Just for the record, the title was something like " U.S. scientist creates a Too-Human Hybrid"
when infact, he did not.

The guy did it to try to settle what exactly is patentable and what isn't. Human life isn't patentable; the courts have ruled that could open the door to involuntary servitude (slavery), but apparently animal life can be (like bacteria as mentioned in the article). The problem comes when we're talking about something that could be 50 percent human and 50 percent something else.
If I built a machine where half of it was made up of flesh and blood and the other half was made up of metal, gears, microchips, etc., can I own it the same as I own a computer? If I built an android where, for instance, the head and spinal column was machine and metal but the rest of the body was flesh and blood (a bio-android), can I own it? What if that bio-android was, say, a copy of Alizee? Same face, same eyes, same hair, same body, but steel and microchips for her brain and spine. Could I own that creation?
These hypothetical situations are ones this guy was trying to answer. It can get very creepy and controversial, but because of that, there has to be discussion about this to come to a consensus.

Kinda figured there was no need to embarass her. It was an honest mistake, and english might not be her second language. If the title gets fixed, is it really necessary to keep a record of mistakes, or do we just need to act like jerks about it? I mean, I know the internet is really stressful, but c'mon. Was kinda hoping you could play it cool, but ah well. Carry on, we could use a couple more posts about the person's assumed stupidity. And if you feel it's too old to be discussed, just don't post in the thread anymore and it'll sink to the bottom.

Well maybe she's blind. You don't want to insult handicapped people, do you?
And besides, once the thread title is fixed, the posts after it about how the title is wrong would just look weird, don't you think?

or maybe the fact that this thread has already seemingly turned into a personal thread and not on the topic in general now...
Tell you what, i'm locking this for a small while, and when it's unlocked, if you wanna talk about what the thread is actually about...good
if not...there's other places, not of a public nature to sort out any differences you may have

Ah, a time out, not a bad idea. Guess the pig-men will just have to wait a bit...
