Since i have been able to actually read what Alizee sings in the English versions of her songs, the nasty feeling begins to rise that this can't be taken very serious.
I don't want to be rude, because i like them anyway, but none of the songs make sense in English.
I do see that she is trying to be poetic, but it just comes off as nonsense, and i don't think any person from England or America will take this serious. I've already heard people describe "I'm fed up!" As a joke, but now that we can actually read the text, it becomes painfully clear that they really are hilarious and terrible, as far as the text goes.
Short lines like: "I Lazy 'round", "My Uncle overstressed", "Legs up for hours", "I'm foamely ecstatic"
The words don't exist in this context, and even in slang or poetic freedom they don't make any sense becaue they sound like English words put together without thinking about what it meens, or if it makes sense.
I admit that the other songs are somewhat more correct, and we can understand that Amelie is Alizee's angel, and that she wants to have fun before she is too old in I'm not twenty!
But Youpidoo is either romantic nonsense or a sleazy song about sex and blowjobs covered in poetry. My personal idea about Youpidoo is that she describes some sort of a failed romance, because he wants to posses her, and can't live without her worshipping her.
Either way... In all the songs the lines are just lines, and don't have any real connection. If you read them out loud, you almost start to laugh about how it all sounds very mysterious, sensual and romantic, but have no real meaning or understanding.
Now, i still like the songs, but i see the English versions as a small extra, but not as songs that stand out on their own in any way. And i'm just glad she didn't try this joke with Moi Lolita.
