Iron Maiden Live At Ullevi Stadion - Gothenburg 2005
The clock is waking me at 7:00. I'm thinking.. omg.. need to get a shower now.. So with some difficulties i made it to the shower.. After the shower my mind is getting clearer and i thought well need to get something to eat now. Then i start to packing some stuff and when i'm packing the Maiden ticket i pick it up and looks at it.. And i think.. OMG.. this is it.. one of the greatest days in my life has just begun.
8:00 my friends arrives to pick me up.. and then our 350 km long journey begins. After 4 hours on the road we finally entered the second biggest city in Sweden. The first thing we have in our minds is to find somewhere to park our car. After the carparking issue we started to walk to a part of the city called "Nordstan" where we wanted to eat something. When we walked through the Avenue we felt the metal atmosphere in the air many headbangers out on the street and almost every pub on the Avenue played Maiden songs. And it's no exaggeration to say that Iron Maiden owned Gothenburg that day.
After finished eating around 14:30 we went to Ullevi stadion. We arrived to Ullevi at 15:00 and there were already thousands waiting outside. They started to let people in at 17.00.. dehydrated and thirsty we got in at last (it was over 30 C and no wind at all). When we enter the stadium me and my friend start running towards the "fence"... well of course not the fence at the front row but the second fence... I mean there where already people queing since thursday outside the stadium....
At 18.30 one of the first supporting bands started to play... Mastodon.. totally junk in my honest opinion... After more waiting.. (sigh) the other support band In Flames entered the stage at 20.00 i think. In flames were lightyears better than Mastodon.. still not my favourite band but the hometown boys made a good show...
20:45 when In Flames went off the stage the enormous thunder of Maiden screams begun... I can still hear it echo in my brain "MAIDEN MAIDEN MAIDEN MAIDEN MAIDEN" totally fantastic atmosphere. I mean... only this was fucking great standing with 57.000 others i mean.. i can't describe it.. you have to be there.. it's.. totally brilliant.
21:22 The intro song starts and i was almost sure that the stadium were going to lift from the ground. Then the band enters the stage and plays Murders in the rue morgue... if the stadium would lift from the ground in the intro song.. i believe all the cheers when the band entered the stage would lift it to the moon.. With legs and feet aching i started to let my rock side of me get loose with all the others... And the next song is Another life... a Maiden classic that haven't been played for ages.. anyway i won't get through all the songs but i must say.. i saw Maiden 2003.. but this.. this was... i'm out of words.. it was so great!! indeed one of the greatest days in my life...
