View Full Version : Honesty: A Pretty Face & A Pretty Lie.

Have you ever encountered a girl who you thought was too beautiful? Then at one glance you decide that you're not interested because immedietly you're certain that there's something wrong with her. A girl who fits the standard of beauty way too much. Like saying "I'd rather date the cute girl next door type over the super-model gorgeous type of girl who's an egotistical uptight bitch". Is it in the subconcious mind that you tell yourself you don't seem to have a chance with a girl who has a face and body that could launch a thousand ships. Are the "girl next door" really that much nicer than the hollywoodish type of girls...

Hell yes. Without a doubt. I like simple girls, those who are true to themselves, low maintenance and don't care for all of that superficial crap. Of course, I'd have to find her attractive too. It's not just about the personality, and vice versa.
By the way, is the thread title a reference to a certain Billy Joel song? :D
"I can always find someone
To say they sympathize
If I wear my heart out on my sleeve
But I don't want some pretty face
To tell me pretty lies
All I want is someone to believe
Honesty is such a lonely word
Everyone is so untrue
Honesty is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you"
Great song.

Hell yea! It is a reference (love that song too). Before I got married to my bestfriend (btw she closely resembles Alizee and Jessica Alba but not a stuck-up byotch), I dated other girls who were your usual typical I-look-like-a-model-so-I-can-do-whatever-I-want kinda girls. One cheated on me & she'd pull a tearful plea to have me back to which I repeatedly fell for (I was a dummy then), with the aid of her pretty face that tells me pretty lies. It seems that I dated a deceptive and manipulative lethal eye-candy and thank god I realized it. I say good looks don't guarantee anything, and I prefer the "girl next door" types too.

For you, what category does Alizee belong to? Model type or Girl Next door?

19th November 2004, 03:53
Alizee fits right into both, that's what makes her so perfect. You'd be just as happy seen walking around with her as spending an evening alone with her.
Onto melo's question. Yeah, just started going out with incredibly beautiful girl at the beginning of the summer. 8 weeks into my trip to Europe she told me in an email she had a new boyfriend. I was so upset, guess she thought I left her. Very dissapointed and angry about it for a time, but now I'm onto better things. So yeah, I prefer the cute girl next door.

You lucky git!
As for me, I don't stand a chance with either the model or cute types, so I guess I'll have to settle for ugly but hopefully smart and nice.

I hope you don't think that's why I married her. No no. I'd be in trouble big time. But Alizee did have some role in my marriage. My bestfriend and I were purely platonic up to the point when Moi...Lolita video came out. That defenitely gave me something-something to think about with our situation  . Luckily she had latent desires for me too so big props to Lili for changing my life.

Nah. There never was an "ugly". it just depends how much the media has influenced your perception of beauty. Somehow I felt like hypocrite after saying that.

Nope, wasn't suggesting that... Just that you are still lucky!

Yes, but girls who fit that know they do - and thus wont be caught with me (and of course the perception works both ways... so really, does it matter who "influenced" it?).

(Sigh) Alas! The glamours that a flesh can generate can be very misleading indeed. The perception does work both ways but external beauty isn't what it's cut out to be (trust me!). I mean, I've learned the bitter truth. Have you ever heard that song "Loving you is easy coz you're beautiful"? oh that is so true but full of bullshit at the same time. The inner being usually settles in very quickly (depending on the circumstances). Looks are just a bonus...we all lose our charms in the end anyway (saggy breasts 4 the gals & flacid penises for the guys).
to challenge the natural is to conceive a mid-life crisis.

I agree, and am not one only concerned with physical appearance - but tell that to the girls. They're the ones making these distinctions.

The girls can be very horrible with their physical standards. But I've met some pretty girls (who I thought was out of my league) and found them to be very substancial. At first glance, you might pre-conceive an idea that they only want a guy that matches their criteria, but not so. It's all about compatibility! If you clique there, everything else is vanilla and cream!
Snatcher42
19th November 2004, 07:30
Well yes, of course. That goes without saying. But had one met such a (and eligible) girl already, they most likely wouldn't be single now would they? :D
(Not counting those who've met someone and have broken up with them for some other reason.)

there's a reason why guys who are jerks exist, and that is to let the nice guys finish last (they also start first btw) and get the girl for good.

Married? 17 years old? Hmmm? Blah anyways, I just wanted to point out, I never looked at many super models as beautiful sure they are good looking...but in most cases they are just too damn skinny...no? Well I don't care anyways. If the beautiful looking girl had substance then...of course one can get pulled to her. Ehhh...I was gonna say something extrenous but, figured nothing. So alas, there you go. And yes, Ternuc, very good point, Lili fits into that category...only...she is so ordinary...and yet so beautiful and extraordinary at the same time.

very true indeed.. i met this girl who was so good looking, she was amazing.. was with her for 2 years untill she moved to Spain to do some charity work their and her family moved to. No girl is out of anyones league imo.
But, maybe it can be the other way round.. IE, why would we wanna date a good looking yet unfaithful slut?

It appears that girls who are blessed with good looks abuse their gift quite often, and because for the plain reasons that more options are available to them ('coz they're hot), they're more prone to becoming unfaithful. They usually gravitate towards good looking jerks...and once they're emotionally burnt out...they decide to go back to you. So damaged goods if you ask me.

"Make an ugly girl your wife and you will be happy for the rest of your life."
I dated this very beautiful girl who was also very stupid. It didn't last long. My wife is pretty and smart. It can happen. My love for Alizée continues until she proves to be stupid. I don't think that will happen.

Noo.. I don't care. I like girls who have some resemblance to Alizée. Then , they go and dye their hair Blue:) All the girls I like have some kind of "general fault" that maybe everyone but me may hate, but I adore, and I can't explain this. Crooked teeth, for instance, Moi Lolita hair, they're mine! Lighter the skin, the better also. I like weird girls too. I love a girl who will smoke with me. I hate an uninformed girl, one that thinks a certain way because the TV tells them to think that way. Most girls I find attractive just happen to be into some kind of drug, too. I find that attractive, to an extent. Then again. There are probably less than 100 in the world who fit every criteria I have, but no matter. Just a waste of time. Alizée, I'm still here, don't worry.

A perfect girl for most of us would have half of the beauty, talent, and hard-to-define attraction that Alizée has.

It's nice to see what men really think... But do understand this all holds true with us women as well... and not all of us with looks and a modeling contract are like you all say. Being in the model feild now it's so hard to get a man cause they all think this way you all say... (and believe me when I say male models are worse then female ones. I dated a few and they were aweful.) but back to my point... we ar enot all this stereotype the world has pinned on us..some of us are... but not like they say

Male models are worse (Riccardo)? Oh oh. j/k. What is it really that gives a female model a hard time to date, the fact that many stereotye them as snobs or just simply the cynical vibe that guys are just after for their looks...
DavidAlizée
10th December 2004, 01:55
na, not snobs. I know a few models and dont have hardly any money at all, they are goodlooking, but not stuck up. Well, when i say goodlooking, they are infact very normal withought the makeup on.

10th December 2004, 02:31
lol... Unless in a shoot I am wearing only eyeshadow and clear gloss... I used to wear a lot of make up, but I started feeling fake... it's awful to make yourself up everyday and then go home at night and wash a ton of makeup off and become someone completly different... I think i kno wthe type of woman you all speak of... I met soem the other day... the kind that look at you when you eat in the dressing room... or they kind that ask what brand something is before the use it... that's an awful way to be.. but it doesn't just occur in models... I know a lot of normal woman like that who are worse. And it's not a girls look sthat make up her personality... the real root of the problem is her up bringing...
