Yeah, when i first heard about this, i thought this is going to be so cool. Then, i woke up this morning and i thought WTF. Is this a crazy attempt to make England ( London ) look bad, ahead of the olympics. If so, then we don't want to host it. Then, we are being told it was an attack by islamic groups.

It was nice when we hosted the footy [ Euro 96 ] over here, i met so many cool people who came to Newcastle to watch their side at ST James park. I met some great friends, so i hope it will be the same this time.

its all good tho. I dont have nothing against London neways. It just would of been nice to see Paris host it cause of Alizee. Thats the third time Paris has been declined to host the Olympics. Thats really odd.

About 20 odd miles North-West of London. It only takes 30 minutes by car to get into the city...

Yes and unlike today security will be focused on London whereas today most of the anti terrorist police were covering the G8 summit in Gleneagles making London more vulnerable plus London lowered its state of alert recently. However it would have been near impossible to prevent this tragedy. You can't realisically search people getting on buses or the tube.

yea, if i lived in London, something like this would make me move out of that place. I would never live thier, ever. The worst part about it is, these attacks won't stop. It will happen again and again. We need to stop helping them build there homes, and feeding them, and start killing them. Nuke the lot of them, fight fire with fire, otherwise we will get walked all over again.

It is no good Blair telling us " they won't get away with it " because they bloody well will. Action must be taken, and the first step is not to let any of them over here. Ban them all from coming to Britian. If they are not here, they cant do shit. Then, we focus on mass bombing them, not to react.. but to put to bed this war, that will only grow. I'm sure America can lend us a nuke or something, that will destroy the lot of them. They are pure evil, and they must be stopped. No good saying "they are not all like that" that is how this war is still being fought today. If they are not all like that, its just tough luck, we can not continue to filter the good from the evil. Things have gone too far now, they fucked with Britian. Big mistake.

I was hoping that a planet in the Andromeda galaxy would held the olympics.. damn... how wrong i was...

Hehe but actually.. the whole thing is a bit sad no.. after the London incident.. maybe they should give up the win to Paris instead ;)...

No maybe not.. that would make a bad response.. and it would be like a defeat against the terrorists...

DavidAlizée
8th July 2005, 01:12
yeah, true. First i thought the attack, was because of that reason.

Regarding the olympics, i hope we are all still here in 2012.

Well, as a parisian, I'm pretty glad to see the olympic games aren't taking place here.

But still, local taxes will still raise, even though the olympic games won't take place here, since the prime minister said they would try to keep on making the constructions work they were going to do for the olympic games.

What a disgusting, filthy and corrupted country
New York was in the running too, and I must say I'm glad we didn't get it. Good for business and all, but man it would make just living and working here a nightmare. Traffic's unbearable enough already. And like Paris, we had all that West-Side Stadium and other crap to deal with because of it.

Terrible about the bombings, but lets keep that to the other discussion. Could have been as much because of G8 as because of the Olympic Bid win.

I hope is Paris because 2012 I will graduate from university and I can go to Paris watch the Olympics, and also go around France.

My mum say she likes Moscow, I ask her why, and she says because Safin and Sharapova are all from Russia

Well this kinda thing doesn't get put together in just 24 hours or less, I'm pretty sure the bombings were because of G8 or just some terrible thing. I'm glad they're in London because then they have to build a new stadium. Paris could conceivably use that one they have north of the city, forget what it's called.

"Stade de France"

The final presentations were what won it for London over Paris. People here were in a stunned silence when they heard the announcement. But it looks like London could use the economic benefit more so than Paris.

Yes, i can imagine the silence. I was suprised as anyone that London got it. It would have been a nice excuse to go to France, but anyway, i guess London need it alot now.

i was watching the announcement live wanting paris to win the bid so i can use that as an excuse to visit paris in 2012.. but i don't mind that much. London really looked like they deserved it.

While I can totally sympathize with the parisians that don't want this, for all the inconvenience it would cause, I was kinda hoping it would be there so I could attend easily. Never been to one before (stupidly missed my chance when it was in Atlanta and I was living two hours away for a while).

Well England did get the Queen involved, a right logical move.

We Rock, and you all know it, London deserved that in the end, the strong finisher is always in the running at the end of the race.

Basically though, i personally think the main reason paris didn't win is the fact that most of their stadia are already built and therefore the economics of it aren't so severe

However in London, the Olympics will completely renovate old areas of London that really need to be improved, in fact, they are some of the poorest areas in the country. Built there will be entirely new stadiums instead of the 15+ year places in Paris, and therefore on a purely economic front, London was so far ahead.

As well as the final presentation being so polished by our team, well i'm very glad the Olympics are gonna be here, as i'll probably have the job of reporting on them if all goes well so i'm excited about that..

Many other things i'd like to say about it, but i'm off to sleep

P.S. Trust Mark to sum it up in about 2% of the words i used :P
