I think I can help even though I'm an American because I've been over there and I can point out social differences that stuck out to me.
In Deutschland you can drink legally at 16 or have half beer/half lemonade called Radler at 14! Also, Paul van Dyk is very popular from my recollection of being there. Another big difference that in Europe they have big grand churches and cathedrals but they are generally seen as relics, over here we don't have grand churches but more people go. People smoke in public all over the place, and no one seems to mind. People ride trains A LOT and just about every major or even minor city in Germany has a U-bahn (subway) or S-bahn (local surface train) to get people in and out because gas is 4-5 dollars a gallon! People in France don't clean up after their dogs. It is very rare to see people with more than 2 children. Most families are very small. Hope this helps!

Gosh lee we love our tea. Big music in England is POP. Britney Spears, Westlife, Girl Aloud, Robbie Williams ect..
We celebrate things like , Bonfire night ( guy folks ) when some guy tried to blow up parliment. So on the 5th on November we have Guy Folks night.. with fireworks and fire's everywhere.
Along with the average holidays..
The biggest sport in England is the Premiership ( Soccer )
Our country is great, but falling apart with over population. We can't keep taking people in our Country. Its small enough and it is killing us...
Our Country is too soft. However at the same time, im proud to be British.

seeing as David has done England, can I do Ireland??? (hope that's ok)
Ireland (also known as Republic of Ireland, Éire, Gaelic name is Éireann)
Family originated from Sligo (north-west coast!)
19 / Female
legal age for smoking: 16
legal age for drinking: 18
legal age for sex: 17
drinking: 4+ times a week (the irish are the biggest binge drinkers in Europe (http://www.irishhealth.com/index.html?level=4&id=6710 or http://www.irishhealth.com/index.html?level=4&id=5309)
smoking: never (i don't smoke) but Ireland is the 1st country to ban smoking in all public places :))
Languages spoken: mostly english, irish gaelic is spoken in connemara and county kerry (mostly), but u have to learn it at skool for junior cert and leaving cert (inc. lca and lcvp) :P leaving age for school is 16, people are encouraged to (and most of them do) stay on and do leaving cert, leaving cert applied (that's what i'm doing lmao but the english equilvalent) and leaving cert vocational program
We celebrate our patron saint, St. Patrick! :) on the 17th March! as well as the usual holidays....
fave TV shows: well, most irish peeps have all the british channels (bbc1, bbc2, itv, channel 4, five) via sky digital, the 4 irish channels are RTÉ1, RTÉ2, TV3 and TG4 (tg4 is gaelic), tv is basically the same in ireland as well as the uk... (especially with the soaps) so i'll say that they watch neighbours, home & away, coronation street, emmerdale and eastenders... people can only see hollyoaks if they have sky :)
About favourite events, there is:
02 Party in the Park (there wasn't one last year, i don't think)
Childline (on RTÉ 2 every year - westlife r always there)
Oxegen (the best festival - with the prodigy and ian brown as this years headline act!)

Brian McFadden
Ronan Keating
Girls Aloud
Fifth Avenue
Natasha Bedingfield
n loads more!
About sports:
Gaelic Football
Hurling

In Spain, the legal age for drinking depends on the Autonom Comunity. There are a few ones that haven't set any. It is 16 in a few ones, and 18 in the rest of them. I think the governments have never seen any problem with alcohol and young people drinking, until a couple of years or so ago, when there were a lot of protests from neighbours living near parks and places where young people went out to drink, cos those places were always full of empty bottles and this kind of garbage, and also cos of the noise they made. That's called "botellón", and some Autonom Comunities have banned those meetings, made only to drink and get yourself drunk, cos it's much cheaper than going to a disco or bar.
As for the smoking legal age, I'm not sure if there isn't any or if it is 16. In any case, people usually start smoking at age 13-14. And I don't think there is any legal age for having sex.
About celebrations, most of the them are related to saints and religious things, and I guess it's the legacy that the Church, always influential in Spanish History, has left. In the end, I think I've read that Spain is the country in the EU with more days of vacation.
The most followed sport is football, but people tend to like every sport if the national team is in the finals. For example, when a couple of months ago the Davis Cup in tennis was played in Sevilla. Nobody usually gives a damn about tennis, but it was the final against the US and it seemed like everybody had always liked it.
I read the other day on this forum about a guy who was from Australia or New Zealand, I don't remember, who was 15 and looking for a job. Well, that is unthinkable here. First, cos the legal age for working is 16, and you have to go to school until then. And second, cos a lot of people live with their parents until they are in their 20's. That's cos people usually just study till that age, and cos buying a flat or a house is really expensive.
Ah and tomorrow it's the Kings Day, cos we call Kings to the Three Wise Men, and they bring the presents to the Spanish children. We have imported the Santa Claus thing as well. So there are two days of presents.
And dunno, hope this helps, Lee!

norway, oslo (capitol of norway)
18/male
legal age for smoking: 18 to buy them. since i'm allergic to smoke among other things, i don't know how old you gotta be to smoke. i'd guess 18, but don't really know. smoking is banned everywhere, inside (maybe outside aswell), in public places.
legal age for drinking: 18 (beer and similar, 21 iirc for booze/similar) but there's no problem to get your hands on those kinda things at younger ages. 15+ and you can easily buy beer in the store, nobody cares.
legal age for sex: 16
religion: christians.. protestant (? atleast not catholic. they exist aswell ofc, among other religions.)
festivals: well, there's the quart festival. prolly the biggest thing in norway (music young people listen too). it's in the beginning of june in kristian sand (basically as far south as you can get in norway). some pop/rock thingy mostly.. then there's another rock festival, but smaller called norwegian wood in oslo.. and you prolly won't find any metal thingys and stuff like that there. dunno how big this one is, since i know one of the mainppl behind it.
drugs: none allowed, unless given to you by a doctor for some medical reason (if that happens). we still got addicts tho, and the police/similar don't lock them up. not enough space in the jails around here maybe.. =)
music: mostly crap from mtv. no one knows who ALizée is.
sports: soccer, no doubt. mostly norwegian (tippeligaen, the norwegian serie) and english + champions league, EC and similar. then we got a few pure sports channels (like euro sport) which might show some italien and spannish football aswell =) the norwegian national team sucks, didn't make it too the EC in portugal (?) in 2004.
you might find handball aswell. on those sports channels, you'll find lots of golf aswell..
language spoken: norwegian, we got two official dialects. "bokmål" which is spoken http://www.lstud.ii.uib.no/~s1026/norge.jpg on the way up to hamar, almost down to tønsberg, and in some circle around oslo with that radius =) in the other parts of the country, there's new norwegian which is not spoken, written only. it's a mix of all the other dialects spoken all over the country =)
military: mandatory, if they wan't you. if so, you can ofc just make up some bullshit about being suicidal, pacifist or depresive (?) or something like that, and there should be np getting away.
17th may: the day our constitution was made. national holiday, celebrated with all schoolppl (from 1st to 10th grade, not the last 3 years) going through the streets in oslo, up too the kings castle and then split up somewhere not far away frmo that.
clothes: basically everything, so hard to say =) ofc, in some places you'll find more of one style than others and so on, but that's how it is in every country i guess..
ask more if needed.
question too polish ppl: do most of the people between 15 and 25 wear those huge pants and sweaters, and basically kinda gangstah-like clothes, or is that just my impression from seeing pics of some polish people? =)
