Hello,

I think Alizée must be known in USA!!!! She deserves to go in USA and to go on stage there!!!! .. She said in an interview that she would like to go but the US market is very too for a french artist . But i'm sure that if only she could perform in 1 tv show in america, she WON! American people will fall in love with her  .. Like everyone in Europe , her charm is so so UNBELIEVABLE! .

Look at what happend in the Netherlands! .. She was totally unknown and then she come to this show in Amsterdam (i'm sure you've seen this video..  ) and then she became a star in 4 minutes performance and became N°1 with 'moi lolita" .. Same in Spain, Italy, Germany, israel, (and BELGIUM sure  ).. This girl is ???.. how can i say??? She's different...

Please american people! I know you have some problems with the french (even in Belgium we find them too pretentious) .. But PLEASE Give a chance to Alizée to go on a Tv show!!! Just 1 chance! .. Because you know that this girl is not like the others.. She only needs 1 chance to charm american audience..

Please politics and singing are two differents things! You can boycott french products if you want but Alizée is not a product, no?

PS: my mother language is french so sorry if my english is not perfect.

hehe, I totally agree with you c3po. I'm now in sweden, and even here they don't know that much about her. although they did like the song Moi Lolita but too bad that she never protmoted here :S

Now I go to france :D

I would have to agree with serg. Nobody in America has heard of her. Americans usually want their music in English. Maybe some radio station will start playing I'm fed up but American music is starting to move away from the pop sound and getting dirtier. Look at Britney and Christina.

Riccardo

I agree with Riccardo, it does not sound really english, but i still like the song more then the most others :p

Well I would really like to see Alizée perform here in the US, but it doesn't look like it will happen she said that she’s not interested in coming to the US, not to mention the fact that I honestly don't think most people here would welcome a French singer. Besides she sounds better in French than in English.(its kindda hard to understand her)

Riccardo
3rd April 2003, 15:36
yeah think it too that she maybe isn't welcome, after the problems between usa and "Old Europe" ....

It's sad that american don't welcom european singers :? .. But maybe she doesn't need to go in USA .So Alizée will go on stage in france, Belgium, Switzerland .. And in 2004 Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia Netherlands, Sweden, etc . Oh maybe that's enough you're right!!. But don't you think it's a pity that the "moi Lolita" song cannot be hear in the US? (Even in england they have liked it!)

I agree with you that "I'm fed up" is not good but in her "international album" they will be 3 more english songs.. Give her an another chance!

I have known about Alizee since 2001.I have tried to make Her known by having many websites dedicated to Her.But alas it costs money & I am not a rich American.I thoink the timing is very bad for Alizee to get known here now but Her beauty & charm is great & if She were to get known here She'd be worshipped by the teen & most males here in USA.

Please someone encourage her to come to the US. Everytime I am at a store to buy a CD, I ask if they have her CDs. If eveyone did that, maybe someone would think to order some and she would become known here. Most of the anti-French crap here is from the government and bigots. It might be hard for her to break though if she doesn't sing in English which is too bad. I want to hear her in French. Once she was seen here, I'm sure millions would fall in love with her.

Alizee has got to get on VH1 or MTv, dang it ... we yankees are bein'DE-prived of the BEST!

I hear she's been on educational tv, here...but hey, who's gonna hear her til she's on the big time pop music shows? Come on!

Somebody out there has GOT to have some pull....any pullers?

Alizee is sure to blow nearly everyone else off MTv &VH1, maybe that's the problem . . .

I hope Alizee does come to America. Especially to Los Angeles, California. The first time I heard one of Alizee's Songs was Moi... Lolita. I fell in love with her before the 2nd verse was over :D . I'm an American, and I know Alizee will be very welcome here to the USA.

We should put aside all the conflicts between the US and Europe. Alizee has nothing to do with it.

Would be nice to have Alizee here!!

P.s. does anybody have old videos of when Alizee participated in TV SHOWS??

In response to sharing her - given the number of her fans, what exactly do you see as your "share?" I'm fairly sure my only relationship to her will be in my head, but she does make my head a more beautiful place to be.

Oh, and if she comes to Canada, I hope it's Vancouver. I'm from Oregon and would definitely make the trip.

bmorgan811

My share is 1 divided by the number of her fans. The more fans she has, the smaller my share is. Simple, right? :)

loveherfromusa
6th June 2003, 03:43
I'm sorry to disappoint, but the math isn't that simple. Do you assume she has only a few hundred fans? If her fans are in the many thousands or even millions, then your 1 divided by #of fans approaches 0. I'm fairly certain that I will have to settle for love at a distance.

The_Honorable

its not totally true. tatu was on leno and a bunch fo other talk shows. they aren't really european being russian, but close enough. your implying that foreign singers aren't welcome.

tatu is more provocative then alizee to boot.

i'm not sure why alizee hasn't made it here yet, maybe she doesn't really want to, or isn't in a rush. if thats the case, thats too bad.

I don't think Alizée should've started singing in English. She's French and will always stay French. Although her English sounds quite cute, I still think her French songs sound lots better. ^_^

i've only heard the bonita song so far in english. i was impressed! she sounded flawless. does she speak any english? or was it all phonetic? what other songs does she sing in english?

but its true, no one here knows about her. i downloaded her video on a whim one day off usenet and got hooked. thats the only reason i know she exists:)

she could be seriously good for relations between the two countries.

C.P.A.
30th June 2003, 13:05
she speaks english yes, not fluent yet but she is learning it.

Yes she could be ... many think so :)

C3PO
30th June 2003, 13:12
Yes she's learning english but she's not confident in this language because in all interview she makes out of France (Japan, Germany, Spain, ..) she always speaks in french with an interpreter ... So I think like CPA that she's not enough fluent in english... But I agree with you that her interpretation of "La Isla bonita" was perfect

30th June 2003, 14:21
It would be great if she went to the USA, but as I've said on here before, maybe it would be a stepping stone for her to come and establish in England first, before going to USA.

Then, maybe she would be able to find out how she would get on in an english-speaking country, but on a smaller and less crucial scale.

loveherfromusa
1st July 2003, 09:40
OOOOH! So England would be a "smaller and less crucial scale" ? I hope you aren't anywhere near England. As soon as people her saw her dance, they would fall in love with her. Tough luck for them since by that time she would be spending her free time with me.

C.P.A.
1st July 2003, 14:27
I certainly have to dissapoint you my friend,... before any of your statements become true ... you will have to deal with the fact that I have made her mine ;) lol

no seriously, she could become populair again in England as well. Nevertheless I also think that if she really wants to become populair again she should or be more herself or change totally of style. We have to be honest, it ain't going so well nowadays with Alizée in the chart lists.

We only can hope that she will take the first option of the two given options because that's the way we like her. If not I will still like her but perhaps some (maybe a lot of) fans not.

I am from Baltimore Maryland and strive to listen to good music all over the world, I have been an Alizée fan for over a year and can not get enough of her music and videos. I have both cd's and I'm in the process of trying to purchase more unique cd's and other items, etc. through Ebay. I love her music in French, my desire to hear Alizée in English is to only know the translations. I do like the "I'm not twenty!" song in English, but, prefer hearing her in French. I see Alizée as a little sister; she is so adorable! If Alizée ever schedules an appearance anywhere in Canada, I'm there!

Aihyah mentioned "tatu is more provocative then alizee to boot." I need to respond to that. tATu is more provocative physically. Alizee is much more provocative mentally. tATu is obvious - wet underwear. Alizee can stimulate me more with a smile. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy seeing pretty women in skimpy clothing (or less) as much as the next guy, but to really get my heart beating and my breathing shallow, Alizee's smile (and maybe a hip movement here and there) do the job much better.

Aihyah
3rd July 2003, 13:33
well thats not what i meant really. i meant provative as in controversial. lesbian kissing teens, nipage etc. they aren't as hot as alizee by any measure, i don't really like em. i was just pointing out that theres no cultural barrier against these sorts of things. if tatu can slide in, alizee shouldn't have any problems. its apples to oranges really, kind of like porn to beauty queen.

loveherfromusa
3rd July 2003, 14:14
Well, I do like tATu - partly because they are provocative and because I like their music. They are edgy. The video with the train is great. I also like to see pretty young girls kissing. But you are right, Alizee is much sexier. I don't think tATu is porn or that Alizee is a beauty queen. I do understand the contrast you were trying to communicate. A smile from Alizee with a twinkle in her eyes (damn she can twinkle those beautiful eyes) has me over the edge. If it came down to a 'battle of the bands' with tATu on one stage and Alizee on the other, tATu would get my attention (until I saw that Alizee was on), but Akizee would get my heart.

But Mylène is french .. Her parents were french and have worked in Québec .. They came back in France when Mylène was 6 ... Mylène Farmer has made some concerts in Québec but I think the last one was in 1991 .. After that she made concerts only in Europe.

4th July 2003, 17:09
As A Canadian, I think it'd be great if Alizee came here to perform. :)

A big portion of our population speaks French, as well as our national radio station having a French counterpart. She'd probably get quite a bit of exposure here. Also, then she wouldn't have to be so concerned about her English.

I'm from Vancouver, Canada and here on the west coast where few people speak French, Alizée is practically unheard of. I bet my friends don't know who she is. This forum is awesome! I find all this talk about Alizée quite fascinating. I found this by doing a search on Google because I wanted to learn more about her.

To answer your question Philippe, Mylène Farmer is not very well known in this English speaking part of Canada because she is a French artist. We listen mostly to English music unfortunately. When I was in Montréal though, I heard the name Mylène Farmer occasionally but she's not very famous here in Vancouver.

She didn't go outside France a lot .. She has made some concerts in Canada (Québec) at the end of the 80's but since then she didn't come back in Canada except for doing a little promotion ... Mylène has also made some concerts in Belgium, Swiss and eastern european countries as Russia ... The particularity of Mylène is that she doesn't realease album very often .. Her last one was in the years 1999/2000 ... We are waiting her new one maybe for the next year.

Hi Guys,
I'm from England and Alizée isn't known here.
She did release Moi... Lolita and it got to about No.20 in the charts but she never released anything else after that and I don't think she ever visited the country for promotion of Moi... Lolita either.
I think she didn't bother releasing anything else here because Moi... Lolita didn't go high in the charts like it did in many mainland European countries.

The problem is that the UK already has it's fair share of artists and pop stars so it's almost impossible for an outsider to get noticed. Plus Brits don't take to the French language very well and there's also the issue about Moi... Lolita's subject matter which would be considered quite errr wrong I guess in the UK.

I have to import all her CD's from other EU countries and if it wasn't for internet downloads I wouldn't be able to see any of her music videos or live performances.
I'd like to think she'd come to the UK and really give it a go at cracking the UK pop market but to be honest, her management only seem to be interested in milking the areas she's already popular in.

Can anyone tell me what L'Alizé means in English btw ?.

My first post too.

Philippe

Hi Jimmyboy and welcome to the forum. To answer at your question:
L'Alizé is a particular wind that sits over the island of Corsica.

I think you could be right, I seem to remember a performance on TOTP.

I don't think she's been back since though, but then she hasn't got a reason to because none of her other singles have been released here.

So L'alizé means wind ? - Maybe it's a song about Alizée eating a can of baked beans ?.

Its an online game World War 2 Online and in the off topic thread she rules. :> If you want to check it out its kinda hard 2 find, but you can start looking at www.playnet.com"look for the community forums" after seeing her and hearing some of her songs, I think she could pull it off if she wanted too.

PS: my mother language is french so sorry if my english is not perfect.

She doesn't stand a chance in America...For many reasons,

1. The american youth now hate the french because of their attitude against America in the Iraqi war...So wait 10 years or so...

2.Anything of any real quality is rejected in america because of that reason Also anything that is different, ...50 cent and Snoop Dogg go around saying "Im'a bad@SS p.i.m.p, shake it baby, I got my cars, and I got h*t b**** dat choo don't got whiteboy" and they sell millions,by repeating the same sexist, immature, effortless lyrics and slightly altering the beat they used for they're last song..But their american, and their have the right skin color mostly...Even Justin Timberlake has to do his best to act like he's black..
American's these days are not very openminded in their taste for music.
I've no problem with colored people, but I do with rappers and W**gers.
I do think Blind Guardian could possibly catch on in America , if given the right promotional opportunities...I think the idea of writing about things that don't concern common life that contain more fantasy type lyrics, could possibly...become popular...But really they shouldn't have discarded the opportunity to do a soundtrack for Lotr..

3.That odds anyone would have the guts to promote an artist of Alizee's genre is about 2 out of 10.

Thats not alot of reasons, but it's enough

Ya, same for me, just kinda found out about her by chance here in the US. Surprised she hasn't actively tried to get a following going here, oh well.

Alizee has got to get on VH1 or MTv, dang it ... Alizee is sure to blow nearly everyone else off MTv &VH1, maybe that's the problem . . .

US is so close-minded, it's really a shame. There are plenty of great artists singing in native languages and MTV and VH1 miss a chance of growing a market for them. Would it be so hard to devote a half hour to foreign-language videos?

We should all request alizee onto MTV and other music channels, america needs exposure to her.
