I didn't realise it was posible to get this overweight I'm completrely horrified. :shock: I hope they can do something for him. Anyway I thought I'd make this into a thread so firstly what are your views on obesity and what do you think can be done to control it? Personaly I think much of the obesity is the product of a society where food is cheap and where people are living ever more sedentary lives - travelling everywhere by car staying at home, doing less exercise due to pressures such as work and fear of crime. Solving this problem has to sart through grreater education in our schools the creation of environments, which are safe and promote the use of alternative modes of transport. I think a maximum working week (hours) would be another good idea. People would be under less stress and have more oppotunitie for recreation. Finally a tax should be introduced on the unhealthiest foods perhaps this could be done by fat or salt content or by calories.
I do realise that quite possibly in the case of this man other factors may have been to blame. I also recognise that for some obesity can be caused by gladular problems etc. Anyway thats my opinion you can disagree and make other suggestions just don't flame the hell out of me.:)

I agree with your opinion, about 50% fault is his fault and other 50% is his food fault what he was eating. :( Let`s hope that he is getting some help.

I can't help thinking that this kind of overweight might be caused by somekind of sickness... and there are many people who are fat only because of their genes..
:shock:
546 kg... huh that is a lot! :shock:
And it's true what he said that "we were born to die". nobody survives from this life without dying.. :cry:

a > b = overweight people.
a < b = slim people
or
a < b(+c) = slim people
a = Calorie intake
b = Calories Burned
c = Medication for x treatment
lack of awareness + bad eating habits + laziness = overweight people.
(lack+bad+lazy) = Overweight

According to the Guinness World Records Web site, the record for heaviest man in the world is 629 kg (1387 lb.), held by Jon Brower Minnoch of Bainbridge who died in 1983.
Bainbridge Island is the town of 20,000 where I grew up. Crazy isn't it?

How did nobody help this person when he weighed 600 pounds instead of 1200? Didn't anyone try to intervene?

At 600lbs, I would imagine that he probably stayed home most of the time and away from the public.

I'm pretty sure that you DO talk about people like that. Think about other people's feelings sometimes Steve.
