I apologize if this is in the wrong thread.

I just got Alizee en Concert for my birthday, and I'm having some trouble with it. The picture is in black and white and it's bouncing up and down and I can't see anythiing. I think that my DVD player doesnt support the french DVD, but on the box it says it works on all types of players. Anyone know what the problem might be?

I assume that since you live in the US, your DVD player is only capable of playing NTSC DVD's, which is the accepted standard over here. The Alizée En Concert DVD is in PAL format which cannot be played in an NTSC player.

What you're probably seeing when it says it works on all types of players is the Region coding. DVD players and DVD's in different areas of the world are given different Region codes that aren't cross-compatible. However, the En Concert DVD is Region free, meaning it can be read by all players given that they're capable of playing PAL discs.

You might be able to find a PAL-capable DVD player in a store in the US, but they're not very common since most TV's here only play NTSC anyways. It'll probably be easier to find one online. Also be sure it converts the PAL signal to NTSC, or else your TV won't know what to make of the information it's receiving.

Another solution would be to just play the DVD in a DVD-ROM, since it doesn't matter to a computer if it's NTSC or PAL.

Thank you Moco, you've been a big help. I think this DVD will be worth the extra money if I have to get a new DVD player!

Save your cash, just get a big assed monitor, some surround sound etc, and a dvd player for your comp (assuming you don't have one). Much better value for money 8) :P
