Yes,here is finally the video.

After my Subtitles Age i was planning to make some room for Videos ( my HD is really f*cked up by all those useless tries now )

The video is based on the song.As you might notice,sometimes you can feel Alizée by listening to the music.I have tried to make the songtext cover up the video.

I hope you guys enjoy it.Luckily i gained some help from Orion,but also help from RMJ who gave me this stuff.

Two days ago i knew nothing about videos,but now i can say i'm getting the hang of it!

Great fan video, home made! :thumbup: Great clips and especially great sound track choice: 4Strings - Take me away (a great dance tune I'm sure we all like :D ). The only thing that it has bad is the aspect ratio of the clips used (some of them are originally 4:3, others 16:9 and so on), but that can be ignored. Again, great video! :laughbounce:

I just saw the vid and it was a great first attempt. I recognized the Pr. Pro sig within the first scenes (ie. the black borders). That's what happens when the aspect ratios don't match.

Do what I told you and you can only get much better (RMJ is also very knowledgeable 8) .

I can tell from certain poarts of your editing that you will be a pro in no time . . . if not already :D

No need for grading out of ten . . . because you are aces high 8)

I agree with Snatcher, that timing was great and the compression is impressive. By the way, in the future (or even now) you can change the file extension from .divx to .avi and it will still work just the same while being more like the other videos as far as naming.

agreeing with you guys on the "2:20," I think that 2:20 to 2:29, as a whole is much "cooler" - the wave and the hands in the air go well with the music. And that folks, is how you edit.

That depends entirely on file-type associations that will vary from computer to computer (for example, on my system .divx files open in vidomi and .avis in MPC, since I have those pieces of software installed). Intrinsically, there is no difference between a .divx and a .avi here.

I work this way and think that divx should be played with the divx player. AVI files tend to not be as smooth when played in WMP, and sometimes are very choppy, for examle.

Nope, no difference. divx is just a type of avi file. I just like to open everything in MPC rather than have a million different players to have to reconfigure. Besides, MPC works so well with FFDshow so it's better playback anyway.

No it won't. Again, there's nothing intrinsic about a file extension. It's just a signifier for windows. There are certain ones that come set a default way, and others that get assigned by program installers. But you can change all that, and make a "divx" or any other file open in any program you want. It's about changing the program association without changing the file name or extension, though. Sure, you can rename a .divx to a .avi, but you can also change what program they use without doing that.

I indeed build the video around the song.I like it when i follow the lyrics.Like when the night falls,they sing about the night.And ( that was a bit wrong ) i had made it so that,when Alizée went up in L'Alizé they had to sing "Fly away..." but that failed.

I'm very happy with the 3 beats when Mylene and Alizée come up ( as a drawing )

I'm already trying something with my next work.It will have something to do with Uk_Fan 2003 and me... :P

I haven't slept very long the last weekend,and now i need to go to school.I have been awake till 4 and man I'm tired.I won't be making a new video this week,but maybe next week.

Good choice. A good way to save these videos is to go to Export --> Adobe Media Encoder, and set it to "Generic MPEG-2." The file size is a little larger (though still very reasonable), but the quality will be great.

Very nice PayBays. :) The video quality and everything seems to be fine (for the first try :) ). The editing itself is very nice. There were couple places where clip run few frames too long (new scene started already) but that's minor thing. Very good job, especially when knowing that you have had in video editing business less than 2 days. :P

Using of different player for each file type is waste of time. If you have FFShow installed (and correctly configured), it will decode the video anyways, no matter what player you use. The results is equal. Much easier to play all (mpeg1/2/4, quicktime, bink, real media, you name it) on same player (MPC).

No. DivX is codec and nothing more. If you have file that has .divx extension then it's just renamed AVI container.

Other well known containers are for example ASF, MKV and OGM.

Well, I googled and there's actually divx container now. It was released with DivX6 codec. It's basically AVI container with couple extra features (multisubtitles, multiple soundtracks, menus. So basically to make ripped movie act like DVD), so it's partly backward compatible.

But anyways, 'rendering' (encoding is the right word) to something format doesn't mean it will use certain container. The video file is put to container after it's fully encoded. What container is used, totally depends on program and on your settings given to it.

Speed? Surely DivX isn't fast to encode. It's one of the heaviest codecs currently in use. Due to it's heavyness, compression is good, tho. That's why MPEG4 were created in the first place. To replace the old MPEG2 (which is much lighter codec).

That was the purpous Ternuc.I build the video around the song.I have planned it so that every video had something to do with a lyric:

- You can see Alizée walking around the beach of Corsica ( million miles away from here )
- As you said above,that was the part i placed first.The Sun going down and Alizée ( i had to make here sleeping twice )
- I also had to make the 4 beats with the drawed Mylene and Alizée ( notice how the beats come 1,5 sec to late )



I'm very pleased that people like my video :oops: It's a step closer to Alizée...I finally made my own video,and i'm proud of it no matter what others say :weep: :cheesy:

I have merged Ministry of Sound - The Chillout Session - William Orbit - Barber's Adagio for Strings with another adagio for strings (orbit) with a fade in and I am using it to make your video. It will take me a while though, because there is a lot of editing and I have to do a lot of scene recording (certain parts so that I can overlay some). 1-2 weeks.

I will never feel used. Whatever I do, I do it to express my feelings. How could I be feel used when the video (or image or whatever) is done for myself (and Lili).

But don't worry. Certain persons gets better and faster download options. But that's not something to worry about, yet. In worst case, this project can takes months. Tho, I'd like to get it done in reasonable time. :)

It's the human nature. We aren't used to thank for what we get. But it's ok. When you see someone thanking you then you know that he did really like it a lot. Also, it's good idea not to do stuff for everyone. You can't please everyone. But you can please yourself. So, why not make video for yourself. You can't go wrong then.

Yes excatly the point. You express your feelings through the video. Who can't get inside your head won't understand the true meaning of the video. It's hard to understand others mind. Those who will be able to enjoy are closer to truth but even they don't necessary understand the true meaning. Or maybe they understands the true meaning but from their own point of view. It's ok. If it pleases them then that's ok. But if it pleases you, then you have completed your goal.

I have learned long ago to ignore comments that doesn't matter to me. I do listen to critic and I'm always up for it. I do listen to hints I get from people. But I'm not doing any changes into my work to please them. I may try their ideas and see how it works but I do it purely because I wan't to see if I really could do it better.

But of course, I can enjoy people's thanks, too. It always warms my heart if they can enjoy about something that is so very personal to me. Only if they could feel what I feel...

But also, people shouldn't hide their feelings if they are unhappy about something. But then they should express why they are unhappy. Telling that 'your vid sucks' isn't expressings yourself. It's offensive comment and ment to hurt you (the reasons for hurting varies tho... Sometimes they are just jealous that they can't do what you can do, so they try to make themselves to feel more comfortable by trying to hurt you). Negative critic is always for good. But be constructive. Atleast say why it sucks. The more detailed you are the more the author gets from it. It may help him to understand things better (or to help ignore him if his only purpose is to try to hurt).

I'm sure that not everyone will enjoy the music I have chosen for my video. It's expected, and nothing wrong in that. They will never be able to understand my reasons for the music. Maybe not even if I'd explain it. But it won't matter. I know the reason. And hopefully Lili can understand the reason if she ever sees the video (which is unlikely, tho :( ). She may not agree on the reason but that's ok. I don't expect anyone to agree my reasons. They are my reasons, and they got only meaning for myself.

Ah... Again I lost the track and went on and on... But that's just how my mind works. Maybe you could call this teaser for the video. :)

But what I'm tried to tell is that when you do something then do it with feeling and forget rest of the world. If you worry about pleasing other people, you can't express yourself!

This wasn't really directed to you Orion or PB. One can see you have done that already. One can see it from the videos that you put your feelings into it. But still it's good if you can be more confident what you are doing because you gotta know that there is no way to do it wrong.

Yes, we make the vids for ourselves first because we have to put our hearts and minds into it . . . but sometimes I just wonder about the "free loaders." So much time and emotion go into making a vid, and as we get better at it, we become protective of our creations and feel that people take and not say thank you very often. The last vid took me a very long time to accomplish, and my feelings are in that vid . . . like someone said . . . it showed how much I love Alizée . . . that to me is worth more than all the "you are the best" that people can throw at you. "The best" means nothing and it is not in my vocabulary or psyche, when I make these videos . . . As I said on many occasions . . . "the vids are for you," meaning the fans. Heck, people that "hate" me even download them.

I guess I needed someone to say what you just said, just to get it on the record . . . and I thank you for understanding.

Confidence is always in abundance here, I just want people who take the vid to stop by and say "hello." My latest angel vid I distributed here to every language forum that had a media section . . . I hope they all know why . . . it is for the same reason I do something for someone who asks of me . . . kindness . . . if you don't believe me, then try me out strangers and all.

the difference between a pro and say, maxt23, is that a pro knows what "this" button does or that option means . . . aside from this, you have to have imagination and a love for making videos . . . after all that, whatever you make and are pleased with is all that really matters. So, you are a pro in waiting . . .

When I first started, I chose one vid cap and then put it through many menu options and used many "buttons" to see what would happen etc. (hands on). I figured things out, because I understood what buttons and menu items did from USING them. It's only "pro"because it allows you to control everything and also has more advanved menu items and options . . . I told PayBays to do that hands on thing, and I tell you the same thing . . . hands on!

and after you make a vid, keep the project file; that way you can go back and use it to teach yourself, and experimant with the sliders add transitions by clicking on it from the drop down menu and then just drag/drop in between the vids in the timeline window . . . overlap 2 songs so that you get a fade in effect . . .drag along to desired position and then play it to see what you just did in the preview window. if you look at the timeline window you can see that on the left is a list of all the files that belong to that section that runs across (vid 1, vid 2, audio 1 audio 2 sfx etc.) that's where the files go and that's where you can trim them, or edit them in the 2 windows at top centre and to right right.
So, use the menus and move things around with the mouse . . . just rememebr to use vids that are the same aspect ratio 16:9/4:3 etc., and fps (frames per second).

Man . . . I am glad I don't have to teacxh this stuff because, otherwise, the students would be jumping out the windows . . . I got a nack for clarity, eh :lol:

I guess it's time for Orion to go to bed . . . I feel dazed.

I've just watched the sort clip PayBays! the pro comes with mpeg codecs for encoding directly from the program . . . I don't quite understand what you mean, though ("to make video in it display") . . . I have been struggling with the En Concert videos for a long long time.I also noticed that when i rendered it it compleetly changes.I also noticed how f*cked up videos can be if you're trying to let her lypsing.

On En Concert she is singing faster,faster then the MP3 and that gave me so much sore heads that i decided to let it be like this.

The same with the screens that freeze at a while ( maybe it is my video graphics card ) Please notice me on what parts you get problems...

The video is named "She... Gourmandises" and is an Ode to Gourmandises itself.Not the Album,but the song!I gained some nice things from James that i wanted to use ( check out the credits James )

The first 30 sec you see something James wrote,then 4:10 Min Gourmandises and behind that 3 Minits of blablabla ( I really liked the song that played and didn't want to cut it off )

I personally give it a 4...i had so much wild ideas...

This one is a very big failure...i tried to do my best,but it's so...ugly :weep:

Are you trying to make her lip-synch to the song . . . Like ternuc did?
What kind of graphics card do you have . . . that shouldn't be the problem . . . most likely the memory or full HD . . . these are my problems and what I have been going through is pure hell. . . Everytime I close my production and save it, the settings get deleted when I open my production again . . . add to that choppy playback, so that you can't tell if you did things right . . . and you have some idea of what I have been going through . . . I am set to release the vid, but I am saving the production files to redo it when I build my new comp . . .

Good luck PB . . . I have seemed to run out of it, myself . . . and I fear that if I don't savfe my things on a disk soon, I will lose all my work because I fear a massive HD/system crash :twisted:

Press F9 and then at the top left change it to Roll or Crawl then press the button next to it ( on the right ) and you can set how and when it appears and disappears ( the longer the track on the timeline,the slower it will go )

I posted the answer in my "New Video" thread becasue I thought I saw your question there (I diodn't bother to look, just posted)

here is a copy of that for you:


to fade out a track:

In the timeline window, move the marker to the desired point of the track (audio 1, 2, or 3) preferablynear end .

click on the "show key frames" button (diamond shaped button in the Audio 1 box next to the timeline window)

select "show track key frames"

press the "add/remove keyframe" button and you will notice that where you have moved the timeline marker, there will now be a small circle with an + sign in it.

next, move the timeline marker to the end of the track

press the "add/remove kewyframes" button again and now you will see that there is another small circle with the + sign in it.

click and drag the last marker you have just created all the way to the bottom right corner of the audio timeline

you will see that the audio line has taken a slope down from the first keyframe marker to the one just placed in the bottom corner

this will now be the volume direction for this part of the audio timeline

you're done

(NOTE: the more audio treacks you add - audio 1, 2, 3 - the more you can play with the key/frames button (you have to)

I am too lazy to read over for mistakes - so if there is anything noit understood, just holla

P.S. I don't want to play teacher though . . .

I told PB to just work with audio tracks and then with video tracks, and then combine the two . . . so, know the audio controls, then the video controls, and then combine the 2 if you want to learn fast

The ending part was bit long but it's ok, too. You said you couldn't shorten it because you love the song. To me the song sounds like it repeating itself over and over again so I can't really agree on that... But as said, it's still ok. The texts are nice and everything. :)

Btw... Those very weird video errors (looks like waves..) during some scenes... My best guess is that they are deinterlacing artifacts. It looks like the deinterlacing and image resizing is done in wrong order... (deinterlacing should be done always before image resize. Never vice versa.)

I suspected something like that would happen, so I made another copy of my production with new name and put it to disk with all my caps used . . . I felt that if I didn't render the file and put it out immediately, I would lose everything sooner or later

Most likely you have turned (accidentally) it off.

Atleast in modern browsers (like Firefox and Opera) you can turn gif animations on and off and have few other settings for them.

Nice work paybays. I can see what you were trying to do here, but your effort was obviously hurt by those little glitches and the fact that these videos vary so much in quality that it's hard to match them up very well. It reminds me so much of my video so I love it. I'm so glad you decided to make one of Gourmandises!

As for credits... I don't really know if they're necessary. Heh, I didn't even have my name anywhere in my video. I think I may have put it in the filename, but I claim no credit, it's all hers. Besides, I think they're a distraction.

you can change the size of it when you use the overlay button . . . and you can also make it translucent, etc . . . . .

You asked how to slow down movie/cap:

Right click in the monitor window, and from the drop down menu select "Speed/Duration."

Click on the speed number, which is already set to 100.0%, and then drag your mouse to the left until you reach your desired speed (ie. 85%)

it will now go 85% its normal speed

in the same window, you can choose to keep the audio pitch @ 100% . . . but generaly you will mute it if you are adding caps to an mp3

You can also change the duration of the vid, which will effect the speed

EDIT: do all the cutrting in the monitor window and then move them to the timeline/sequence

My video is coming slowly too... Have been working on one image for it since last week. Sketch is about ready and did some test vids with it... Looked pretty ok. Just needs to finish the final image.

Noticed also that Premiere has limits when it comes to image size. My about 14000x2000 image was too big for it... Had to resize it 50% to get it even import it... :(

The background music is also pretty much mixed now. Length is about 4 minutes, maybe lil over.

Hmm.. Let's see... I have planned it since December... I started to work on in second week of January (about 3 weeks ago) and I have now finished about 5 seconds (out of 240+ seconds) of it's video material... And I haven't even started with few images I need for it... So it might take couple more weeks. :lol:

But it's ok... I do most of the work inside my head anyways. When I feel that every pieces fits together I do the actual video editing (which may cause some problems because I don't yet know how I'm supposed to solve few technical problems that I will have with it... :( As said in some old thread, I haven't seriously worked on any video since last millennium... )

And because it's very personal approach, biggest problem will be understanding the meaning of the video... It has things in common with your approach but then again, it's totally different... The feelings behind it are similar but still so different...

I don't feel comfortable to tell too much about the actualy video, yet... Because it's not in concrete form yet.. It changes in my head slowly when I rethinking certain parts... Or not excatly changing, it just keeps getting clearer, more detailed. I also have totally empty gap near the end of the video which I haven't yet thought of...

But then again, there's part that has been locked in my mind since the beginning... This scene that I'm working on now is one of them. To me, they are propably the most meaningful seconds of the video... Even working on the scene is hard... When the music starts I often clsoe my eyes and keep getting lost into my mind. Only if I could transfer the image in my mind into this video... That's what I'm trying but it's not perfect job, I simple run out of skills... I don't know how to turn my ideas into reality... :(

And yeah, there's gonna be quite many pictures as I'm better with them than video stuff. I can express myself easier through images because I feel comfortable with them...

But no... It's not going be some dia show. :) Images and video is supposed to blend together flawlessly... We'll see how that's gonna work... Technical part may not be flawless but the idea behind it should be...

And those who waits it to be another ass shaking video... Well, I think I'm going to disapoint you guys... It might not have ass shaking at all... (it's not impossible, tho... if the ass shaking can express some of my feelings then there will be that, too. :) )

Depending on how exactly you want the scene to look, there are ways to get a similar effect by putting to file a cap of a zoom and pan effect; then you make another scene with a similar zoom/pan effect and you overlay that on top of the first zoom/pan you made . . . the effect will be a dramatic scene that should first be paired with the right musical score (at least, as that section of the video). I will be making something like this for my next vid. But I don’t know what effect you really want to accomplish or how you want the scene to convey, so I can’t go any further . . . . I’m just throwing out some ideas.

I know what you mean about doing it in your head . . . most of the time I play the track I want to use for my vid and close my eyes to put scenes together . . . I use this method when thinking of how I want the scene to bring out the passion of the music. For me it’s very visual in my head and then I take it to production. Other times, the scenes just fall in my head and I just get going . . . If you need any help with an editing problem you encounter, don’t forget that 2 heads are better than one, in some cases; just give me a shout.

Like I have said before, editing doesn’t mean a damn unless you have a vision of what you want to see as the final product. You have a vision, and you can’t disappoint; as you know, the only thing that can disappoint is when somebody doesn’t see the vision you do or want conveyed through your art . . . that’s their problem (don’t mean that in a negative way towards them . . . it’s just their problem if they can’t see the beauty that others see)

If this thing means that much to you, then as said PM me when you are frustrated . . . I understand not wanting to tell about video, though . . . I am in my world when I make a vid and I don’t want to open the doors . . . to my soul . . . One thing you can do is have the image fade in and out of those video caps. As we see them, the image will leave and/or take over softly the vid . . . and you can use this with that zoom/pan effect: at a certain point when the pic/vid is zoomed out enough, you make the pic/vid start to fade in/out to give your production a nice smooth flow . . . but I guess you have to know what music you are using to make things work right . . .
