First download vobsub. Google it. Then rename your srt file exactly as your video file and add .srt at the end. Keep them in the same folder, and it should work fine if you chose the right sub.

I use Media Player Classic with vobsub. Install them both.
If you have a file named something like this:
Alizée - 2001-06-01 - TV Feature - Stars a Domicile - TF1.vob
Make sure the .srt file is named like this:
Alizée - 2001-06-01 - TV Feature - Stars a Domicile - TF1.srt
All you have to do is play the media file, and the .srt file should be read automatically at the same time. Voila, subtitles in your video!

I did those things still no work. When i used media player classic's load subtitles it tells me something like:
"to load subtitles you have change the video renderer type and reopen the file"
I installed vobsub, and i was playing it through media player classic.
is my version too old? what other media player can i use?
And how do i use vobsub?
i got it now ty for all the help

If that doesn't work, then try with mv2 player. Play a movie, then right click anywhere on the screen, choose "Subtitles" or "Load subtitles" (don't remember which one is there) and add appropriating subtitle. That's it, no need to rename anything.
