Yes, I admit the french songs sound alot better but I'm fed up and I'm not twenty aren't very bad ... I just listened to them to understand the french versions.
Bottom Line: Her french is far better than her english.

What Luba said

I'm Fed Up & I'm Not Twenty are great in their own right (Except for "okie-dokie" and "boogie-woogie"...wtf?), but I still prefer her French to her English. Despite the fact that I much agree with David about how she speaks English. :cheesy:

Alizée has a sweet english

She try to sing it perfect, but she should sing in french, this is better

Her english songs are also great, but the lyric... The Translator, who transalted the french songs to english,
he changed many words! Or they put english word in the song,
wich sounds like a word of the french version, but the words have no meaning for the text...
And i think the english versions have not the same story like the french.
The meaning of the song is the same, but the lyric and the story is another...

She has a sweet english, because of her french accent
I love to listen to her english, but her french songs are many better!!!

Youpidou is good, but it sounds 'harder' as the french version....

Also, as a native English speaker, I am more predisposed to liking her English songs. They're the only 4 where I really understand the meaning (even if the translation is so inaccurate).

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of I'm Fed Up just because it makes no sense. I love her accent but.. I'd rather listen to JEAM most of the time. I do like I'm Not Twenty.

Learn french and you understand

She wanted with the english songs more succes in the foreign States.
Germany, or great britain...
But because of the strange lyrics she hadn't much succes.
When she makes a song only in english, then it would be a great song!
But a french song translated into english... ...it's complicated and strange...

Her accent is sweet and her voice impresses me very much, but she has to work on the lyrics

her english is so sweet especially i'm fed up

Quoted for truth.

"Its not a problem,
I lazy round,
Bubbly and stubborn,
I lazy round"

Gets me every time. Especially the way she says stubborn.

The best part of her english song is in I'm not twenty:
"get up and start to smile guy, do it for me!"

And i really love the " mon choucou " of "Youpidou"
Why she did it not in the french version...?

I like how Lili sings both the English and French versions of these songs... but Mylène's English lyrics just can't stand-up to their French counterparts. Youpidou/Youpidoo is a very noticeable exception to that, though. There, I think the English lyrics actually pack a much stronger punch. Odd.

I've always wondered so too. Also, the moans (? ) in I'm Fed Up are awesome!

Yes. "I'm fed up" is more emotional than the french version.
But only at the CD, live is the same... it's just a nice detail on CD...

Any song she sings in any language is beautiful. I, too, prefer to listen to her in French, but her English songs have her French accent and are wonderful as well. As for "mon choucou", it was added to the English version and she probably thought it was silly or amusing. Whatever the reason, it was very cute.

I have the CDs that have both versions on 1 CD. This is the best of both since I get to hear her in French and in English on the same CD.

boogey woogey in "I'm Not Twenty" sounds kind of awkward so thats why I like the French version better.

The English version isnt bad except sometimes it doesnt make sense.
IMO the French version is more smooth and natural. :bounce:

But other English songs are not so good than the French versions...

Well, the issue is that these songs were designed in French, so naturally, the lyrics in French would more naturally match the pace and the rhythm of the song. Converting it into English, as a result, can cause dischord, so words and phrases have to be rearranged to more closely match the cadence of the song, but then you run into situations where you may end up clouding the original meaning of the words. Of course, this is a universal problem with converting any language into any other language.

It is perfectly possible for a song originally designed in English to be sung by Alizee and come out perfectly in English. La Isla Bonita is a perfect example. She sings absolutely fantastic English given the opportunity.

You nailed the point! I agree 100%. Now all I need is to find the La Isla Bonita song/vid.......

Makes me regret taking Spanish right now at school
Should've taken French......

I found the video in a flash file on "Shermix.com" however... the site does have someone adult material and would not recommend linking it here... the reason for the lack of link now.

There is a way to pull the song, from that flash file to mp3. The only problem is that some would have to know what they are doing. I can try, in theory I can perform the coding, I have the nessessary applications to rip if from file.

The way it works incase you are wondering - is to record in mp3, your sound device. now.. you would have to turn off all of your sound alerts in windows and 3rd party applications. You would not get backfground noise because all of the recording would be within the system. I just hadn't had time to record clean up a live version and throw it out there on the net. Normally I would not do such a thing... but, it is infact a free video.

OMG I got a second pair of lips from that post!

La Isla Bonita mp3 (http://s8.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2PPAYRULIC0VP2T1XH2RPEKZXC)

There you go. It's a straight rip from the performance, so it includes the talking at the start. Thanks to Snatcher42 for originally giving me this. :)

I think it's one of her greater performances, among one of the best. She melts class and sexiness together in a way that few are able to duplicate. It really showed in that performance.
