Damn man! you did that ? incredible indeed, I really like the highlighted face and of course it looks pretty well with those green eyes as well (am I wrong, they seem to me that way...).
I haven't done so much work on Photoshop, merely 'cause I'm not the master yet at it, but I colored a drawing I made time ago with it, here it is:
First, The sketch and then the colored drawing.

^ I like this drawing man! But why isn't she smiling :cheesy: ?
I am myself also working on drawing her ... just by paper-and-pensil ... I can post it when I am satisfied with the result ... so far her pictures are just prettier ... they are hard to beat! :?

Looking good imo. But I would like it better if I could see her forhead too. This way it looks like her eyes have no upper limit. Just a thought.

It's kinda fun begin to draw her just by paper-&-pencil (an sketch ofc), actually I get a hell of fun with it by doing that... :cheesy:, I couldn't agree more on your last coment, it takes a lot of time on doing a good drawing. When you finish let us know about it.

And why is that? I can make 300 beautiful wallpapers but not 1 different one? It's not unflattering, I think it's kewl and weird! I was experimenting and she came out a cool zombie, so why delete it.
And fyi I did make it when I was still a fan, since I don't care how she looks, it's still her.

I left the pant wrinkles, not just to save me some time, but to give the leg outlines . . . this pic works is you stare at the centre and sitting Alizée will become more outlined (your brain will catch on . . . that's the goal . . . best done from far away)

maybe the pic is too big for the screen . . . anyways it's supposed to look like the Alizée in the centre is 3D . . . that you slowly see the outline of the body that was once there, but is covered with pics . . .
haha if you can't see it, then I guess it's back to the drawing board . . . I have to add a shine on the figure that is hidden by pics (the legs and torso)
rka

yeah maybe make smaller cuz my screen is 1280x1024 and i cant see it all
Orion
1st February 2006, 06:25
or you can copy it to your DT and just zoom out(EDIT: using your picture viewer). The theory behind it works, but I maybe did it too fast . . . a slight shine on the outline (very slight) would work well . . .

nah, not really . . . it is supposed to make the semi hidden figure (the Alizée that is sitting and resting on her hands in the centre) stand out more for the longer periods that you stare at it. I was supposed to add some subtle shine to that centre image, but did not; you can see that the legs are filled with pics but the outline remains and the shirt is semi hidden . . . the head is untouched.
@Steve:
you have a nice concept there . . . it really makes the picture seem complete, even though the rest of the image is B/W. Nice!

Really, I could have sworn she was black and white!!
And to make the eyes like that, all you need to do is copy her eyes only from the original picture then replace them over the edited picture and then change the hue/saturation. Very easy really! :D

After looking at it I'd say that it needs a lot of work around the edges of her. The magic tool does a good job, but you have to blend her with the background or else she'll stand out too much. It's a good idea, though. Wouldn't hurt if you can start out with a size like 1600x1200 so you can scale it down to various sizes like RMJ does.

Like ternuc said, do some blending around the image, you can duplicate the image layer and use gaussian blur to soften the edges (use a layer mask and erase everything except the edges). Add some contrast or use levels to adjust the brightness and contrast. I'm guessing you used a brush to do the leaves. You could modify the brush's properties and set it to spread more, there are also other settings you could play with. Hope this helps.
Orion
1st March 2006, 16:27
haha, steve and ternuc made me laugh . . . you guys are both right
@ vonstar: Yeah thanks for that . . . I still have work to do on it . . . this started as a Jort Braam project I am learning (he is a great artists from the Netherlands - photoshop master), and decided to do something different. I want to see how creative I can be with it. I want to add some old photo lines to it using a strong brush, then I need to add a shadow near Alizée, so I will have to add more canvass using the crop tool, then add a mellow light source that is complimentary with the background; maybe a yellowish source instead of pure white light . . .it has to be soft so I will have to smooth out all the edges when I am done.
It doesn't "look slightly amature," it IS amature . . . but I am slowly improving. I thought it would be great to post an unfinished work and then post the finished item just to see the work done . . .
P.S. I love digital photography, and if I would have taken my own picture with a model, I would have cut the work time on this in half . . . but I don't think that Lili will be answering my calls right about now :cheesy:

Sorry for bringing this old thread up but I wanted to address Orion's concerns about the colors.
The reason why your brilliant picture looks dull in your browser compared to photoshop is that you have created it with a color profile called "ADOBE RGB (1998)". Your browser cant handle it and interpret it as sRGB which results in an image with less vivid colors.
These color spaces have their own gamut, and converting colors that lie outside that gamut will not produce correct results.
I hope this will help you somewhat in you creativeness :doc:

It happened to me too, the first time I tried to use Photoshop. Now I'm learning, and getting better and better. You may think that Photoshop is hard to learn, but it's quite easy and fun, in the end (beginnings are always hard).
I have a question for you, Orion. In your wallpapers, did you used the method called image blending or something like that? 'Cause I can't seem to succeed on doing it. Can you post a little tutorial, or a link with a tutorial on that, please. I would appreciate it a lot, thanks. :D

Layers, my friend, layers....
The Lilies are first cut from the original image and then put on separate layers. Then you just use your imagination!
Yup, great, thanks!
I was amazed on how easy it is, although not all the images can be easily select with the magic wand tool without expanding it.

Actually, I didn't use layers. I did everything in steps on the same canvas. I used the canvas like a painter uses his; then I used brushes, clones, magic wands etc etc etc.
I like to work within the image. For examplew, I don't use any special techniques for cutting and blending. If a cut out seems obvious, I work with the actual pixels themselves: I zoom in and change th4e colour of the pixels to fit the background. harder and more timconsuming this way, but I like to get involved myself so that I can understand pixels.
BAck to layering: I guess you can say that to make art, just keep adding to the same canvas, without ever going to a new canvas etc.
After I finish my exams, I will be making something as complex as the above image, and I will post the steps I used via screen shots. it will be as if you are there watching me.
Professionals use layers because it makes the project easier to work with etc. And you can get some really nice effects into your art if you use them.
My next project I will take more seriously, and will look more professional . . . but after I contend with my exams.
(Learn to use layers, though . . . it's better . . . CS2 RULES, but there are so many great applications and filters you can use that are made to work with CS2. Some filters can be pricey, though. I tried one for lighting/shadow effects that cost $400. But I tried doing the effect myself and, though it took me longer :doc: , I had the same effect produced by hand. It's definitely more fun this way :D
I'm off . . . .

Well, when you do it the hard way, yu are open to errors of all types, but sometimes, depending on the project, the errors become "essential" in that they add to the aura and feel of it . . . ofcourse that all depends on teh art you are creating.

after using up 1.5 gig of mem and 6 hrs work (roughly), all for you:
Lucid Dreams
http://www.mediafire.com/?fmhidjmmdnm
I did not use any plugins or space pictures (for the nebulae, all I did was use the soft brush and then gaussian blur and made the layer overlay etc). the specks you see are just a "splatter" effect created in P/S.
here is a LQ version :arrowd: of what to expect . . . but it does not compare to HQ (3 sizes in rar file) version :arrowu:
must view at full res for best quality:

It's called "Lucid Dreams" . . . . you are looking inside the mind of Alizée . . . . . . . . . . an angel she is . . . of that there is NO DOUBT . .
RMJ and others have presented her as an angel . . . superbly already . . . Now, take everything into account, and I will leave you to meditate on that. 8)
EDIT
This is what I am working on now . . . I still need to align the shoulder a bit more (it still needs work as does the hair . . . She is leaning to one side, so naturally, her right shoulder (facing you) should be raised a bit . . .) the newly cloned area needs work on the neck, shoulder and hair areas . . especially the furthest edge of the new shoulder . . . I might still need to realign the strap too.
The newly cloned shoulder is of a different skin tone, so I simply cloned skin from the other picture at a reduced opacity so that I could control the amount of skin tonal adjustment . . .

Symphony:
I wanted to give a sense of old, yet still new in this. As you can see with the first, the eyes are bluer than the rest, and that is seen many times in old photos where there is a collection of depth of saturation due to shade. The others are a slight hue variation of the first with less intense eyes etc.
In making this, I employed many brushes and layer blending. When I first started out I blew up the pic you see and then painted red over it in another layer. Then I got the eraser (soft) and simply erased the red cover layers in the center to reveal her and then played around with the blending options for layers and also adjusted for opacity . . and this was done for all layers (at least 50 . . . not sure because I continued this project in several other P/S projects). I only used a plugin for the rough texture and cracks you see. For the rough texture I selected an area in the center of the pic using the magic wand randomly across at an angle, and then simply added the texture. Then I got the soft eraser and went over the edges a bit to make my own path of how I wanted it to look. With the cracks, I did the same thing but did the whole area, but went over it with soft brush and opacity settings were changed a bit. Hope you like it!
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/ajaccio/th_Symphony_1_b.jpg (http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/ajaccio/Symphony_1_b.jpg)http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/ajaccio/Alizee%20Wallpapers/th_Symphony_1LR_RNS_b.jpg (http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/ajaccio/Alizee%20Wallpapers/Symphony_1LR_RNS_b.jpg)http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/ajaccio/sig_av/th_Symphony_1LR_RNY_b.jpg (http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/ajaccio/sig_av/Symphony_1LR_RNY_b.jpg)
btw, if you guys want to create your own textures etc . . . then if you have a very good scanner and some film paper (for overheads) then you can make anything you want. for splatter, you can simply put somefood colouring in your mouth ( :cheesy: ) and then simply spray it on the film sheet. then all you have to do is wait for it to dry a bit ( :cheesy: ) and then scan it onto your hard drive . . . you can then simply use it in P/S, by erasing the background (white) and all that you will have is the splatter. you can do the same thing with the cracks . . . just get some oil paint and using a toothpick, just create cracks on a film. This way, you will create those 3d grooves you see in my pic. Now, do not paint and then use the toothpick . . . NO . . . siply dap the toothpick in the paint and then make crack lines on the film sheet. Then scan it and do the same thing as you did with the splatter. You can even scan, as is, an old scrap metal that has rust and water marks on it . . . you can then use that to overlay on a pic, and by using the corect settings, you will make your pic look old, the possibilites are endless. . . . . . .
@Greenie
[Lucid Dreams]: Yes so many, but if the major pic used was facing sideways and looking up directly, it would have given a greater sense of lucid dreaming . . . it would have been more cozy and personal because she would've looked at herself closesly and then her lucid dream spred from there . . every pic facing and intimate

I blended layers to create the effect you see. The orange red thing in the middle is actually a daisy that I have layered as “color” between the face and the whiteness you see on it, to get that burning effect. The daisy now looks like a twisting, burning intensive phenomenon. The “bubbles,” I let go over the boarder for a nice effect. Hope you like:

I erased all her surroundings, and plan to put her on some other form of ledge or a window etc . . . don't know yet.

I cloned through the pants rather speedily, and still need to "iron" them out a bit . . . If you guys have Wallpapers, then you know where to post them. :cheesy:
edit: like I said Uméesha, since they are copy and paste, they are not really P/S art, but I would like it for you to make them WP size, so that you can repost them there, and let me delete these. . .

beautiful choice of font that goers perfectly with the BG! I understand the colour layout, but it's not my fav.
One thing I would do for accent is to give the larger "leaf" graphic at the top left more contrast to stand out from the rest of the BG . . . maybe do the same with the text and add some clarity or "shine" to them both.

OMG!!! You made this??? This (but in colours) is used on a Romanian site. When you press it, it takes you to a part full of her clips.

Yes, they are images run through filter that highlights edges. Embose or similar would do that, or you can easily write your own matrix filter for it. We used to write a lot of those filter in school when studying Marsian surface, as you can run photo of the surface and when running through basic matrix filter you will easily get the general direction of hills, fractures, wind formations, and other stuff... You can even tell which slope of the hill is on the wind side...

Delete no, but maybe moved to the P/S thread.
And relax, take it easy. Don't take it seriously.
Plus I highly doubt that was made to fool us. I mean, the way her name was written gives it away. No one could write/draw letters that good, no? ;)
I just noticed that the guitarist has been giving us the finger the whole time.

haha, what do you expect when you post an image in public forum with the heading "my Alizée sketches"
. . . Alpha thinks you did quite well in capturing her persona :P
relax bro. . .if they were to have been done by hand, NICE! since they were done in PS using filters, it's "hey I like how they came out. . .good job of using filters correctly." etc etc etc ;)

huh? it would help if you didn't lie and call it a "sketch" don't you think? it's just a photoshop filter anybody can apply and to me, what you did was an insult to the people here. they know what a sketch is and what a p/s filter job is. sorry to be blunt but c'mon...
