Hi fans!

I've just finished encoding and uploading the videos of yesterday's interview, on FunTV! Great interview!! But I had to compress a bit more ... 8 AVI files for the different parts of the interview, 184 Mb total, resolution 512x384. The original mpeg2 file is 1Gb long ! (and obviously, is not online!)

codec : Divx mpeg4 Low Motion

download "transition1" (it's the shortest) and test it first!

Excellent work R. Spark, though there does appear to be a lip sync problem when I play the files. I've tried Media Player, DivX Player and WinDVD and there is always a short time delay of about one second between Alizée speaking and hearing her voice.

for those of you who have DSL even if you do not have a static IP Address, you can use you computer as an FTP server. You will need Windows 2000 or later and a little program called WinIP.



You will be able to run your system as an FTP server so others can download your file; of course it still goes back to traffic limitations but at least the file goes somewhere.

John Doe, I believe your file should be the same as mine (even the size is the same). If you don't have a problem with traffic limits, maybe you could run an FTP server from your machine. Then somone else could download it and redistribute it.

The latest technotrend drivers allow direct recording in MPEG2 (no conversions needed).

They're not exactly new. They're over a year old, I think. But they give you a choice of formats. If you're using the Technotrend drivers, check the recording options. It'll let you record just audio as well, if you like.

sorry I don't understand your question ... I already have uploaded some raw mpeg2 videos (some are online), but 1 Gb is far too much for the ftp capacity I have until now.



I still think that some people will be interested by the new encoded version (200 Mb long), so for those : be a little more patient... :wink:

bbbbbbasjahjhh.... I'm getting the shivers here.. Convert perfectly good mpeg2 to .avi?? I don't wanna do that, but IF I wanted to. I would use use DVD2AVI to make a .d2v and demultiplex the audio,

Then use VFAPIconf to make a pseudo .avi file (import the .d2v file)

Import that .avi file in virtualdub or an other encoder tool.

YES!! Keep it mpeg2! I know I'm a bit of a nag about mpeg2, but I know of no advantages to convert it to divx/xvid.. Size? Buy a DVD recorder!

The new version of the FunTv interview is on line NOW! Some fixes, but same codec and settings :

- no more audio desynchronization

- complete interview (sorry for the first version!)

- 4 chunks instead of 8. Past, Present and Future (Present is cut into two parts, just where the TV-advertisement took place... because of its bigger size, and because of provider's 100 Mb upper limit).

The chronological order of the interview, is the same order as above. It has already been downloaded and tested several times so it should be ok... :wink:



You can begin with 'present1' which is "only" 20Mb long... Check also the sizes to verify it's complete : passe=83 363 840 bytes, present1=20 611 072 bytes, present2=93 784 064 bytes, futur=31 883 264 bytes)

I downloaded the first part of the whole interview earlier today. I'm now downloading the second part. It says it will take more than 2 hours - that's with DSL!

In order to play all the videos, I have QuickTime, Real Player, Windows Media Player, Interactual Player, a DivX player, and a DVD player. I'm usually able to find one that will play any video. I hope someone comes up with a good standard and then all videos could be made according to that standard and all we'd need is one player.

I'm also thinking about getting another DVD player that will play European DVDs. I did get an 80 GB HD. Yes, Alizee is expensive.

John Doe's videos are pure MPEG2 (the same format as DVD), so any DVD software DVD player should do the job just fine. Quicktime, WMV, DivX, and Xvid, are all different interpretations of th MPEG4 format (which offers beter compresion).



Granted. She's expensive! But you'll agree, she's well worth it! :wink:



BTW, is someone translating that interview already?

Many FTP programs can resume a download, so all you need to do is rename your file to the file on my ftp site. Then download to the same directory. The FTP client will ask if you want to resume the file..

Hehe...part 1 of 2 is done, and part 2 of 2 is basically done, so we're almost there! You have to understand that perfection takes time (we have spent more hours working on this than you can imagine!); trying to find spare hours here and there is not always easy, but we're doing our best! So please be patient! :D



As a side note, the full translations of the the interview has been up for a couple of weeks, so if you're really curious, you could always look at those (though I would personally wait for the subtitles :wink: ); I posted the link elsewhere, but I can post it again if people want. So to sum it all up: a little patience, please! :wink:

You completely missed the point. They were rather large files in total and R. Spark most likely took them down because of bandwidth issues. They're not going to leave the files up there to suit your needs. Find them somewhere else.
