okay,

basically, give your reviews with your experiences of mp3 players.

or ask questions, and hopefully someone knows the answer. . .

i'll start. . .

5Gen.Video ipod=boo boo piece of crap. . .

i got my new ipod video for christmas, and its a piece of CRAP. . . SHIT!!!. . . . JUNK!!!!

the battery life is suposed to be 12 hours, and only 2 fucking hours for video. . . .

but i geuss my battery has a deffect, and only plays music for about 3-4 hours. . . . :x

so now i have to return it and use my gay-ass one year warrenty for that shit. . . .

also, its almost fucking impossible to put videos on the stupid peice of crap. . .

you would think that quicktime videos would be compatable with IPOD, but no, apple likes to be nazis, and now i have to figure out how to convert WMA and QUICKTIME videos so that they can playon my video . . .

my freind got his on video/mp3 player, that you can only buy online, and now i wish i got that one. . . . i'll post it up when i remember what it was.

FUCK!!!!

overall review: 1/10 (only cause the sound quality is excelent)

conclution:dont buy it, not worth it, battery life is shitty for videos, and fucking expensive (could buy a new 360), hard to put videos on it.
to add to it, i got a defective battery, how many defective ones are out there?!?!?!!?!?!

Yeah, you're right. I listen to the music every day and i don't have already a mp3 player or a CD player so i listen on my PC. And my brother often says he has something to do on PC so i have to let him and to stop listening my music. And if i'll have one it will be super OK. This will be good for school too or for the subway in my way to school.

About the "defective battery"...Did you fully charge it before first use? Then completely drain it and then charge it again? To give it "memory" of its potential or something. Otherwise it'd be underachieving. I don't know. That's what I read somewhere...

I have a 3rd gen ipod and the battery life sucks now. But its supposed to be that way after 14 months or so. Its been past that for me, so I'm surprised that its still alive. I'm debating whether to buy a nano or to just get a replacement battery for it.

lol Fidèle you're a noob :P ... i've got the new 30gb iPod and it's working just fine.
At least mine plays 12 - 15 hours music at one recharge.

If you want it to play vids, you better dl for example the Videora converter, it's very simple to use.

HAHA^ You don't even know how badly you would get flamed for that "join with microsoft" thing you said. There are alot of rabid apple fans and if you say even anything bad whether justified or not, they will bash you like crazy. Damn blind Lemmings.... I love that word.

Heres one article of what Im talking about
http://www.kantor.com/usatoday/quality_.shtml

Anyways, I have a Apple ipod 4th generation. I got the 20 gig for my brother but he left before I could give it to him so now I have a 6-7 hour battery life mp3 player.

Low battery life
Annoying Itunes
Painful and shitty earbuds
okay sound quality
expensive

Ya...

Every mp3 players got its up and downs, and we all know we have a personal bias against something. No way to get around it. If your looking to buy at least search up some consumer reports what your looking to buy. See if the majority are in fact either postive or negative readings and read why its negative. It always help.

I personally have iRiver, its decent. Functional. Though it tends to freeze somewhat, but its easily fixed :D . My iRiver, H10-20gb, doesn't have that many products but oh well. I really do like the the forum for the irivers, helpful bunch of people.

Happy hunting.

I got an iAudio U3 mp3 player for Christmas. I did not know that it existed until I unwrapped my present. A nice player in my opinion. It can play audio and video, read text and display pictures. A bad thing is that the screen is so small, otherwise I have no other objections.

Well. I have the H10 20gb. Its a pretty good player. Though it has some flaws. Well let me get started, hmm.. (Looks at his own iRiver.)

Flaws, ....
First, It seems have to a problem with freezing. This happens to me like once in a while, not a real problem. Just take a toothpick shove on the reset and its all good. Second, I really don't like the fact that the hardware on the thing isn't that good. A previous iRiver version, I'll get back to you on the name, which was discontinued, the particular iRiver went beyond and above its capability with a mod of course. You could ummm... well... View pics and movies on that versions. Third, the lack of items avaliable for the iRiver h10 .Fourth, It doesn't work well with Mac.

Pros, ...
- Color Screen (Prutty.)
- Picture Feature and the ability to put .txt files on the thing.
-Easy compability with Napster and Windows Media, though you could do it manually.
- Good Battery Life :D .
- FM Radio, abililty to record said FM radio. Oh and umm record voice. You can also transfer these unto the computer.
- Support Forum :D .

Well if you want further information, http://www.misticriver.net/ . iRiver site :D .

Anything else Staos about the iRiver?

staos
1st January 2006, 13:43
Thanks windwalker. When you said manually, do you mean drag and drop into a folder? One of the things I disliked about the ipod was having to use itunes and having to update. I want to be able to just drag and drop through windows explorer my music and organizing it though folders.
About the freezing, is it really serious? How often does that happen to you? The ipod tends to slow down whenever I browse through alot of music. Does the iriver have that same issue?
And lastly, exactly how long does the battery last.

Sorry for so many questions.

xWindwalkerx
1st January 2006, 14:17
Np Staos, though its 4:14am here :D . We all want to get the best deal :D .

1. Yes I do mean drag and drop. You basically go from my computer and drag and drop your folders there and transfer back and forth, while having the option of using window media or napsters. The updates for the iRiver are your choice. It doesn't really do them automatically.
2. The freezing, yes. It ussually happens when I press to many buttons to much. The iRiver well sometimes slow down but not ussually.
3. The battery last pretty long, like it went on for 18 hours once :D . The screen turns off after a couple of minute making the battery last longer.

I stumbled upon this :D , so cute :) . Screw the Ipod shuffle.

I was actually getting a nano today, but because of Chrismas it was all sold out. I think nano looks slick and cool and it is sporty since it fits anywhere. And the 4 GB is satisfy enough for a normal music lover.
(not for u music freaks out there)

I got 256MB Creative Muvo.

It can hold Alizée's two albums at best quality (320kbs MP3). I guess I need new player with more space when 3rd album comes out. :(

Le Fidèle
4th January 2006, 04:48
lol, only 266mb? where have you been?

lol, yeah you'll need to get a new one. BUT i'm geussing your mp3 player is small, and if you like small, get the ipod nano, those things are crazy cool!!! and you can have photos of alizee too! 2gb

RMJ
4th January 2006, 04:54
Yea, well... It's old player. It's not even especially small (iPod Nano is smaller). :)

It has been enough for me, tho, as it can hold the music I love. :)

Sometimes I use lower bitrate (160kbps) so it can hold 4 CDs (2xAlizée + 2 other CDs).

Maybe I should get pink iPod Mini like Alizée has. :P

For those of you complaining about iPod's "earbud" microphones...

My sister just got an iPod nano for Christmas. I have long boycotted portable players (I used to have a CD walkman), because I don't like the low sound quality from most of the headphones. I have the huge headphones with the 6-or-so foot cord, but I use it for my computer (obviously the long cable is a problem too) And i'm not going to walk around with huge headphones on.

However, I was pleasantly suprised by my sisters new iPod (30gb), and it's accompanying earphones. The earphones are not uncomfortable, they go over your ear, not in them. However, they are not the mid sized ones that cover most of your ear either, they are probably about the size of a quarter. Large enough to go over your ear without going in them.

Yet the sound quality is amazing!

There had to have been some good advancements in earphones since the 5 or so years it has been since actually used portables, I now find it listenable!

I may think about getting one someday...though I probably won't.

What apple earphones are you talking about? The only ones I know of is the same white small earphones that Apple throws in with all ipods.... and they all hurt and sound like crap. Can you post a picture because I never heard anything about apple including different kinds of earphones before.

Clumsy? If you mean they are big then you haven't seen iPod Nano. :) Nothing clumsy in that.

I said Nano, and then realized it was actually just an iPod 30 gb, and edited my post. As far the the headphones go, I speak the truth, they are not the white apple ones. They are actually gray. Maybe they are not the ones that came with the ipod then....

Makes sense...she complaines about the bud earphones too... so my mistake, I maybe just don't remember that she got those seperately.

Koss the plug ftw! The best earphones imo..
If you like them, you'd be in heaven if you'd hear any Shure's or Etyomotic's model.

Try out Etyomotic ER6i (http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er6i.aspx) or Shure E2 (http://www.shurestore.com/earphones/index.html#eseries) (or E3 or E4) and you'll never want to go back to those Koss the plugs...

Notice, the prices on Ety's and Shure's site is overpriced. You can get them half the price from other places (like for example here (http://www.4yourears.com/) or here (http://www.discountheadphones.com/)).

Shure E2 is around 60 bucks.
Etymotic ER6i is around 95 bucks.

I'll get prolly ER6i next summer (need em at work). Tried them out and they are awesome. Currently I got some old Shure's models (no idea of their model number anymore). They are like 3 or 4 years old and they went bit broken last summer. :(
