View Full Version : My MSN doesn't work.

I can write in my password and email, np.. What I can not do, is click the "log in" button and make that happen. I click it, but MSN doesn't react. I can right click on it next to the clock, and nothing happens, it just won't even try to log in. What's wrong? I've reinstalled msn twice, and downloaded a new install file once, so I have the newest version. I recently had a virus, so that might have something to do with it, but it should've been long gone by now with all the anti-virus things I've been running. A reinstall of Windows would probably solve it, but it takes hours, so I don't want to unless I have to. Any help? I've sure I've forgotten something, so feel free to ask =)
edit: I do not have a working key for Windows now, so I can't upgrade anything from their update page. Same thing with a friend of mine, and msn works there, so it shouldn't matter.

When you open the main window, before signing in, there is a link called service status. Click that and it will redirect you to the MSN Messenger status web page. If all the systems are stable and running it means it's not their fault. If otherwise, there is something happening in your system, and you should probably check it out, whatever it is. When I open MSN Messenger it blocks me from signing in unless I troubleshoot it several times. Then I can connect. All in all it's prolly because of some maintainance they are doing or because of some problem you have.
Edit: Be on aware of some spyware program, called Alexa related that is blocking most of the real time internet services from connecting. You can remove it with Microsoft Antispyware.

Trying out Trillian now, dunno if I like it or not, but it works, so thank you =) I'd still appreciate tips on how to get MSN back tho, as I'm used to it after years and years of usage..
MSN works fine (even my acc) on the comp next to mine, on the same network and internet connection. The status thing for msn says it has no problems, so I think we can assume the problem is somewhere on my computer. The question is where, and how to fix it.

A good scan with some good software might work. If not, reinstallation might be the next move. I think. :=D:
