New year . . . New Alizée vid

At times while I was making the edits, I felt like picking up the comp and smashing it on the floor: I had to redo edits many times because the system halted at the worst moments . . . just before I could save my work :twisted:

But, I'd do it all over again.

The music is alright, but not as powerful as the "Cinema" or "angel" vids . . .

I used Paul Van Dyke's "For An Angel" in this one.

P.P.S. strange . . . I find that once in a blue moon when playing the vid, the music and scene get out of que due to choppy playback . . . the music gets ahead of the scene-clip for example at 30secs in the strong beat should line up with Alizèe`s head throw back (you will know what I mean) and at 1:56 the keyboard trumpet-like sound should go in cue with Alizèe`s hip swing in the "ML Pistoia" concert (you will know what I mean there too). If all isn`t well, then just restart the video and it should all fall in que (but you can tell if it won`t if you hear the music playing and the vid hasn`t started yet :twisted: :roll:

Then again maybe I am the only one here with a lame Athlon XP comp and the rest of you will have no idea what I am going through :lol: &?%*&?%$? :mrgreen:

Very nice Orion. I love slowmo effect. Great job choosing the scenes as well. :thumbup: The only thing that I thought didn't go well was the abrupt switch to the scrolling poem. Other then that, I thought it was perfect.

Very good. Keeps getting better all the time. :) You got very nice touch. And you seem to find the best possible clips always for your videos. :)

There was few technical stuff again I could comment but as we have talked about them earlier I'll just advice to look the old conversations. :P

But one thing I'm gonna say which haven't yet discussed. Fonts. :) You seem to use quite often very basic font like ariel with very pure color (bright blue, bright red and so on). It kinda doesn't fit into the video. It looks like it's added before hand by someone else. My suggestion would be use some lighter tones. Or maybe made then slighly transparent. Try out different fonts. Some handwritten font could look very nice for example. Maybe using similar technique as for those images.. They fits perfectly into video...

The texts itself fits the video perfectly, it just the fonts that bugs me. :)

A few things . . .

@ staos: I wanted to add a slow fade in effect from the previous scene to the scrolling poem scene, and make it feel more part of the video (abrupt switch over). If I had a longer version of the music used for the production then I could have made the scrolling poem scene tightly incorporated with the rest. I would have made the scroll go a bit faster and have made the transition to it smoother (I guess I had nothing to work with) all possible if I had a longer version of the song used for the vid. The scenes from Alizée waving hands to the howling voice onwards, were all scenes with sounds I added (ie. I had to get the howling and the wave of the hands just right) I need some one to make me a mix that is 5m17s long to make an exceptionally better vid :cheesy: or I find one myself (concerning this vid, anyway).

@RMJ haha please spare me the tech specs . . . I know . . . but you try doing this on my comp and see if you won't feel like jumping out the window :doc: even a simple calibration made my system freeze . . . so I didn't spend to much time . . . besides my hard drive (74gb :roll: ) is 90% full . . . you know what that means for performance :cry:

About the fonts: yeah, I did not delve too much into the fonts - I went through that pretty fast . . . they bug me too . . . that's why I use so many. I want to see if I have something that looks like the Alizée logo type font (the "A") I have many and did not look through them all. Thanks for the advice . . . always welcomed :wink:

EDIT:@ vive. . . sorry, what titles . . . do you mean the words in certain scenes? If so, then yeah . . . I agree whole heartedly.

And RMJ is right but I am also looking into "Studio Edit Pro" to take out those unwanted titles we see in so many vids . . .

Really nice vid Orion! I wish I had those skills.. And the poem was very good, but moved just slightly too fast. And you could have used some other fonts, but the rest was just fantastic..

Wow, Henrik . . .too fast haha, it was on the slowest possible setting . . . if it were to be any slower it would get extremely choppy. Sometimes, if you can't read English very well and you attempt to read scrolling text, you will get the false sense that it is too fast because you are spending too much time on certain words. Originally the scroll was slanted about 33 degrees (or so) to the left, and that would have made the text appear for longer period on screen . . . changed it to vertical at the last minute.

Hey PB, I thought music would have some great vocals . . . something to do with angels . . . it was a good piece though. I tried to incorporate some Gourmandises scenes for you in a few overlays, but I can't find my video . . . but when I do, I will make a special Gourmandises vid just for you . . .

haha, nice one. There are always many ways to improve a video . . . but did you download my "redone" video in the other thread . . . or the one in this?

The start of the vid, when she is runningwent with the music . . . a rumbling beat that rolls on just like running . . . it got the video started . . . and at certain parts I panned in like in the pub video when she stops running and she smiles, I panned into her face, which went well with the music at that point in the timeline. Near the middle where she is singing in the Pistoia concert outside . . . see how the music kind of calms down yet is strong . . . and then you hear the "shhhhhh" getting stronger . . . that's why I used that pan in shot of Alizée on stage . . . because the sound of the music was leading to something . . . a build up . . . that's why when the beats started, after the shhhhh buildup I coordinated her hip swing with the wave saund. At the end, in the JEAM scene when she presses on the glass and turns her head and then is seen waving . . . when she turns her head you hear the tingling sound and then the haunting voice that went with the wave of the hands. That is music that I added and cut to fit . . . and it took me a while of trial and error . . .

I would love to improve it, but I won't change those secenes I just mentioned, not even the final part where she is overlayed on a shot of Corsica. So, whatever ideas we would come up with, they would have to leave those scenes untouched.

The intro to the vid . . . the poem scene . . . just looks beautiful and bright . . . I could make the text scroll across the screen on the bottom . . . but if I do that, then I have to see what to do about the overlay . . . and whether or not it can stay the way it is, or improve it, now that the scene has changed . . .

Thanks Adi! That video does not have the edits I wanted for the final version (some timig is off etc), so I just enjoy the best parts of it, like the pan and zoom of the camera when she is singing ML in Pistoia, Italy . . . the music goes well with the feel of the shot. I also love the start when Lili is running through the fields . . . All I feel is nostalgia for some reason and I can't place it . . . the music brings it out for me . . . almost as if I can smell the fields she is running through . . . .Seriously!
