View Full Version : Has your house ever been broken into to???

Just interesting about this, because I watched a show few days ago and this show says that Canadians usually don't lock their door. No matter they're in the house or they're out. And the host visited some houses, he found that it's true that Canadians usually don't lock the door. And I bomped out this question in my brain.
And are there any Canadians who can tell me, you guys really don't like to lock the door???

Ever seen a criminal with a house on his back????????
Ever seen a criminal with a house on his back????????Now that you mention it, snails have always seemed suspicious to me. And people with big backpacks.
Yet no, I don't lock the doors. Noone really does that here. Also it is not allowed to shoot anyone if he steps in from your front door...

yea i heard ur not allowed to harm the robber, sorta lame because u would definitly want to beat the living crap outta him after he steals ur Alizée en concert CD..

Strange, Here in Australia i have heard that theres a house break in every 10 minutes. and they say that Australia has a pretty low crime rate.

I always lock my door, it is common sense. I live in a private area, but there is nothing to stop the scumbags from driving to the area in a car or a van. My house is like fort knox anyway, even before you arrive in my street, my security camera picks up the van/person on CCTV, and records images frame by frame, upclose. I have around 6 cameras in total, and an alarm system that will make you deaf!
Not to mention, hand print security pad, and voice activated doors. If you get passed that and my dogs, you won't get passed the two Jedi knights, standing at the bottom of the stairs.
As for my car, the only way to steal it, is to tow it away. Then again, as soon as the car tilts to an angle, the alarm is activated. Turst me, you don't want to hear a factory fitted porsche alarm blasting.

No thank goodness. The only time I've had stuff stolen from my house are when I lived with my family and my brother's friends would take something.

Here I think it's every 2 or 4. O_o.

Not had anything stolen but someone tried to get in twice once they smashed in the kitchen window but the alarm went off so they scarpered. Second time someone drilled through under the window catches in the lounge. I guess they were hoping that the windows were unlocked so they could push the catches back to get in (push them to one side with the end of the drill) Sorry bit hard to describe. Also had a bench stolen from the garden. Not great heh? :?

nope...the shed hasn't been broken into either....actually, the only thing near a robbery I have come here, is the time where a couple of fugitives from the nearby prison were hiding in the forest behind our house :P
Mr Bond
6th July 2005, 19:09
No one has got into the shed thankfully. Real problem with where I am is there are two gates on either side at the front leading to the back garden, which can't be seen from inside the house. Makes the place vulnerable.

Half my family lives in Canada (my moms side). Most of them don't lock their doors... but get this...
They (my family) all live in cities and towns except for my grandparents, farmers who live out in the corn and potato fields (they have 600 acres), and all of the houses are about 1/2 mile apart at closest. Yet one day their house got broken into... and I think the perpetrator was from one of only like 6 houses in their "neighborehood"... so pretty close by... They caught him.

Several times, for me, actually. I live about a 1-2 miles away from a "ghetto" and well.. we pretty much suspect it was them every time. I'd come home from school and our TV would be missing, and I'd just sit there thinking "WTF?"
One time the guy was still in the house. Our front door was unlocked, and my kitchen is the first room you see when you enter my house. I walk in, see a bunch of papers on the floor and hear something from upstairs. I grabbed the biggest knife I could find and started screaming stuff like "Get the f*** out of my house!" my back door was promptly opened and slammed shut. It was really scary; I was only like 12.

Yeah, several times - but we do live in the UK, and at the time in Leeds (with one of the most burgled streets in the whole of Europe not far away... as in 3 streets).
We had 8 break ins into cars on our drive, and the house broken into twice at one location (in one year) - and another location I was attacked in the house by a gang of youths armed with crowbars (severly damaged my hand - but they never got past me :D).
Nearly everyone I know in Leeds has had their place broken into at least once, and EVERYONE has at least one close mate whose place was burgled.
Twas not a nice place... and I have finally left the city :)

My house in Moshi, Tanzania was broken into the night I was at a party for teachers who were leaving the International School Moshi that year. When I came home there was a hole in the tile roof. I discovered that my radio, tape player, and all of my clothes were taken. There was a pile of tapes on the floor below the hole. I must have surprised the burgler because the top drawer to my dresser had cash in it. I had Tanzanian shillings, US dollars and British pounds. It felt terrible to think that someone could come to your home and take what they wanted. Several items were stolen from the neighbor's house that same night.

If someone break into my house, I will get a knife and kill him.........but this never happen.
And I found out after I moved to this new house, I ALWAYS forget to lock the door. But that's okay, because I live in the campus, it's safe here

Today they broke in
Yesterday evening i was listening to Les Enfoires while heared a big bang.I didn't payed to much attention, but my Game Boy Color was downstairs and i had the urge to play with it.I didn't went downstairs and went asleep.
This morning my mother wanted to wash herself, but the door was locked from the inside. There was no one there so i went looking through the window from the outside. It was wide open and the lock has been broken.I rushed inside and yelled we got robbed. When i was inside my dad noticed his briefcase was outside with all his papers out.He picked them all up and noticed his Manon-housekeys where away.We called the police and they came.I climbed through the windows to open the door and we noticed the guy didn't stole anything except for the housekeys.
Then i went outside to see if maybe they stole the car.I noticed the garage door was wide open, but again they didn't stole anything. There were 2 motorcycles,2 bikes and a lot of furniture for our new house. Then, when it was light i went outside and found the Manon keys by the frontdoor.Someone tried to enter our house with that keys.
It was really scary, they didn't took anything, while the big stuff is upstairs.Luckily my mom goes to the bathroom a lot so that might have scared him.

Luckily not...there was a lot off stuff upstairs. They opened up our garage and went through the door. They heared someone was coming so they locked themself up in the bathroom. They opened our window and helped throwed the briefcase on the grass. They ripped it open searching for money, but my dad never has money. But his car-keys were in there and some very important documents. They took some keys which they thought were from the house. But it was our house in Manon so they dropped it on the grassfield in the front
I was really scared and i hope to see him again...
As usual the police came by,the houseboss came and the neighbours came. The father of the family next door heared a big bang last night and went to his room to check, but nothing there. So he went back to his bed,he told me this morning.
My mom was so scared and i'm not able to sleep tonight..

I just got some details from my houseboss.I found a footprint on the sink today, which was very little.Size 38 Europe. So the owner told me that some 17 year old fellows are sometimes running around here robbing places. This really freaks me out,and there is nothing we can do.We sticked up 2 extra locks on each door and everything is always shut tight ( like we did before ) but now it's extra
Today i'm staying up until 4 o clock, which is 4 hours from now.Can you imagine that i'm scared.
