Language - yes, I'm - not. Simply I've asked this question in one russian board and copy&paste here too. So, are there any interlease killing filters to fix videos? There are some players that show these clips OK, but I’d like to make changes inside MPEG2 file to be able to playback OK using any player.

Bad quality of the clip is not a problem of SS1 card. I think it's a problem of low quality MPEG2 stream of mcm channel on Astra. All MTV channels are even lower quality, but there are some german channels like RTL or Premiere with quality very high (like in that 150Mb clip) but sadly they don't show our princess :-(

Aku, FTP is not my choice either. Just it’s more "compatible" coz there is no need for special software on client side. P2P networks are better choice for file sharing - no need to argue.

It looks like your account has an upload/download ratio. The FTP server should be a leech server (no upload required). These settings are set up the FTP administrator, which is Riccardo in this case.

@loff- are you sure you're on the right channel? It should at least have a few bots in it. Check the fanpage, it has the IRC channel address
or maybe you didn't connect to the server or you did the wrong server

If you are sure, that the file itself is not corrupted, then you might want to check the codecs. Its one of the most common problems.

These are simplistic explanations but should be useful to the newbie. I sure wish I had someone just handing me this stuff when I was a newbie, but then again we were mighty happy with 5MB HDs and IBM XT platforms. ;p

.avi was one of the earliest semi-decent video formats. Good for very very small video screens like 130x200 which is roughly the size of 2 quarters side by side. For y'all in Europe that'd be 2 Euro coins. The video tends to be really grainy even in the smallest sizes. Not worth the time to download IMHO. Today the only people that use this format are the cheap porn distributing people and people who don't know any better, or have really crappy or ancient systems. Apologies to those of you who like me run on a 700mhz Celeron but do know better!

.mpeg this is an older format that has been continuously updated as it is one of the better Microsh*t products. I stick to mpeg3 format even though there is an mpeg4 format out there just because I'm stuck with an ancient system and 56k dial-up. Works well with Windows Media Player (WMP). WMP allows you to jukebox multiple tracks and or videos.

.mov this is the apple format that has been around of ages but still rocks. The quality of playback tends to be good to great. WMP can play this format but sometimes acts real squirrelly, thus you're stuck using Apple's Quicktime (QT) QT is really much simpler to use than WMP, however it can't do anything but play. No frame by frame, no switching between 2 videos at the same time, and you can't use it as a jukebox. You only get to play that one video, then either review it, or load up a different one. Almost all of my HIM and other Euro-Goth/Industrial videos are in this format.

There are oodles of other formats but most of them are a real pain to use, especially if the damn thing uses some wonky codex. Codexs are basically just compression formats. (OK OK that's horribly simplistic and not quite right I know, but it suffices for newbies)

www.divx.com and download their player. The free one has oodles of adware but if you don't mind or you have a great pop-up killer then who cares? If divx doesn't have the codex, then it just ain't worth playing.
divx is a RAM and system hog so you can't really run it and much else at the same time unless you have a really good Athlon 64 or P4 machine.

Also why would you want them in .mov? strange... but try www.moi-alizee.com all official videos are there in mov (poor quality)

I believe this to be true. Once you get over the initial setup and the hump of having to share 1gig of Alizee stuff, it's the greatest thing ever.

30gigs of Alizee videos on my HD can't be wrong.
