All the time I was asking myself who is that woman. She seems to yell at Alizee, but Alizee seems to be not interesting in what she sais.
She looks quite "hip" in that pic, and yeah, she doesn't really seem to be paying attention

^Cool, you made it from caps of the video where it tilts smoothly up? Good idea.
Yup, that's how it's made. Combination of several frames. I knew hardcore fan notices it right away. :) (But who can find the edges of frames? )
10 new (though heavily watermarked) photos from the Korean showcase at:
http://www.justalizee.com/index2.htm
These are very nice ones. Too bad those watermarks... I'd really like to see the original ones! (They are 1648x2464 pixel photos)

It looks photoshopped...
It's Not Audrey...
It is not Sandry...
It's Stephanie...
or
It's Letithia...

Wait,lemme do smart
The sun comes from the back of Lili.Which means her legs stop the sun,so a shadow falls over the legs of the dancer. Also her shadow is at the back of the danser
Did i do smart or what :cheesy:

A perfectly good photo to me. And what is the point of photoshop this pic?
I don't see any deeper meaning to this, it's just Alizee talking to someone.

I was right about to say that, we aren't talking about a fake nude pic, we're talking about her talking to someone. Whats the point of photoshoping that

Those dark and light areas on the edge of background and legs/arms/chin on the girl and Lili are artifacts caused by bad source (ghosting effect) or too heavy compressings.
And as earlier shown in this thread already, better version exists:

The main light source is closer to right top corner. Shadows are thrown on the left side of the objects. It's also, most likely, cloudy day as there's heavy ambient light as shadows are hardly visible.

Nice new picture too. Glad to see she's still enjoying Euro Disney. She looks pale though, has she spent a lot of time working and or being a mother? Let the speculation begin...

This isn't really anything new, but I found these two pictures in the Concert program, and I don't think we have them outside the program. (unfortunately, they are in the quality of the program as I cut them out from there, and yes picture 2 is at the correct aspect ratio).

Glad you like 'em. :)
Could be better, tho. As said scanner had bad settings, in make up photo whites got burned and black level wasn't very good (you should see the edge of her face and hairs but it's hardly visible even after editing). The JPVA ones are pretty good, but they could use some more retouching.
(where did you get the program?)
Bought it couple years ago online from some French girl . Paid seriously overprice but atleast I got it. And that's all that matters. :)
She had kept it in extremely good shape and it's still in perfect condition (I think, one couldn't tell if it's ever opened). I very rarely take it out of plastic...

Oh well, maybe I should turn the subtitles on someday again. :)
I usually watch it without subtitles so I miss some things she says. I rather focus on her beautyful voice than the subtitles. :)

Hmm, I got the exact opposite from SAD '03.
She is asked if "it was over" and she says no.
21
00:01:18,079 --> 00:01:21,326
So Alizée, it's the second time
you take part in this game of Stars à Domicile.
22
00:01:21,426 --> 00:01:22,119
Yes.
23
00:01:22,219 --> 00:01:23,528
Do you remember the first time?
24
00:01:23,628 --> 00:01:24,645
Yes.
25
00:01:24,745 --> 00:01:25,388
Was it a moving experience?
26
00:01:25,488 --> 00:01:26,825
Yes. Very moving.
27
00:01:26,925 --> 00:01:27,513
Is it over?
28
00:01:27,613 --> 00:01:28,305
No
29
00:01:28,405 --> 00:01:31,277
Well, anyway, this second time,
things just happened marvelously.
At this point the host of SAD sees that Alizée will not go into details. Alizée gives this cute little look like no it's not over but let's move on.
Anyway I was just curious because it was the right time frame (2001) and it looked like Julia. Julia was a bit overwhelmed by the whole thing but I believe she would stay in touch with Alizée.
Nice pic RMJ.

Yup... I don't like that kind of images either. :)
But as said before, i was just testing few things... The result is just coincident. :)
I tried to be careful not to lose too many details from the image. As you see, her eyes, eyebrows, eyelashes, lips, and so on still got all the details left. Skin lost details but there wasn't much to lose in the first place. The thing was same with dress.
Hairs on the other hand is pretty much drawn by me (that was one of the test I did :P ). They got very little original details left.

it can get better. But it doesn't matter what software is in use. Only thing that matters is how you use it.
In your images, it's quite obvious that you just throwed in some filters and that's the result. Very little manual work done. :)

All it needed were a few filters because when you do too much work, it becomes like a wax figure (as in your retouching - even my attempt still brought back dull results) . . . and actually it matters a great deal what software you use becasue some programs have more advanced filters/filters/engines that make a great difference . . . (but this photo, I wouldn't use on my best program for retouching, nor on one with the least features . . . I would'nt waste any manual work time on that pic . . .
. . . I would have found a clone for her hair from another photo; same for her skin etc . . . but some photos are not worth the extra work, as in this example, since it is very poor quality and there are similar pics (as in the High res you posted). That's my opinion on the matter and it won't change . . . because I am right, you will agree . . . .
P.S. No . . . I don't want to discuss this any further
EDIT>>> here are examples of more powerful filters v. other software that have weaker filters . . . sometimes it isn't the filter itself that is the question, but HOW each filter plugin operates . . . as said, certain programs/software have different filters etc., and it matters a great deal what software you use becasue, though some filters are called the same (ie. noise filter), some programs use filters with more power . . . when you select the best filters, then you can worry about "how you use it."
but . . . mieh . . . whatever blows your hair back . . . I guess :cheesy:

All it needed were a few filters because when you do too much work, it becomes like a wax figure (as in your retouching - even my attempt still brought back dull results) . . .
It wasn't because of too much retouch but because of different goal. You choose to way to loose all the details and make it look like wet paint. I choose to keep some small details and make it look more clean. It wasn't accidental look caused by too many filters. Each filter and brush was used only on the areas where I wanted them (that's how I kept the small deteails while I smoothened the big areas).
and actually it matters a great deal what software you use becasue some programs have more advanced filters/filters/engines that make a great difference . . .
Actually it matters very little what software is used. Practically all the image editors has manual arithmetic filters and custom brushes if you need some effect to be done.
To me, image editing isn't just applying filters to image. Anyone can do that and it has no personal touch on it.
I would'nt waste any manual work time on that pic . . .
That's the difference between me and most of the people. I'm willing to put time on every image I ever open. Especially if it's about Lili. No matter how bad the source is.
. . . I would have found a clone for her hair from another photo; same for her skin etc . . .
Of course, but that wasn't the goal. Goal was to play with the old bad quality scan. If I had wanted to get it look real good I would have put some more time to it and remake the textures (and not to draw new hairs for her but fixed the errors in real ones). 10 more minutes and it would have looked like this:

10 more minutes and who knows what it would be...
but some photos are not worth the extra work, as in this example, since it is very poor quality and there are similar pics (as in the High res you posted).
Similar pictures, but not the same ones. That's huge difference. Every picture is unique. Every picture is worth to work on if you are on the mood. It's irrelevant how bad the source is or if there is similar looking but better quality sources.
P.S. No . . . I don't want to discuss this any further
You know I can't stop if someone questions my methods.
That excatly kills the fun in whole editing. If you don't put your personal touch in it you might aswell not to do it at all. Anyone could throw couple filters on it and save it. What would be use of sharing it then ?
Would you share a video if only thing you did was to drop some clips to program that automaticly edits them and filters them and outputs something you have no control ? It surely wouldn't be personal like your videos now are.

You just can't keep painting the image like that, if you care about quality . . . The more you are touching it, the more it looks waxy/fake color . . . don't tell me you can't see that in your picture revision??
Doing what you are doing is one thing, but fixing a picture is another . . . you are mixing 2 different aspects of picture enhancement/retouching:

Of course I'm seeing it. I'm not even try to hide it. It's not the goal.
Like you did. You didn't hide the wetty paint look in your image. It wasn't restauring picture but making it look nice to without caring about loosing the details.
Doing what you are doing is one thing, but fixing a picture is another . . . you are mixing 2 different aspects of picture enhancement/retouching:
I have not once in this conversation mention restauring picture. So how can I mix it with editing it ?
Here, I have uploaded links for all the pics . . . the ones I worked on only took me 10 mins, and they don't look weird. You are overdoing it :P
No, I'm not over doing it. I did not try to save the original look. Why would I have painted 100% new hair for her if I wanted it to look like original ?
And no, yours doesn't look original either. It looks more like wet painting than photograph. Beside, the detail loss is way too big to qualify the image as restaured picture.
remember that the goal is to clean the noise . . . you are repainting the whole pic until it looks like a wax figure . . . I understand about it being for practice and because it is fun (I agree), but that's one thing . . . this is another
No. There was no noise to clean. I actually added some noise because it had too few of it.
The goal was just to edit the picture. The goal was to make it whole new picture. The goal was not restauring the picture.
Again, why would I have painted hairs from scratch if I had been restauring the picture ? That wouldn't make any sense. Look at them, they are 100% paint brush. No original hairs left. Only the space it fills is about the same (except on left side where I changed the look of it quite a lot).
To prove once again the point, here's picture that IS restaured. This isn't supposed to be artistic. It's purpose is to save as much details and still get rid off the artifacts of scanned magazine.
http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/5391/rmjalizeepjva37kc.th.jpg (http://img294.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rmjalizeepjva37kc.jpg)
The goal was different, the result was different. That's how it works.
I have no feeling in the last image. It's just filtered image, with 2 mins of work. It's nice as is but it doesn't come from my heart. The original picture that I posted here is the one that comes from heart. It's the one I have put my feelings on.
Btw.... Using CMYK color space (the one you used in your pictures) in pictures showed on the net isn't good idea. Some programs can't even show them right (and some even refuses to open them). It's better to use normal RGB color space. People will see them wrong most likely. And because they don't know that they looks wrong they assume it's what it is supposed to look like (and that's very different from what it really is supposed to look like).

I think I missed the part where you said that you wanted to paint and lose the detail in the pic . . . it would ahve saved me some time in discussing this . . . . . My bad, I guess
But here is the response to your previous post . .
If you speak of losing detail, then you should look at the hair and face of your picture. You are doing a great job, but you are losing too much detail in that it looks more painted than just noise filtered. Depending on the picture, it should always be kept as close to the original as possible; once you start using too many brush strokes, it begins to lose all detail in skin hair etc . . .you can put the detail back into the hair, skin and other areas . . . I just don’t like that painted look, as it stands now . . . but you could probably get better results if you stick with it. But I wouldn’t waste all this time on such a bad pic because there is already a better version out there (this is from a magazine, right?)
Actually it matters very little what software is used. Practically all the image editors has manual arithmetic filters and custom brushes if you need some effect to be done.
To me, image editing isn't just applying filters to image. Anyone can do that and it has no personal touch on it.
We are not talking about image editing here, this is called retouching . . . that’s what we’ve been talking about specifically. It’s no secret that many programs have many filters . . . once again, there are filters that are more powerful and protect things like skin tone/detail while removing noise . . . when cleaning a picture (if you were to have used such filters, it would have given you the results you have been looking for), it is not about personal touch, it is about doing the best job possible to make a picture better than the original quality. When you edtit a picture, then you become the artists and let your imagination run with it.
That's the difference between me and most of the people. I'm willing to put time on every image I ever open. Especially if it's about Lili. No matter how bad the source is.
Once again you are missing the point . . . I also put time on every image I work on. ON this pic once it starts to take on too many brush strokes and you begin to lose detail, then that’s a sign to stop . . . unless you like the results. You have lost shading and other fine detail . . . the face feels like it is one slab of paint, and the hair seems like it is melting on this wax figure. Did you start with the filters before you arrived at this point?
Of course, but that wasn't the goal. Goal was to play with the old bad quality scan. If I had wanted to get it look real good I would have put some more time to it and remake the textures (and not to draw new hairs for her but fixed the errors in real ones). 10 more minutes and it would have looked like this:
10 more minutes and who knows what it would be...
But you didn’t fix the errors in real ones, you just replaced errors (from small detail to no detail) The dress seems out of place at the point where it meets her face. Look at that section on the original and you will see that it is much better than yours . . .
Similar pictures, but not the same ones. That's huge difference. Every picture is unique. Every picture is worth to work on if you are on the mood. It's irrelevant how bad the source is or if there is similar looking but better quality sources.
Yup, just that it should be kept as close to the original as possible or it begins to lose detail and look like it has been brushed up . . . retouching remember not editing;)
You know I can't stop if someone questions my methods.
Haha, nah I am just really talking about how the pic looks . . . don’t worry bro, I use the same methods . . . I guess we all do to a certain extent . . . we just look at pictures differently, I guess . . .
You are not editing . . . you are cleaning and retouching (that’s specific). In this case, your personal touch is the amount of detail loss you want to add . . . really, how the end result differs from the original, as far as cleaning it goes . . . But, editing wanting to add personal touch is an understatement. Here it is not so much about personal touch , it is about cleaning the picture as best as possible . . . not the same personal touch as in editing video and pictures, though . . . Those videos have my own personal touch . . . but the pics I uploaded have nothing to do with personal touch, but with personal retouching, I guess you could say . . .
Still, though, I respect your work very much because I know how hard it is and how much you enjoy it . . . I am even certain that if you take more time on it, it can only get better . . . but then I wouldn’t have anything to say . . . so stop . . . ok? ;)
(but knowing what you just told me in your last post . . . all I can say that all I have said is irrelevant, since you are doing something different . . . but why lose hair detail and stuff . . . ok, you are NOT restoring a pic . . . I get it now . . . give me a few tries and I will understand
btw, here is the retouch I made from the original:

I thought the only thing wrong with RMJ's original one was that her hair looked so one-colored. I decided to run the original picture through two despeckles in photoshop and then patch that onto her hair from RMJ's version. It's a quick job but I think it improves it. Obviously more work can be done around the edges, but it's a start.

It looks painted and not noise filtered because it's painted and not noise filtered.
I did not lose any detail in the hairs. There was nothing to lose as it's drawn from scratch.
I lost minimal amount of details in face, basically only on the edge of hair and face. The skin still has it's texture even tho it's sligtly smoothened. Eyebrows, eyeslashes, eyes, nose, lips, teeth have all the details saved. Where do you see the great loss of details ?
Only part where I didn't care lost of detail was her dress. It's only part filtered with median filter. Everything else is done piece by piece with brushes. Skin has slight texture visible (the original image didn't have any better as it was so full of artifacts). You can even see details in her nails (she haven't cut her nails in couple weeks...).
Depending on the picture, it should always be kept as close to the original as possible;
Wrong. Only your goal matters. Not the source.

There's no such thing as wasted time on image editing. If you love it then it's all valuably used time.

And if there is, what does it matter ? I'm quite satisfied what came out of this. Especially as the point was trying to make nice image out of crappy scan.

It's not about making it better than original quality. It's about making it look like you want it to look like. In some cases it's worse than the original. All depends you and what you want it to look like. It's all about personal touch.
Once again you are missing the point . . . I also put time on every image I work on. I'm not missing any point here. My goal wasn't keep the orignal look. I did not lose any detail that I didn't want to lose. And what comes to face, even the original version of mine has more details than your latest version. Open them into image editor next to each other. As said, it still has even skin texture visible, as well as the smallest fine details that was wanted to save (eyes, mouth, nose...). It was smoothed sligtly but it still has very well pronounced details.
But you didn’t fix the errors in real ones, you just replaced errors (from small detail to no detail) The dress seems out of place at the point where it meets her face. Look at that section on the original and you will see that it is much better than yours . . .
As said, 10 minutes work. That includes finding the HQ picture, resizing it to about right size, cutting the dress out, masking it to old scan, deforming the dress, drawing some shades, cloning some new parts, color correcting, gamma correcting... If you can do better job in 10 minutes then I'm willing to see it.
But it's not perfect at all. I never said it was. I can see dozens of errors on it with one look. Like the lack of shade under her chin (the one you noticed), unequal shades, bad edges, edges from original HQ image, lack of shades under arms (I only added shades under fingers), lack of shade under bracelet, deformed pocket, cloning errors, the edge of hairs and dress, list goes on... But I never did those because the purpose wasn't make this image at all. It was just something to show to you as you were talking about loaning textures from other images. I took it even further with qutie nice result (considering time used).
You are not editing . . . you are cleaning and retouching (that’s specific).
Editing. Altering. Retouching. All the same.
In this case, your personal touch is the amount of detail loss you want to add . . . really, how the end result differs from the original, as far as cleaning it goes . . . If I want to do quality improving without feeling then it's couple minutes process like in the last example showed in this conversation. 2 minutes and it outstands (no offense...) any other image showed during this conversation when it becomes to clarity and amount of details. It has some grain (like in dress) but it doesn't matter if details is what is wanted. I could have get rid of them but it wouldn't matter as there's no real details hidden behind them (the texture of dress, for example, is lost already when scanned from magazine. It's not recovarable what ever you do. Only choice would be to create texture from scratch, but it's not real then... ).

Yes, fixing the original hairs would have been easy task. As you see in my last image.
It just wasn't the point. I wanted to draw the hairs. It was part the test I told in original post. Recreating hairs from scratches... without cloning or anything. Just plain drawing.

@ RMJ:
It looks painted and not noise filtered because it's painted and not noise filtered.
I did not lose any detail in the hairs. There was nothing to lose as it's drawn from scratch.
And when you paint, you lose detail . . . look at the hair, it has not detail from the original it looks pasty/nebulous . . . and the false colors in the face and dress really take away from the picture as a coherent whole. The original had detail in hair . . . and that is aside from the noise that was covering it . . .as I said there are filters out there that protect the skin while deleting the noise . . . after you do that, then you can look at the pic and decide how to best edit it, instead of losing all the detail. Wrong. Only your goal matters. Not the source.
You started with a pic that was full of noise . . . if the pic was HQ, then there would be no need for you to draw the hair and change the facial textures etc . . . since the pic HAD noise, you decided to draw over the original detail . . . and I am saying that a powerful filter backed by a great engine could have taken care of the noise, while leaving the skin tone/detail . . . the source is your inspiration . . . but in this case there is no goal other than to change the noise . . . you are redrawing “hair” by deleting, detailed hair (ie. Strands/natural).
It's hard to make everyone like your pictures. Especially if you aren't making them for others but yourself.
Haha, VERY true . . . but it isn’t your picture. . . it’s a cutout froma mag or something and you are cleaning it . . . you are not editing it . . . there are different types of editing and you are putting everything in one pot when all you are doing is one thing . . . cleaning an original pic . . . If you want to see picture editing, then look into Tim Bret-Day (fashion photog and photoshop CS2 pro) and you will see editing a picture . . . you are retouching . . . (specificly),
There's no such thing as wasted time on image editing. If you love it then it's all valuably used time.
Where's the btter version ?
And if there is, what does it matter ? I'm quite satisfied what came out of this. Especially as the point was trying to make nice image out of crappy scan.
Of course I love it, but retouching can only go so far, whereas editing a picture (making a single picture out of many layers etc.) can go as far as ypou would like and that’s the real fun part, imo, not retouching, since it only goes so far (it is still funYES, but different)
Same things. Editing, altering, retouching... all the same. All means working on image.
Like I said above, you are specifically retouching a photo since you are cleaning it, your altering has come by way of deleting detail, which is a no no. But I believe you are good enough to add that detail ;)
It's not about making it better than original quality. It's about making it look like you want it to look like. In some cases it's worse than the original. All depends you and what you want it to look like. It's all about personal touch.
Yes, it is about personal touch, and if you like to delete detail from hair, for example, then I guess that’s your personal touch and no one can fault you for that . . . it’s what you see as artistic . . . and that’s good. But “artistic”, in this sense is kind of confusing since there is a HQ pic you posted and you’re artistry is retouching a “noisy” picture, when there is a beautiful version already in existence . . . but I guess it is good for practice, and there I am with you 100%
I'm not missing any point here.
My version was to show the edges of where you can take it . . . any more and (without the more powerful filters) you would lose a great bunch of detail . . . but if you say that you “did not lose any detail that” you “didn’t want to lose,” then I can’t say anymore on the matter except to say good work
As said, 10 minutes work. That includes finding the HQ picture, resizing it to about right size, cutting the dress out, masking it to old scan, deforming the dress, drawing some shades, cloning some new parts, color correcting, gamma correcting... Yeah you did a great job . . . but this was about your picture you started retouching (see above^)
Then you don't understand image editing as I do. I put my heart in it. What ever I do (for me). It's always personal for me. It's not some automated process where I tell editor to throw in some filters and that's it... No, every action is thought and wanted.

And when you paint, you lose detail . . .
No. You got it all backwards...
When you paint you create details. If you got blank canvas it's blank until you paint some details on it. There's no way to lose details if you paint on blank canvas. There is nothing to lose because it's blank.
look at the hair, it has not detail from the original it looks pasty/nebulous . .
Yes, it doesn't look like original. And it wasn't supposed to look like original. It's drawn from scratches. It has nothing in common with the original hairs. It wasn't ment to have anything common with the orignal hairs.
. and the false colors in the face and dress really take away from the picture as a coherent whole.
The colors are same as in the original scan. I did not do color correction nor contrast correction to it. Colors aren't corrected in your image either, so I don't see why that would be a problem.
The original had detail in hair . . . and that is aside from the noise that was covering it . . .as I said there are filters out there that protect the skin while deleting the noise . . . after you do that, then you can look at the pic and decide how to best edit it, instead of losing all the detail. But that’s just my preference . . . and like I said before, I respect what you are doing, I just don’t like the look
As said many times before... I did not try to keep the details in the hair. I re-drawn them. 100% re-drawn.
And secondly, as said many times before, I do care if there is filter that can save the details when I'm doing art. I save the details that is needed to save and make others disappear. I don't give that to filters to decide. I do the decision what is left and what is not. It's not everyone to like. I do art for myself. I know that not everyone will like it and that's ok to me. I don't have no mission to make them like my art. They either do like it or not. It's not my decision.
I don't know how I could make you understand that it wasn't my plan to try to leave all the details... There is no filter that could have done the job that I had in my mind. It's not something that filter can do. No matter how powerful it is. I did not try to get rid of noise. It wasn't the purpose.
No other goal than deleting noise ? What kind of art that would be ? It would be image restoration. Not art. And art was what I did not image restoration.
As I gave you example, I could have done that image restoration in 2 minutes. But that I did not want to do. I wanted to do something original. Not boring image restoration that doesn't need any artistic view.
Haha, VERY true . . . but it isn’t your picture. . . it’s a cutout froma mag or something and you are cleaning it . . . you are not editing it . . . there are different types of editing and you are putting everything in one pot when all you are doing is one thing . . . cleaning an original pic . . . If you want to see picture editing, then look into Tim Bret-Day (fashion photog and photoshop CS2 pro) and you will see editing a picture . . . you are retouching . . . (specificly),
As I have done 19 (or so) years computer graphics in form or an other, I'm quite sure I know what is editing and what is not. Whatever you want to call it, it's editing to me. When you open image and start editing it it's editing. No matter what excatly you do to it.
And no, I was not cleaning the original picture. If I had wanted to clean it I would have taken that 2 minutes that was needed to do it. But I did not do that. I went my way.
Like I said above, you are specifically retouching a photo since you are cleaning it, your altering has come by way of deleting detail, which is a no no. But I believe you are good enough to add that detail ;)
As said many times before. I was not cleaning the picture. I was not trying to save unnecessary details. I was not trying to restoring the old image.
And still, you haven't showed me where is those lost details you are talking about ? The skin has the texture, the face has the details. Where is the great loss you are talking about ? (Exluding the hairs as it's covered 10 times before. THere was nothing to save as I re-draw them. You can't save details if there isn't any and blank canvas does not have any details.)
Ok, the dress ? Yeah, I lost few details in it. But was they needed ? Especially when they were more likely artifacts than real details. So where's the great loss ?
Yes, it is about personal touch, and if you like to delete detail from hair, for example, then I guess that’s your personal touch and no one can fault you for that . . .
No, I did not want to lose the details from the hairs. I wanted to re-draw them all together. I deleted the old hairs and draw new ones. It was totally irrelevant if the old hairs had details or not. I wasn't interested of them.
it’s what you see as artistic . . . and that’s good. But “artistic”, in this sense is kind of confusing since there is a HQ pic you posted and you’re artistry is retouching a “noisy” picture, when there is a beautiful version already in existence . . . but I guess it is good for practice, and there I am with you 100%
That HQ picture isn't the same. It is taken from same performance at almost same time at almost same angle at almost same distance. But it's not the same. The angle is different, the face is different, the position of head is different, the expression is different... It's totally different image.
My version was to show the edges of where you can take it . . . any more and (without the more powerful filters) you would lose a great bunch of detail . . .
Your image lost more detail than my original (except on hairs but that I have cover 10 times... ). I can do comparation image if you don't see it yourself. So you went way too far, too, especially as your purpose was to show what not to do and you fall in same hole yourself.
No one is talking about your heart here . . . just the picture . . .
The picture is part of my heart. To you it might look like another picture but to me it is part of my deepest feelings. When ever I create any art I include part of myself into it. You might not see it but I see it. When I see the image I feel complete. I feel what I felt when I created it. All the memories, all the mental images flashing, the music I was playing during the editing...

We have long history of arguing these things... If he doesn't get hurt I don't get hurt either. Nothing here is ment to be offensive. Altho, I admit sometimes it might sound like it but it's just the passion that makes it look arrogant.
We kinda understand each others feeling on these things but still the very deepest of them cannot be understood and those are the ones that makes us to argue all over again... It's basically pointless arguing as we neither of us can win. Neitehr of us can understand the deepest feelings of each others mind and heart. It's place where noone but the person itself can fully understand the true feelings... But we can try to understand it... We can try to get some sort of view of those feelings. It's often wrong or deformed view of them but it's still something. It's better than nothing...

(EDIT: @ RMJ)
No. You got it all backwards...
When you paint you create details. If you got blank canvas it's blank until you paint some details on it. There's no way to lose details if you paint on blank canvas. There is nothing to lose because it's blank.
With all do respect, RMJ . . . you are creating arguments now bro; you did not start with a blank canvass, you started with hair . . . and then you made blank (?). . . which goes to show that we have not been talking about a blank canvass painting/drawing from scratch, we have been talking about a pic; hence, all the talk about filters etc . . . NOT blank canvas. Of course, you create “detail” (?) when starting from a blank canvas, but you didn’t start from a blank canvas. Not talking about your abilities, you don’t have to tell me twice about your abilities (I have actually praised them ). I understand, though, what you are saying . . .
Yes, it (the hair) doesn't look like original. And it wasn't supposed to look like original. It's drawn from scratches. It has nothing in common with the original hairs. It wasn't ment to have anything common with the orignal hairs.
Well, it looks like it does have things in common to the original hairs . . . you are trying to redraw the hair as close to the original as possible. The only reason your hair doesn’t look like the original is because it is not . . . it is “scratches.” And I am simply stating that imo, the real hair, with less noise (after filtering) looks better. In the case of this pic, the original is best with less noise possible, and your drawing of the hair with “no noise” actually gives it an “out of focus” type noise, so to speak . . . visually you are substituting one form of “noise” for another . . . and that’s what it looks to the eye. Now, the idea behind your work is totally different, that is another story, and one in which I cannot find any “faults.” Why? Because you are drawing, and not attempting to simply delete noise . . . you are deleting everything with the noise and doing a great job of drawing in what has been lost, simply put. (You are attempting to do what graphic artists/cinematographers etc, do for movies as in LOTR and Star Wars), just that you are doing it realistically based on a person, and not a imaginary city etc. - (extreme example, I know, yours is a bit more down to earth . . . trying to make her as realistic as possible . . . but they do the same thing for the created cities etc in movies > try to make them as realistic as possible
The colors are same as in the original scan. I did not do color correction nor contrast correction to it. Colors aren't corrected in your image either, so I don't see why that would be a problem.
Yes, colors are the same, but they have a different mask, as if they have been passed through color correction . . . ie, the dress . . . like you said, no shading, where the face and dress meet . . . it looks like the dress has been cut and pasted from another pic . . . that’s the effect the colors have on the picture as a whole . . . nothing against your abilities, though ;) . . . I might have been more clear . . .
Yes, I know you redrew them. About filters, if the detail is there in the original person’s hair , face, clothes etc, then all details are needed, not some to be deleted and some to keep: the only thing you want to lose is noise, not ANY detail specific the subject (but, maybe I misunderstand you and we talk about different things . . .) And art is one thing, but since you are mixing a real pic with your “art,” what you do with the pic is open to discussion (as now, and before, concerning detail loss, because when you create art, original detail isn’t in play as much as it is when you retouch a face, or piece of clothing, in an artistic style, and it makes a face (for example) miss out on the beauty it had originally . . . but to draw the hair, for example and face is a sign of artistic ability (which you have) and that can never be brought into question because then I would kick their ass :cheesy:
Understand your intentions and I covered the art aspect of your work. But, did you delete the hair then draw new one or did you smudge with a tool and then try to give hair some detail via fine lines etc . . . just curious because, either way, you know what you are doing and besides liking it, I find it interesting . . . (I just imagine art to be spontaneous and not simply trying to redraw what was already there, (to paint a scenery and to redraw hair and other detail -although very complex and difficult- is not the same thing, as far as art goes, because one involves artistic impressionism, while the other is more close to simple mimicry (as in redrawing the hair) . . . still art though, so . . .neutrality, neutrality
When you open image and start editing it it's editing. No matter what excatly you do to it.
But here, we were talking about specific editing . . . or . . . we both were
As said many times before. I was not cleaning the picture. I was not trying to save unnecessary details. I was not trying to restoring the old image.
And still, you haven't showed me where is those lost details you are talking about ? The skin has the texture, the face has the details. Where is the great loss you are talking about ? Ok, the dress ? Yeah, I lost few details in it. But was they needed ? Especially when they were more likely artifacts than real details. So where's the great loss ?
. . . I think we covered enough of this, but . . . yes, I understand that you were not cleaning the picture , just changing it from the original because it had lots of noise (???) . . . I am just trying to understand why not do the same type work on the HQ pic since it has no noise ( I could understand why, bnut since this stuff interewsts me, I want to understand your mindset)? I ask this to try to understand your intentions for using THIS pic, AND if you would want to do the same thing with the HQ pic you posted for me (sadly, I had that one already). Maybe if you answer this, then I can come to fully understand . . . not important though, just wondering. You see, if you say you chose this pic because it had noise, whereas the HQ pic didn’t, then filters and noise come in to play, as well as detail . . . what I have been mentioning
No, I did not want to lose the details from the hairs. I wanted to re-draw them all together. I deleted the old hairs and draw new ones. It was totally irrelevant if the old hairs had details or not. I wasn't interested of them.
Ok, but you were interested in only the hair, because you wanted to redraw it . . . oh . . . ok now I get it  (just kidding around)
That HQ picture isn't the same. It is taken from same performance at almost same time at almost same angle at almost same distance. But it's not the same. The angle is different, the face is different, the position of head is different, the expression is different... It's totally different image.
Yup, totally different image, BUT very close to your pic and adds nothing more than different facial expression, aside from the other slight body positions, and that it is also hq . . . not same pic . . . agree . . . (just thought I’d add that last part in so that we can agree on something . . .finally haha
Your image lost more detail than my original (except on hairs but that I have cover 10 times... ). I can do comparation image if you don't see it yourself. So you went way too far, too, especially as your purpose was to show what not to do and you fall in same hole yourself.
“Fall in same hole” myself to prove a point about filtration and noise reduction . . . and to call attention that there are more powerful filters capable of doing a better job ( I have one, but I can’t get it to open because I have a few corrupted System files). . . I also said I went too far with the filtration . .
Wow, very true, I can just imagine when you actually create an artistic impression of lili that does not come from a pic . . . you would probably be on cloud nine, and I understand that aspect completely.
With all do respect, RMJ . . . you are creating arguments now bro; you did not start with a blank canvass, you started with hair
Well, it looks like it does have things in common to the original hairs . . .
I did. :) As I deleted the old hair, it was blank canvas then.
It has few commong things because I draw it in same space as original. If I wanted to draw the hairs to fill different dimension, I would have needed to edit a lot more that imge. But it wasn't needed for this test (as said in first post, it was test picture. Someday you will see what for I did it. ).
And I stop the noise conversation now as I have said that the noise had nothing to do with my editing.
Understand your intentions and I covered the art aspect of your work. But, did you delete the hair then draw new one or did you smudge with a tool and then try to give hair some detail via fine lines etc . . . just curious because, either way, you know what you are doing and besides liking it, I find it interesting . . .
If you must know what I did with it then here it goes in few basic steps.
First I masked out original hairs. Then I filled the empty space with homogenous color. I added monochromatic gaussian noise to it to make it have some details. The I started to pushing pixels around. Pushing to makes the noise to form lines. To form strands of hairs. Beside pushing I also used normal paint brush to draw some strands (but even those I pushed/smudged afterward).
As simple as that.
. . . I think we covered enough of this, but . . . yes, I understand that you were not cleaning the picture , just changing it from the original because it had lots of noise (???) . . .
Ok.. I promised not to touch the noise question again, but I tell it once more time. :) No, I did not edit because of the noise. And the answer to next quote will give the real reason, so read that...
I am just trying to understand why not do the same type work on the HQ pic since it has no noise ( I could understand why, bnut since this stuff interewsts me, I want to understand your mindset)? I ask this to try to understand your intentions for using THIS pic, AND if you would want to do the same thing with the HQ pic you posted for me
And yes, it is not same picture as the HQ one I showed. There is no HQ picture of this picture. If there were, I could have used that. But there isn't. Or I don't have it. I don't have the magazine that has this picture so I couldn't scan it myself.
I choose this picture because I liked it. I liked her look on it. Her face, her pose, the angle of camera. It was moment of passion. I was browsing though my pictures and I saw this photo and I felt that it's excatly what I wanted to work on. It's irrelevant if there is almost same kind of photo. No other picture is same. This is unique. Every photo is unique.
To understand my reasons you need to understand that selecting image to me isn't easy job. I can put hours on it if I can't find the right one right away.
For example, when I work on ACC stuff, I don't just choose picture that is about what I want it to be. No... I go through all my ACC pictures and choose the one that is excatly what I want it to be (at that moment). The avatar that I currently have is result of watching ACC frame by frame and choosing the right frame. The one that I felt was right, at that very moment.
Ok, I actually captured also 562 other frames but I just archived them for future usage. It saves me some time when I need to go through only 563 frames instead of 5823 frames that the video has... But even those I didn't capture those 5260 frames, it doesn't mean I don't know what they have, I can use that smaller batch as index to look what I'm really after...
Yup, totally different image, BUT very close to your pic and adds nothing more than different facial expression, aside from the other slight body positions, and that it is also hq . . . not same pic . . . agree . . .
Adds 'nothing but facial expression' ?! That's one of the most important points to choose it! That is one of the main reasons what makes it stand out of the other photos!
Wow, very true, I can just imagine when you actually create an artistic impression of lili that does not come from a pic . . . you would probably be on cloud nine, and I understand that aspect completely.
Only if you knew...

I am secretly hoping for you to do something with ACC . . . Consider me your biggest fan for that . . .
Believe me... Many has wondered why I haven't released any ACC wallpapers or anything... The problem with ACC is that it means so much to me.
It's the perfect song, her voice fits it perfectly, it has the perfect video, performances, and she even looks perfect in it... It's simply perfect... And if I touch that, I might break it.
So, when ever I do anything related to it, it takes time... I have plenty of ACC projects (not just wallpapers, but something much bigger. Maybe too big me to handle...) going on, but they simply aren't ready. I have finished only small things like avatars and signatures. They can be done in reasonable time (hours, at most).
Hopefully I will get ACC wallpaper done soon... I'd love to have ACC wallpaper on my desktop. :)
btw, I have the vid of that ^ pic, but I am not sure if I have any vid caps, other than the one you just posted . . . it's a shame if there aren't any more HQ caps from that performance . . .
It's not video capture. It's real photograph. Taken from her Korean trip (these photos are from her live concert in Seoul, 24th of Sep, 2003). Taken by professional photographer and sold to news agency. There's full series of those photos but no fan has gotten the orignal photos (that are 1648x2464 resolution, non watermarked photos...).
Only series of these small watermarked ones are available from websites (like newscom.com ) without paying huge lincence payments. These are just thumbnails for those larger photos. :(

The best fakes in the world are non-nude ones (and I'm not talking about Alizée's pics but all pics in general).
And why do people make them ? Because it's way to show your skills. If you can create picture that cannot be tell if it's real or not you are pretty talented. It's kinda bragging with your photo editing skills.
Faking doesn't need to be related to sexuality. Of course there's plenty people who does fakes because of that, too. But the most skilled ones does it because it's great way to practice your skills.

Why excatly ?
The image is supposed to show how the silhuette looks when it's cut off of the magazine and put on the table. I think it represents it quite well.
Altho, in real world, it would have even more white stuff around her image... Unless you'd use some sharp knife to cut it. You'd know if you had the magazine...

This is one of the funniest moment of that interview... Even more clearly in this specific frame from the video:
http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/2118/jpvalfdlmframe42811ro.jpg
She's legs crossed, hands nervous on her tummy, 'biting lip' and looking somewhere far away (not concentrating on what host is saying) thinking something else...
It looks like she's thinking something along lines:
"Oh my god host! Stop talking already, I gotta go pee and fast!"

heh... Of course she is looking them.. But it's just how she looks in that very moment. The look is obviously total conincident but funny one. :)
Notice that also the photographer must have had something in his mind when taking this photo. Pro's don't just shoot random photos. If they sees priceless moment then they uses it. He may have took more of photos of that interview but why did he sell this particular photo to wireimage?

Hi all.
Not sure how many have seen these or have the older 'pre'- Moi'Lolita performances (actually school plays and auditions/recitals, etc). But I was in the mIRC #alizee-forum chat room the other day, exchanging videos, when someone hadnt heard of one of the older videos, so i took some screen captures to show them. They are 'poorly' done by your standards, but they are there.
Here now. The many faces of Alizee and her style:
http://home.neo.rr.com/jaspalidori/sample1.jpg
^-- Alizee as Dorothy in the play "Wizard of Oz"; english-speaking
http://home.neo.rr.com/jaspalidori/sample2.jpg
^-- Alizee in a white mini-dress ( vid- Summer Time ); English-speaking
http://home.neo.rr.com/jaspalidori/sample3.jpg
^-- Alizee as Tinkerbell ;) ( video - Papillon ); french
http://home.neo.rr.com/jaspalidori/sample4.jpg
^-- Alizee shows she is sultry-in-training ( video - Jimmy ); french/english speaking; some of this video is hard to hear and understand, but some of the lyrics, " Cant you hear what I say-ay ... i love you, baby-ay", she motions with her hand, " Baby, come on ". Yeh, she knows some English even back then.
( ps. Can you say 'corn rolls'?! Only Ali could make them look that good )
(( ps.s. Tho I prefer you without, Alizee. =) ))
http://home.neo.rr.com/jaspalidori/sample5.jpg
^-- Alizee w/ others, singing in English, " Stand by Me " ( spunky attitude outfit, notice the hat on backwards?)
OK. Yup, I know they are older pics, but I was trying to find some that i dont think many have seen...yet.
Enjoy.
( wonders the % of ppl that have seen these, and I sure there are tons of others, that if they have the vids, can make them BEAUCOUP better. )
