that are more epic than the “Ring of Fire” photo captured by Michael Chow of The Arizona Republic.
In an interview with Dallas News, Chow reveals that the photograph was birthed rather spontaneously. Shooting the eclipse in Phoenix’s Papago Park — a hiking area he knows well — Chow noticed a group of people standing on a butte a quarter mile away.
He parked his car, ran across some desert, and snapped the photograph using a Canon 1D Mark IV and 400mm lens at 1/6400 — all while doing his best to avoid looking at the sun directly.

The cheapest entry level Nikon beats the best full frame Canon.

Possible EOS 3D FF ultra MP camera testing

New Full Frame Camera in Testing [CR1]

    • June 6, 2012

    The Big Megapixel Camera
According to Northlight, they’ve been told a new full frame camera in a “1D” form factor is being tested in Asia.
We have heard similar things in the last few weeks, unfortunately without any sort of specifications or features of the camera(s). I am told, that they are not the 1D X or the 1D C.
We’ve had from two separate places that a large megapixel camera is on the horizon. It was said that such a product could come “sooner than you’d think”.

(They are also comming out with a mirrorless camera, that is rumored to be announced in June. . . . and more announcements this summer too.
Lastly, a new rebel is being announced this Friday, with touch screen and AF similar to 5DmkIII)

    Here’s the Canon EOS Rebel T4i/650D & EF-S 18-135 IS STM
    • June 6, 2012

    The New Rebel
Here’s a picture of the new Canon EOS Rebel T4i/650D.
The lens on the camera is not the new rumoured 18-135 IS with a silent AF motor. Below that is a picture with the new EF-S 18-135 IS STM (silent motor).
There are no confirmed specs at this time, we expect those soon.

    Canon EF 40 f/2.8 Pancake
    • June 6, 2012

    Here it is
Here’s a photo of the upcoming Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 Pancake lens. It looks like it has a 52mm filter thread, so this thing really is tiny!
    What’s a pancake lens?
I still get this question a bunch, so here’s a great article from B&H about the little lenses.
