Looks like the people in france got a nice xmas present
France could become the first country to pass a law broadly permitting free downloads of copyrighted content from the Internet for private use.
In a move that could thwart the entertainment industry’s attempts to seek legal sanctions for copyright violations, French Parliament members voted 30 to 28 late Wednesday night to accept an amendment proposing such a move.
Attached to a broader copyright law proposal, the amendment–roughly translated–reads: “Authors cannot forbid the reproductions of works that are made on any format from an online communication service when they are intended to be used privately and when they do not imply commercial means directly or indirectly.

It was legal in Sweden, but that was changed 6 months ago  . But no one cares, they still shares and downloads stuff from the internet. I do not know one single person that not does that, except my grandma

In sweden they are trying and trying and trying and trying and trying... but the antipiracy agencys can't stand a chance against the filesharing.. 1.2 millions swedes are filesharing! that's like 1/8 of the population since we only have 8-9 millions....
fuck all lobby organisations culture should be free! if you wanna support the artist.. then go visit their concerts! even though it's nice to have some original stuff from artists that you really like...
Go France!!

This basicly leads to: Will you download new Alizée's album?, i can guess about mabie 80% of the english Alizee forum has her songs downloaded not bought. Her new album probably won't be sold anywhere in North American and in some parts of english speaking europe

well doesn't matter if it's legal or not people still do it, i mean how will they stop what millions are doing. But when Alizee's new album come out i will buy it, it's just paying respect. But i got to say the spoofed files on kazaa is getting really annoying.

I knew industrial music through downloading.
Now, I have a load of cds I bought. If it wasn't for a free way to know it at first, I would have never known it.
I think it's bad for the high sale business (like Alizée) but good for the diversity of styles.

Why do you say that? Amazon.fr almost always picks up products right away. Last thing I ordered was the new Indochine album, which they actually shipped early (on the 15th), so that I'd have it in the USA by the release date in France (the 19th).

In China, you can download music, films, vids ...from Inernet for free ,my classmates often do this to enjoy good films together in dormitory.I know that before the act which Plazmatek referred it was illegal to download sth from Inn,and who offerred download would get into imprisonment.

that only shows china's lack of law, the law that protects artists and creators. Well china lacks of so many laws even the major one's so small one's like this don't get notice at all.

Yeah,it is a problem currently, the laws system is not very complete ,but the government knows it clearly and deeply,we often comment the problem too in China, but you know there needs a long and hard process to sovle the prob .We shall never stopped the reform.
