I updated the post to include the dates I will be there. I still don't know where I'll be staying; depends on which of my friends has some floor space (or a couch, hopefully :P) where I can crash for the night. I do plan on staying 1 or 2 nights in a hostel or cheap hotel.
We're still in the planning stages, but we do hope to have everyone meet up on Dec. 31st to celebrate New Year's Eve somewhere in Paris. Ideally we'd like to meet up in a good bar and drink some beverages (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and hopefully be able to play some Alizée music. After the 1st we can also stop by the Fnac and other stores and also do general tourist stuff in Paris.

Hey... given that alot of you guys already know each other in person and I'm still kinda new, I was wondering if I'm even welcome to this thing? If so, put me down as a maybe - I'm not really sure of my schedule around that time yet.

That's no problem, Max_07s!
It is possible that I can go to this fan meeting. I have to think about it though. If I were to go, I'd want to stay for as long as possible. If I can only be in Paris for a couple of days, then it would be hard to justify the cost.

4th November 2004, 12:17
I wish I could say I've got space for pals to crash, but I tried to let a buddy (an Alizée fan) crash last monday, and my host lady flipped out on me. Anyway, I look forward to seeing you guys again.

Je vais peut-etre demander aux membres de l'Alliance si certains Français seront déjà à Paris, qui nous pourrions retrouver s'ils le veulent.

Daniel (of the German Alizée Fanclub and Museum) was mentioning something in mIRC about a New Years Party at his place, to unveil some of the museum renovations (including a DTS theater system).
Is anyone here planning to go to that, or is Paris definitely the way to go?
Also, I see Mark and Petsku will be in France from Dec 30th to Jan 5th... anyone else know their dates yet?
Just asking before I start looking at plane tickets and hotel reservations for myself!

I'm going to Paris regardless of parties elsewhere. I'm not going just to meet up with Alizée fans; I'm going to visit other friends in France as well. And just to be in France again justifies the cost for me. 8) Of course, it will still be cool to meet other Alizée fans in Paris again.
I'm going to get reservations for 4-5 nights in Paris, and I'm staying 1-2 nights in Orléans, depending on how long my friends there can put up with me.

ha i love how you say that..."put up with you" 1-2 days is stretching it then a little ain't it?
Well as soon as i get my next bit of money i'll book this trip now so i can give definite dates, as it gets closer it gets more exciting

It looks like I could potentially go to Paris for 8 days. That's not too bad, but I'm wondering whether it will be worth it. Taking into account all my expenses, I'd be spending around $1000. Considering that I've already been to Paris and France, it's hard to justify. But if people like Riccardo and morpheus go, then perhaps it's one more reason to go.

Just a few precisions on what I plan to be doing and a few suggestions for an itinerary:
I'll be flying out of Dulles and arriving at Charles de Gaulle on Dec 30 at 7:10 a.m. Then I'll head to Paris and meet up with whoever has already arrived. That day and Dec 31 we can check out shops, tourist sites, etc. For that evening, nothing concrete is planned yet; I'm waiting to talk to Ron about that.
Then Saturday and Sunday (Jan 1-2) will be holidays, so I imagine not much will be open then, except for tourist sites. Hopefully the weather will be good and maybe we can spend some time just walking around the city.
Then, depending on what my friends in Orléans are doing, I'll take the train to Orléans and spend Jan 3rd with them and then come back to Paris sometime on the 4th. Anyone who wants to come visit Orléans with me is welcome to do so (be warned, there's not much to see :P). Then on the 5th my flight leaves at 12:15. :(
I would have wanted to spend more time in France, a week or more like krazykanadian might be doing, but my university thought it would be great if they could make the students come back from Christmas break a week earlier than usual, so with school starting again on the 10th, I have to be back a few days earlier to get things arranged with teaching and everything. As for my expenses, I'm figuring around $800, including flights, lodging, food, souvenirs, and other miscellaneous things.
For others who are going, let us know what your suggestions are too.

umm yeah..im buying my plane tickets tomorrow
...(if im not überly tired after the work :P )
for these flights:
dep : 30 Dec 09:30 Helsinki [HEL]
non stop / 03h 05m
arr : 30 Dec 11:35 Paris [CDG]
dep : 5 Jan 15:25 Paris [CDG]
non stop / 03h 00m
arr : 5 Jan 19:25 Helsinki [HEL]
(man that's cheap 250€ 8) )
i don't know about the hotel expenses or any other expenses yet
....but i'm sure 750€ is enough... (+ Sean, remember the 70€ :P)
as for the suggestions what places/sights to visit... i have to think more
but besides the usual sights i was interested to visit La Locomotive...
the night club, heh... in 6 days we surely have time to do lots of things.
ill come back to this soon

well, my is quite good(i think so), but actually i'd have to speak English first time with people whose it is their native language for , so i`m worried a little about it.

i`ll look for too, but only look. i`ll probably know if i`ll go at the end of December(unfortunately)
I don`t know how much would it cost.I hope the hotel and flights( i'd stay for 5-6 days max. , i think so) won`t cost more than 1000-1300 ZŁ!(ABOUT 250-300 EURO)is it possible ? Does anyone know how much cost a night in a cheap hotel or hostel in Paris or websites with those informations ?

Well, kris if you are still under the guardian of your parents, then it's best to listen to them. They care about you and your safety. There's always a later time.
About the timing of when to go, I can't say because I have only been there during winter. So I wouldn't know.

Later? When? When I'll be 25-27? Not till then will I be able to earn money(probably, if i had a job)and go.If i don`t go in winter this year or in summer next year( what my mother and my English teacher advise me)there won`t be another chance to go to Paris, not till will I earn money.Otherwise it won`t be the same going there being 18 and ex.26.

I just found out about this Paris meeting last week, and ( last I checked ) I need two months advanced notice to get a good price on tickets ( $846, last I checked, with that much notice, less notice = higher price ), then I have to deal with the fact I work full-time and only have 2 days vacation ( started job in July of this year ), and finally, getting enough money together for the trip/hotel/parties is another obstacle. In short, I need a miracle to make this trip.
Just in case I find a couple of grand (usd) laying around the house, my boss give s me free vacation days, and the airlines/hotel reservations go well, what are dates/locations we should all meet? Is there going to be some type of web page dedicated to the trip to help people coordinate activities ( i.e. someone want to know where everyone else is at, how to contact them, etc. )?
Oh and any advice on Travel agency / Airline/Hotel for the trip would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Backinblack

I think we're going to plan to meet up on December 30th. Most people will be staying until Jan 5th. As time gets closer and we get everyone's flight arrivals, we'll find a time and place to meet. I figured we'd just use this thread to coordinate everyone's arrivals and lodgings, unless someone wants to set up something different. If you're serious about going, you need to look into hotels as soon as possible, because they're filling up fast. Of course hostels are the cheapest way to go, if you want to do that. If you're a student, sometimes you can get fairly cheap tickets on studentuniverse.com.
I've found lodging for 3 nights so far: the 30th and 31st at the Eden hotel in the 20th arrondissement, and then on the 4th I'll be staying at the Woodstock hostel. On the 3rd I'll be staying with a friend in Orléans.

3 hours there is all you need. My brother and I went through almost every room and saw the Mona Lisa. It really is ridiculously huge and I wish the French wouldn't hog all the things they ransacked from other countries along the way. All-in-all very interesting. Be sure to see the things on the guide. I'd only heard of two things that I saw there before I went.

Oh, I know - I've been there before. But three hours? Na, not enough: I spent a whole day there, and did see alot (though not everything)... but it was my fav part of that trip to Paris, so I want to go and do it again! :cheesy:
Incidentally, I know I've said this before - but that trip was also when I first saw Alizée (Moi... Lolita music video on TV in the hotel room). Ah, memories...

Cool, I was looking at that hotel too when choosing mine. Looks nice, and big - another Holiday Inn... its site says that the nearest metro stop is the rail-intersection Guard du nord, 2 km away - but I think there must be some closer, as on a map it looks like it's right on 5 lines (also mentioned in its description). Good price too, as my room came out to 125eur a night, but that's just for one person...
So next we should start planning what we want to do and when... :)

It seems i won't go. My parents don't want to agree. They say it's dangerous to travel alone, be alone in Paris. I told how i'd provide against being attacked, losing money, passport etc., but they say no! They don`t want to hear about it.They say , they'd let me go only in summer. Why not in winter, they don`t want to explain.

I had exactly the same problem with going to her January concert. Well... actually it wasn't a problem, cause I didn't care what my parents were saying. 8)

Yes, for anyone who is unable to make it over New Year's, start looking at plans for a trip during the summer. That should give us plenty of time to get a big meeting organized (including the Alliance forum too). Who knows, maybe Alizée will be promoting again by then.
Snatcher42
9th December 2004, 23:21
^ Yes, though another thing to consider is that, for those who care (such as moi), Mylène Farmer will be having some concerts at Bercy one year from now (January 2006)...
Backinblack
10th December 2004, 00:32
Yes, I bet there will be a huge reunion of Mylène fans (many of whom are obviously Alizée fans as well) when her concerts roll around. Fortunately for me, I'll be hitching a ride to Europe with my aunt and my grandma around that time. 8)

@Kris
When I was trying to get back to Paris Nord my Eurail pass was rejected for the RER underground subway to there so I was forced to walk about 2 miles through the worst part of Paris (hookers, strip clubs, no street lights) and it wasn't so bad. But, it's not for everyone.
Summer of next year is probably too soon to get money together. Anyone wanna talk summer of 2006? That's world cup time in Deutschland, I could totally go for some border-hopping though.

I had asked about summer meeting before. How big chances are there for it ?The main reason for i want to go is to buy her singles (the most ACC), and i'm afraid that the later i go the less chances i'd have to get it.
Moco
10th December 2004, 22:53
Well, you're right about one thing. The longer you wait to buy the singles, the more difficult it will be to find them. Last I checked, the ACC single and Maxi-single are still available on places like FNAC.com, Amazon.fr, and Amazon.com. So if you can only make it to France in the summer, I suggest you buy it online while it's still available. Because trust me, I'm still looking for the singles from the Gourmandises era and they're not easy to find. I'm also kicking myself right now because FNAC recently had several of them available for a few days but quickly became unavailable the moment I wanted to buy them. :?

11th December 2004, 09:20
Well, I probably won't be able to make it to this fan meeting. I just don't have time to prepare for such a trip, and it's really hard for me to justify the cost for such a short trip. I've already been to Paris and done all the touristy things before, so essentially I'd be going just to meet people from this forum at a time of year when it is going to be really cold. Besides, if I were to go, it would be from Dec. 26th to Jan. 2nd, meaning that I wouldn't be able to hang out with you guys for too long before I'd had to leave. If there were a concert like that of Jan. 17th, 2004, then that would be a bigger reason to go. With that said, it would be a real privilege to meet some of you, so hopefully I'll get another chance in the near future when it makes more sense.
For those lucky enough to go, you can check out the ice rink on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower!

Please, tell me if ACC single is available now in Fnac or such shops. I'll probably try to go there as soon as possible.I wonder if I can get anywhere Moi Lolita single, but French version.I haven't got a credit card, but my father has a card which he use to pay in shops, but I don't know if I could pay by it(could I ?). But if yes maybe, maybe maybe he would mercy and lend me it, if he didn't agree for going to Paris. If I bought online,I would only on website which is translated into English.

Update from Paris:
Yesterday we walked around, and walked around, and did some more walking around. Ron forced us to drink copious amounts of alcohol. :D We celebrated the new year at the base of the Eiffel Tower, but some of us were unfortunate enough to be exposed to the effects of tear gas. After a night of very little sleep, we're hanging out at the hotel. Pictures of the mayhem will follow shortly. :cheesy:

We celebrated the new year at the base of the Eiffel Tower, but some of us were unfortunate enough to be exposed to the effects of tear gas.
Tear gas!? You're going to have to explain that!

Woohoo, I am back. Trip to California was awesome. I got to see the girl for me whom I have always loved and will probably someday marry. It was awesome to see her at least once a year. I also got to see my cousin who is my favorite relative and one of my best friends. She and I are like brother and sister, or at least ones who get along :P.
Anyway, hope all of you are having a wonderful time! Paris is such a beautiful city and it's nice to go somewhere and be able to see people who you know but have never met. Put up the pictures!!

I am so envious! I wish I was there in Paris with the guys. I will have to wait for next time or for her next album and maybe go to a concert together. I want to be with people who I can talk about Alizée with, and who would understand!
PEACE!

Agreed, many people I know can't understand this addiction of mine. They agree she is beautiful but somehow steer clear of her intoxicating personality. It strikes me as odd.

2nd January 2005, 05:32
Don't use the word "addiction" when around your friends! They would not understand. They hear addiction and they think something that is not deep for you! Like me, I am sure there are many people who will say that they are not addicted to her - it goes far deeper than addiction!!! :(
tern
2nd January 2005, 05:36
I only say addiction because she is inside of me and I cannot stop myself from thoughts about her. It is much more than that because I enjoy it being that way. I only say she is my bad habit and such as a joke because to others it may appear that way. You guys are the only ones who can understand.
Sorry, I am off-topic. And so I say this: I wonder what those fans in Paris are doing right.....NOW.

@ David:
OMG!!! mutual agreement. Sometimes these damn forums make people out to be something they are not. I guess it is because there is no sense of what type of emotion the other person has when posting something that appears offensive in some way. I bet that face to face, there would be more understanding when someone speaks.
If we ever meet at a Paris fan meeting someday, I will have to buy you a beer (if you drink)
Sean was right: kindness is better than confrontation! For laughs, maybe we should beat up Sean when we see him in Paris! Test his mentality, haha

Thing is, a summer fan meeting would be so much better for me. As long as I'm shelling out $600+ for a plane ticket and eurail pass I might as well spend a month or two over there. Then I can return to my deutschland.
And yes, it is hard to see peoples' emotional state when they post. That's why when I mock somebody I always put one of these guys ":P" at the end. AKA haha, I really think that but get over it.

Update number 2...
Just got back to our hotel, yep, 7:25am. After hangin out at the bar for a while, Mark and Petteri are here and Ron and Ricc are still in town drinking the hours away till Ricc heads back to Germany. You have to believe us when we tell you, Ricc has not slept since he arrived in Paris 3 days ago. :P We haven't seen him sober since we've been here, and we have pics and vids to prove it!
And such a small world it is...At the Longhop Bar in Paris, we met a fellow forum-member, Antonio from the Spanish forum. (pics to follow)
And about the Tear gas, we all got totally totalled by it. We really were in the wrong place at the wrong time. And directly from Mark: "Tear gas burns like Hell!"

Well guys, this is it... we all head home today. It's 4am now, and I obviously can't sleep... I'm so sad about having to leave Paris and all the great friends I made here. We really had a wonderful time. I took lots of pictures (77 at last count), and those will be online very soon. Petteri took even more (somewhere in the vicinity of 400!), and those should be up too at some point. I'm also working on finishing a personal log of the trip along with my own reflections. But I'm just posting now to thank everyone involved for making this an experience I'm sure none of us will forget. In particular:
Azrul for going out of his way to meet us despite his busy schedule.
Riccardo for being "the man" - such a cool dude and true party animal!
Ron for showing us his favorite bars and for being our fantastic host.
Petteri for being a fellow metalhead, functioning under extreme intoxication, taking all those pictures, and walking closer to my slow pace.
Sean for being the first person I met in Paris, and the one I spoke with most - both during the trip, and before it for planning.
Mark for being the oldest and wisest among us, speaking French when no one else could, and guiding us through the streets and metro lines of Paris and Orleans.
I'll miss all of you, and I hope we can meet again in the not too distant future.... As for Paris, man have I fallen in love with this City. I will one day return, of this I'm sure.
To Alizée, the reason for everything, who brought us to this place.

If you just read snatchers post, do not read mine yet. I did not go to paris, and as such, my post is not nearly as beautiful as his. Remember his last line about Alizee. Now close your eyes, take a breath, and have a few moments for her. Let the wonderous enjoyment of both Alizee and the beautiful city of Paris sink in.
If your ready, read my dumb post now. If not, save it for tomarrow :D
If we do this again, we better pick a better date. Like start on the 27th of December, some of us have to get back fast after new years! And I know I'm not the only one to say this. 8)

Anyway, I think you are beautifull and I will only make love with the opposite sex. Now if you still want to question me and waste some more time, then that's your loss. Got back home today, a few random musings:
First off an apology to Sean, Petteri, and Ben for the taxi ordeal in Orléans. Although without that, we wouldn't have had "Unbelievable!" :D
Second, thanks to Ron for taking us around and showing us the nightlife in Paris. I was a little burned out in the end but it was worth it. And when I mean "burned out," I'm not just talking about the burning sensation I felt in my eyes as we were leaving the Eiffel Tower. :cheesy:
I realized I walk a little too fast for Ben and Petteri.
Riccardo's antics in the bar and restaurant on the second night were priceless.
If only I hadn't been tired the whole time (average of 4 hours of sleep per night). But I guess that was expected.
More priceless quotes:
After stumbling back to my hotel at 6:30 a.m. on New Year's day, I get a call from Riccardo at 11:00: "Hello, I'm somewhere near the Hotel de Ville and I haven't slept all night. Can you come find me?" Then a few minutes later, a call from Ron: "Hi, I'm somewhere outside of Paris and I'm nowhere near the metro and my battery is almost dead."
And now, a very random collection of stuff I bought from Fnac:
http://img47.exs.cx/img47/9740/img05407vk.th.jpg (http://img47.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img47&image=img05407vk.jpg)
A big Mylène book, her Bercy and Mylenium Tour DVDs, a couple books on French grammar, and a few children's books in French for my niece. That drew a few strange looks from the clerk and the people in the checkout line at Fnac. :D
Thanks to everyone, Sean, Ben, Petteri, Ron, Riccardo, Morpheus, Tapetor. Also thanks to Antoni for recognizing Riccardo in his drunken state. :D Max, maybe I'll be able to meet you at a future fan meeting. Let's hope next time we have a concert or a TV performance we can meet up for.
Finally, thanks to the German TV channel which introduced me to the show "Brainiacs" and also, of course, to Sweety das Kuken. :P
