many singers have tried to rap (Madonna) .....so that isn't the situation....
most French rap is lame......I can see why Alizée hates it........but MC Solaar is good......he even teamed up with Guru from Gangstarr on one track......so that was cool......

That's exactly how I feel... I tried listening to MC Solaar.. but I didn't like it at all, same with all the, well.. crap circulating through the American economy now.

Yeah, ive heard a lot of Eminem's songs, heck even saw some part of the movie he's in. And... it scares me to look at this guys succes.

I couldnt say about French rap, never heard it. Im not big fan of rap really, but it doesnt bother me. It really cant either, both my parents listen to rap :roll:

i dont really like french rap there is a couple song i like....the one mike mentioned is one....Solaar with Guru of gangstarr
I do like rap...even the stuff on now a days though some isnt too good, but i mostly listen stuff like warren g, grouphome, 2pac, dj quick, rakim, andre nickatina, etc.....

Actually I really don't like rap, the only rap singer I like is Eminem, because his lyrics really mean a lot
I've heard English rap, Chinese rap, Russian rap(Tatu), French rap(in "Taxi", my favorite movies, every time I watch this movie, my mum always gets crazy) and Italian rap(Italian rap sounds like a bucket of bad words). But my favorite one still is English one.
Chinese rap sounds like nothing, the lyrics sucks and the singers are awful.
To me, Russian rap feels just like French one. I don't know what they're sing, and I think they are okay.
Wish I can listen to more French rap, this way, I can give this topic a concludsion

Okay i hate rap, hiphop, rnb and such music... I heard a french hiphop song on the radio some days ago.. and i must say that it sounded better than all other english mainstream rap out there.... but after all i hate all rapmusic whether it's sung in latin or chinese...
But i must say that i do respect some of the rappers out there..... (those who got something to come up with and not just copy others work)
I'm a headbanger and a follower of the music that speaks directly to my heart... Rock, Metal, Hard rock... (the music for those who can handle instruments ;)... But as you might have noticed i listen to other music too :)

hmmm........wow........slow down......I love the metal myself......but I still have a soft spot for rap/the whole hiphop culture......I can't stand people who rant on about how "untalented" rappers are......when in reality it takes much talent to be a rapper.....I'm glad I've been exposed to both extremes in music (Metal, and Hip Hop) ....cause it's truely made me a better guitarist musically in the end....
[edit] .......but yeah I do agree with u on the being original part which most mainstream rappers arn't....(puffy, ja rule, and douchebags alike) .....

it was just something that my friend came up with which i thought was pretty funny :lol:

I don't really know much about French rap but I've heard people saying how great Mc Solaar is supposed to be so I decided to find out for myself. http://www.rncb.ac.uk/dl8004/sound.htm Good because there are loads of clips from his albums on there. I liked some of them especially Le 5éme saison. No idea what they are about I had enough of a time discovering the meaning of Alizee songs let alone this. One thing I don't get is this site has a .ac.uk address, which I thought was just for UK universities so how did this place get one?
