I got this plot emailed to me but I don't know how true it is.

THE TEASER HAS NOW BEEN RELEASED!!!

edit--to avoid revealing possible spoilers, if anyone wants to read this in a larger font, just cut and paste it into Notepad or Word.

According to the opening-text crawl that begins Episode 3, the Clone Wars continue to rage between the Old Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems (The Separatists). The opening-text crawl also reveals that the enemy Separatists have taken Supreme Chancellor Palpatine hostage. Next, we see an epic space battle (the largest space battle ever seen in a Star Wars film) taking place over Coruscant between the Republic military forces and the Separatist’s military forces. General Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and other Jedi Knights enter the battle with clone troopers in star ships.

Obi-Wan is now a Jedi Master and Anakin is a full-fledged Jedi Knight. During the battle, the Jedi use a new version of the Jedi star fighters, which have been augmented for battle. Obi-Wan and Anakin make it their primary objective to free Palpatine from the Separatists. Palpatine is being held prisoner in the flag ship of the Separatist armada. This just happens to be the biggest and most heavily fortified star ship in the Separatist’s fleet.

After much excitement, Obi-Wan and Anakin pilot their ships inside the Separatist ship holding Palpatine. Soon after landing, General Grievous (the half-man and half-machine leader of the droid armies) comes after Obi-Wan and Anakin. The two Jedi manage to flee from Grievous and his battalion by using giant tubes. Obi-Wan and Anakin then proceed to an elevator and eventually run into Count Dooku. A tremendous light-saber duel erupts between Obi-Wan and Anakin vs. Dooku. Grievous enters the fight and manages to hurt Obi-Wan.

However, realizing that he might be captured or killed, Grievous leaves the Separatist flag ship as the ship gets pounded by laser fire from the Republic star ships. Next, Anakin duels with Dooku alone as Obi-Wan is sidelined with his injury. Palpatine watches this duel while being imprisoned in a chair. Palpatine also speaks during this dramatic duel. Anakin manages to slice off one or both of Dooku's arms. Anakin then pauses to give Dooku a chance to beg for his life.

Next, Anakin uses two light sabers to cut off Dooku's head. Palpatine lets out an evil cackling laugh after watching Anakin destroy Dooku. To avoid destruction, Anakin races to the control area of the Separatists star ship so that he can safely land the heavily damaged ship. Anakin successfully lands the ship on the surface of Coruscant and emergency vessels arrive to quench the fire that is overtaking the ship.

Mas Amedda and Palpatine’s royal guards arrive and take Palpatine to the Galactic Senate. As Palpatine disembarks the ship that carried him to the Senate, Palpatine is greeted by a group of Senators and Jedi Knights. Palpatine enters the Senate and Padme Amidala is waiting for Palpatine. Padme is wearing clothes that hide her pregnancy. Her marriage to Anakin remains a complete secret. Before the Senate, Palpatine announces that the Separatist leader (Count Dooku) is now dead and that the Separatists are in disarray. Palpatine advises that the Republic must strike against the Separatists while the Separatists are in chaos.

For Obi-Wan’s next mission, the Jedi Council orders Obi-Wan to hunt down General Grievous. Anakin is upset that the Jedi Council does not adequately acknowledge the fact that Anakin destroyed Dooku all be himself. With great cleverness, Palpatine feels Anakin’s great anger and uses this to Palaptine’s benefit. Palpatine asks the Jedi Council to allow Anakin to be his bodyguard. Anakin is eager to serve Palpatine because Palpatine has long been a great supporter of Anakin’s career.

Meanwhile, Bail Organa is seen at a meeting in Padme’s residence. The focus of this meeting is to have Palpatine relinquish his emergency powers. Powers which Palpatine promised to relinquish at the end of the Clone Wars. In other parts of the galaxy, the Jedi and clone trooper forces continue to battle the Separatist military in various star systems. On Kashyyyk (the Wookiee home world), Yoda oversees clone troopers during an important battle. Meanwhile, back on Coruscant, Mace Windu manages to piece together the Sith conspiracy and comes to the conclusion that Palpatine is evil.

Windu arrives at Palpatine’s office to air his suspicions directly to Palpatine. Anakin is present with Palpatine as Windu asserts his belief that Palpatine is up to no good. With massive hate, Palpatine unleashes a strong current of dark side lightning at Windu. With great skill, Windu deflects this lightning with his light saber. Here and now, Anakin is left with the most important decision of his life. Will Anakin save Windu from Palpatine or will Anakin strike down Windu and save Palpatine?

Palpatine claims that the Jedi are corrupt and deceitful. Furthermore, Palpatine states that the Jedi themselves have always sought to undermine Anakin’s destiny. The choice is clear for Anakin. Anakin and Mace Windu engage in a very dramatic duel. Palpatine helps Anakin during the duel. Anakin finally slays Windu.

Next, Palpatine finally reveals to Anakin that Palpatine is indeed a Sith Lord. Palpatine cleverly convinces Anakin that the powers of the dark side will bring Anakin’s great promise to fruition. On a new planet never before seen in a Star Wars movie, Obi-Wan (with his contingent of clone troopers) finds General Grievous. A spectacular battle erupts between Obi-Wan and his forces vs. Grievous and Grievous’ battle droids. The battle is waged on a high cliff top with a breathtaking view around them. What follows next is a chase sequence, whereby Obi-Wan (riding a computer-animated lizard-like creature) chases after Grievous, who is riding a device that looks similar to a Hailfire droid.

The chase comes to an end and Obi-Wan and Grievous launch into a light-saber battle. During this battle, Grievous’ arms split in two and Grievous is suddenly wielding four light sabers against Obi-Wan. Eventually, Obi-Wan finishes Grievous off with blaster fire from a gun. While dying, Grievous' eyes are ejected from their sockets. Back on Coruscant, there are demands that Palpatine must surrender his emergency powers since the Clone Wars appear to be at an end. Palpatine states that he will not give up his emergency powers. Palpatine now claims that he must keep his emergency powers to battle the threat posed by the Jedi Knights.

Palpatine claims that the Jedi are traitors to the Republic and that the Jedi were actually conspiring with Count Dooku to defeat the Grand Old Republic. Palpatine insists that the Jedi are to blame for the millions of deaths and the destruction of many star systems during the Clone Wars. Also, Palpatine relates the story of how a Jedi Master tried to assassinate him. Luckily, Anakin was there to save Palpatine from this would-be Jedi assassin. Palpatine retains his tyrannical powers and announces the creation of his Empire.

Next, Palpatine orders the Republic military to find the Jedi and destroy them all. Those opposed to Palpatine (Padme, Bail Organa and Mon Mothma of Chandrila) hold a meeting to discuss what has just transpired regarding Palpatine’s extreme power grab. They decide to take no action at the moment and to see how things will develop. An assassination attempt is made on Bail Organa’s life. Bail makes his way to a landing platform where his red speeder is waiting for him. To avoid laser fire, Bail hides behind his speeder. Bail successfully escapes from Coruscant.

After this attack, Padme leaves Coruscant for Naboo for her own safety. Now the clone troopers receive their orders to hunt down the Jedi. Obi-Wan has to kill a clone trooper, who had become Obi-Wan’s friend during the Clone Wars. The decimation of the Jedi by the clone troopers is seen occurring in several star systems across the galaxy. The Jedi are vastly outnumbered by the clone troopers and have no chance to save their lives. With many clone troopers at Anakin's side, Anakin attacks the Jedi Temple and kills all the Jedi younglings and any Jedi who tries to protect the younglings. Palpatine dispatches Anakin to the planet called Mustafar (which is a lava planet) to destroy the remaining Separatist leaders. Then, Anakin heads to Naboo to speak with Padme.

Anakin tells Padme that he is headed to Mustafar to destroy the Separatist leaders. Also, Anakin tells Padme that the Republic is coming to an end, that Palpatine will turn the Republic into an Empire and that Anakin has already killed some Jedi Knights. Moreover, Anakin claims that the Jedi are traitors and very corrupt. The Jedi can no longer be trusted. Padme believes everything that Anakin tells her and she supports Anakin 100 percent. Anakin continues to dearly loves Padme and still believes he can trust her and only her.

Meanwhile, Yoda happens to be on Kashyyyk when the clone troopers turn on him. Chewbacca and other Wookiees save Yoda from the clone trooper betrayal. While on Kashyyyk, Yoda finds an ancient Sith manuscript. Yoda believes he must go to the Jedi Temple and meditates on future events. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan hides on a new world. The leader of this world graciously welcomes Obi-Wan and promises to help Obi-Wan’s plight. On this world, Obi-Wan finds out about Anakin turning against the Jedi. Obi-Wan decides to head for Naboo.

On Naboo, Obi-Wan finds Padme at her villa. At first, Padme does not trust Obi-Wan and refuses to tell Obi-Wan anything. However, eventually, Padme tells Obi-Wan that she is pregnant with Anakin’s child. Padme tells Obi-Wan of Anakin's future plans and that there still remains some good in Anakin. Obi-Wan plans to leave Naboo without Padme, but Padme is able to hide on Obi-Wan's star ship without Obi-Wan realizing this. Obi-Wan tracks Anakin's star ship to Mustafar.

During his meditations, Yoda comes to the conclusion that if he can destroy the Sith Master, then the Sith Apprentice will automatically be destroyed. Sidious confronts Yoda at the Jedi Temple. Yoda engages in a terribly violent fight with Sidious. Yoda ends up losing this battle. Next, Obi-Wan arrives on Mustafar, but Anakin has already eliminated all the Separatist leaders. Obi-Wan and Anakin begin to argue. Suddenly, Padme appears believing she can help them both. Anakin is upset with Padme because she led Obi-Wan right to him. Anakin feels betrayed. As a result, Anakin becomes very angry, loses self control and ends up putting the Force choke on Padme. Padme hits her head when she falls to the ground. Obi-Wan ignites his light saber. The legendary duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin has begun and it begins amongst the dead bodies of the Separatist leaders.

This duel is very epic in nature. It takes place in several locations. Volcanoes erupt and the ground shakes. One location is a mechanical room. In another location, they hang from cables and finally end up at a volcano crater. Obi-Wan manages to cut off Anakin's other real arm. Amazingly, Anakin continues to duel Obi-Wan using his mechanical arm. Later on during the duel, Obi-Wan cuts off one of Anakin’s legs (perhaps even both of Anakin's legs are severed). Anakin slips on the slope of the volcano and plummets into molten lava. Next, Obi-Wan leaves the area and takes care of Padme, who was badly hurt by Anakin’s Force choke. Clone troopers arrive and rescue Anakin. These clone troopers then board a star ship with Anakin and take off.

After the Obi-Wan vs. Anakin conflict, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Bail Organa and Padme are traveling on the Tantive 4: Blockade Runner for Alderaan. However, an emergency stop on a new world has to be made when Padme becomes gravely ill. The Skywalker twins are removed from Padme. Subsequently, Padme does die after giving birth to the Skywalker twins. Elsewhere, Anakin heals inside mechanical armor. Anakin regains consciousness, awakens in his black Darth Vader armor and is told that he is responsible for Padme’s death. Anakin is so distraught that he destroys the room he is in with the Force. Anakin is also upset at finding out that he has become more machine than man as a result of his duel with Obi-Wan. In his anger, Anakin Force chokes many people and uses the Force to throw droids around the room. Next, Palpatine gives Anakin the moniker of Lord Darth Vader.

A funeral is held in Padme’s honor. Some of her handmaidens and Sio Bibble attend the ceremony. From the afterlife, Qui-Gon Jinn communicates with Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan (with Bail Organa and Yoda’s input) decides to hide the Skywalker twins on Tatooine with Owen and Beru Lars. It is Bail Organa in his Tantive 4: Blockade Runner that carry Obi-Wan and the Skywalker twins toward Tatooine. Yoda arrives on Dagobah via an escape pod from the Tantive 4 as the remaining Jedi Knights scatter all across the galaxy trying to escape the Imperial onslaught. Yoda plans to wait patiently until it is time for Yoda to do his part in bringing down the Sith. However, Bail’s star ship comes under fire from Palpatine’s forces. Bail’s ship is boarded by Palpatine’s minions. Obi-Wan and young Luke escape aboard an escape pod headed towards Tatooine. Bail Organa claims young Leia to be his own child. Also, Bail Organa makes certain that C-3PO's memory will be erased. On the bridge of a star destroye! r Palpatine, Vader and Tarkin are seen standing and looking out into space. They are watching the death star being constructed.

After arriving on Tatooine, Obi-Wan requests that Owen and Beru Lars take care of young Luke. Obi-Wan tells Owen and Beru that Anakin died fighting in the Clone Wars. Understandably, Owen blames the Jedi for Anakin’s fate stating that the Jedi never should have taken Anakin from Tatooine in the first place. Owen and Beru decide to raise young Luke as their own child and seek to never see Obi-Wan again. Obi-Wan now goes by the name Ben and stays close by to watch Luke grow up. Fade to black. Roll end credits.

Oh god, spoilers. I don't want to read that, whether it's true or not. I'm trying to stay as spoiler-free as possible until I see the movie.

Oh I'm sorry... Is there a way I can change the title to say Possible Spoilers.

You can always go back and edit your post and change the title, by clicking on the Edit button. I added the "Spoilers" part to the title and changed the font for people who don't want to read it.

Just to clarify this whole thing a bit - lets say i want to discuss something, concerning the starwars plot, then i will have to write in a small font aswell?

Im not really a fan of starwars, but im guessing that the III cant be worse than the I & II. Why? - Coz the first two episodes already hit the bottom.

Moco
17th October 2004, 01:55
Well, if you want to discuss plot points that are obviously spoilers, then yeah, you should use a small font. In addition, you could make your text all white like this: SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!! Then if anyone wants to read it, they can simply highlight it and the text will be visible.

On the other hand, if you want to discuss something about the movie that people should know based on the other 5 films, then it wouldn't be considered a spoiler. For example, anyone familiar with Star Wars should know that Anakin turns into Darth Vader in Episode 3.

And I agree that Episode 3, just by default, has to be better than the first 2 episodes. The things that need to happen in Ep 3 are such awesome moments in the Star Wars story that we've only heard about. Now we'll finally get to see them happen, like the battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan.

I've read that before.

I'm pretty sure that George Lucas is one of the most anal Directors in the world when it comes to allowing leaks from his set's. He has fired actors for saying to much about his movies on TV.

Having said that, any real hardcore Star Wars fan could have come up with what that article says, it's just logical supposition.

Good stuff, man. I'd always heard of the Anakin/Obi-Wan duel taking place near pits of molten lava, and it's cool to finally be able to see that. The space battle over Coruscant looks great too. I wonder... is that the birth of the Rebellion?

I don't follow spoilers on any movies because I don't think it's fun, but I figured this isn't much, but fun. The official site released the opening crawl of Star Wars Episode III. It can be read on this page, as long as the crawls of all the other movies side by side.

thoughts? compared to the other ones, the use of wording here seems more flashy and ambitious this time around...hmmm....

Misfit
27th January 2005, 06:47
It's very different from the others. I like the "War!" at the beginning... A bit cheesy but I like it.

I've seen a few spoilers of the film... Some I shouldn't have seen. But I'm still looking forward to it.

ArlettyFan
27th January 2005, 08:21
The War! Thing is cheesy, but also kind of fitting and "TEN-HUT" like, which I like alot. It's the latter part where they get real crazy....lol. And I'm not talking about the

*spoilers to those who don't want to read the scroll*

kidnapping palpatine part either.

* end spoiler *

I'm just talking about the way they worded the rest of the peice! :?

Misfit
27th January 2005, 08:23
Yeah, I see what you mean.

ArlettyFan
27th January 2005, 08:57
Well nonetheless, I'm still looking very forward to the movie.

Moco
27th January 2005, 09:03
Well, that's definitely got me a bit excited. Though it is strange to see them reveal the opening crawl like this. I don't recall if they did this for the other two prequels.

ArlettyFan
27th January 2005, 09:04
but for example of what I am saying, Usually these scrolls are vague, but look how vague THIS is!

*spoiler*(not really! )

There are heroe's on both sides. Evil is everywhere.

What? Those sentences don't even sound right in that order. They should have added a conjunction and combined them. There are heroe's on both sides, and evil is everywhere. Or, "There are heroe's on both sides and evil is everywhere" would work since grammer rules tell us we can ommit the comma if the sentence can still be understood and has no ambiguity to it. But ick, even that doesn't sound too good! Read the other scrolls, you will notice they are more specific that this...

at least I won't be in for a shock at the theatre, I think I would have chocked! :P

Moco
27th January 2005, 09:12
*ahem* "heroes" :P

Yeah, it does sound kind of odd the way they worded it. But I don't think it really sounds vague at all. At least not to me. I mean because we know Palpatine must be playing both sides and then we also know that Anakin is supposed to turn from a good guy to a bad guy. So it does a good job of explaining the duplicitous nature of some of the characters. And who knows...there may be more of them.

ArlettyFan
27th January 2005, 09:23
Actually upon reading it again, The only thing I really have a problem with is the two lines I mentioned. After that it gets about as specific about leading in the first scene as usuall.

But to me this doesn't have anything to do with the points like "what is going to happen to palpatine, What is going to happen to Anakin." I could really care less, I just want them to make an interesting flow, that can set up the first scene. It really doesn't have to, and doesn't say anything else.

Also it's not going to look exactly like that in the movie. I can already see from the III scroll, and every other episode scroll, they neglected to capitalize half the words they usually do. For example, in episode V it says DARTH VADER instead of "darth vader" and LUKE SKYWALKER instead of "luke skywalker." Likewise in the rest, they left most of it out. :?: So we can expect many more of the key words to be capitalized in the movie. My guess is in the ep III scroll it will say "GENERAL GRIEVOUS" and "two JEDI KNIGHTS" like usual.

not to nitpick at all....too late.

Moco
27th January 2005, 09:57
Are you sure they capitalized all those words? I don't remember them all capped. But on that website, the words DEATH STAR and GALACTIC EMPIRE are capitalized as I remember them to be. I'll have to look at the DVD's to make sure, but I think they got it right on that site.

ArlettyFan
27th January 2005, 10:00

Something to look forward to, now that LOTR is over. But, we may have The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe soon, and C.S. Lewis and Tolkien were drinking buddies so hopefully that will turn into a 7-year movie cycle.

Those books were awesome when I was about 8, but I haven't read them since. I suppose they would be a fantastic movie series...

Sad thing is that I don't think they have plans to make the other ones yet.

@Misfit- I've never heard of General Grievous. Cool.

Heheheh

Christ! holy mother of #!&@*

he looks hideous

I've never seen this pic, you can't get any of this stuff at the official site.

This is the same actor from Return of the Jedi, and Episode 1 and 2, Ian McDirmid. I guess the makeup job is a little different, but those teeth really do look like they did in Return of the Jedi, pretty accurate I'd say!

That makes me wonder how a somewhat normal looking Palpatine can change his appearance so quickly to look like that! I thought the transition would be a bit more gradual and he wouldn't look like that until the era of the original movies.

I think we'll find out in Ep III.

I've seen a few more pictures that are a bit too spoiler-ish that kind of explain it but they were taken off the net.

Hmm, no I heard something about his backstory before, that he is so oversaturated in the dark side that it makes his body look older than it really is. i.e. 100 not 60. And that the appearence is a manifestation of the dark side that can be controlled to some degree.

@ ternuc: General Grievous

he has some cloak that mostly covers him
http://img19.exs.cx/img19/9458/cloak6op.jpg

He is the leader of the confederate droid army, dooku's rebellion. It is said that he is almost impossible to kill, he is known as a jedi killer and can somehow use four lightsabers at once. All of them he got by killing other Jedi.
http://img19.exs.cx/img19/6079/general1bt.jpg

He is supposed to be a living being but only his brain and face are not mechanical, or something.
http://img19.exs.cx/img19/2654/grievous4fg.jpg

http://img19.exs.cx/img19/9290/grievouscoverunknown0nv.jpg

There's some controversy if the new movie should really introduce new characters like this, it seems to be a character overload, and most people seem to really care about what is going to happen to the already established characters. I mean, new face of evil? Isn't Palpatine, Anakin/Vader, and Dooku already evil as it is?

The wookie General is really really big! :D They say chewie is average size for a wookie, not the tallest or smallest of them.

I tend to agree with those who don't want new characters at this point. I hope Grievous fulfills some important plot function, because otherwise 'looking cool' isn't enough reason for adding him into the movie. I think that's rather emblematic of the problems with the past two installments, actually.

ArlettyFan
24th February 2005, 00:14
heh, they might be exaggerating, but then again, some of these things in the new movies almost seem like exaggerations themselves.

Episode I we need a guy w/ a double bladed lightsaber, who can easily fend off two people at once.

Episode III, well, we already got palpatine fighting with a lightsaber, as shown in all these pics recently, as well as Windu and everyone else that usually does, and dooku ofc, so why not write in another character that has four lightsabers at once and can rotate his arms like helicopter blades while he cuts jedi down easily? Ya, ridiculous stuff, more of that plz! :P

@ Snatcher: he better, lucas stated that the general has tons of screentime and pages of lines, he is elemental somehow. I hope it is played out well, his function is supposed ot be the general of the droid army, of the Confederacy of Independant systems (Separtists), the guys under Dooku's lead.

And he has his own personal body guards, who look like cloaked monks. I see alot of personality at least being developed for the character this time....as opposed to Dooku

rofl that general grievious looks pwn, but i know a hell easy way to kill him...

blow the thing up with some warhead or something!

tern
24th February 2005, 10:43
Seems kinda ridiculous. I mean, if he's a droid, why not build two? Or a million? All the cost seems to be in R&D, once you got him making copies is cheap!

Misfit
24th February 2005, 10:50
I read that Grievous is an alien but only his brain/head is intact and the rest is a robot body. I dunno... >_>

tern
24th February 2005, 10:59
Good idea. Find more aliens and turn them into cybernetics with heightened strength and killing ability. Really, it is a flawed part of the plot to only have one. I mean, why not combine the Jang_ofett brains with the droid army bodies or something? It makes perfect sense.

ArlettyFan
24th February 2005, 11:00
Na, I can dispute that notion actually. I've read the bio on him, the "before movie story familiarization" from the official site. Unlike Dooku, who's allegience and mysterious set of morals was to come as a suprise, This movies sets up with Grievous notioned in the opening scroll as evil in some way, where it was unclear in the scroll what to make of dooku and the army (it can be said that both sides of the clone war conflict are evil, or that the republic is more evil, that is the paradox of this war anyway) Whatever the intentions of the confederacy really boils down to, the General himself IS supposed to be regarded as evil.

So this is not a spoiler.

General Grievous, has character because he is NOT a droid. By all means, he is a cyborg. it's just that over time he replaced is own body, part by part, with his own prefered mechanical parts and limbs, to make himself more efficient and deadly. You can say he very much is an organism which can think subjectively, because he has a brain, and apparently, partly has a face, and biological eyes still, for sure, as you can see by the closeup of his face. The point here is to suggest a technique that will be used on vader, replacing a good portion of his body with machine.

So grievous cannot be copied into droid form, he is too unique, and doesn't think with a computer. therefore, in order to make copies ternuc, you must CLONE him (a very small part of him :P ), which is not the point of the separtist army, they are supposed to like to use machines. That is the point of the army of the republic, the "clone army" and the way they consider it to be done.

What you propose would be interesting though, because Greivous is part machine and part and part living, copying him would be a complete mixture of the two armies, cloning and production. How ironic. I really don't doubt that it's supposed to be ironic that he is the leader of the droid army and is also alive, as to say, who is really bad here? Especially as Palpatines real intentions are revealed.

Since he has many lines, I hope for it to at least turn out well. He was supposed to be voiced by Gary Oldman but isn't allowed to because lucas is not in agreeance with his actors guild (imo the biggest letdown), then it was supposed to be whoever played gimli in lotr, but alas, now it's some random guy...

oh well, should provide a neat special effect if all else fails. god I can talk about star war FOREVER

EDIT haha, there was a few posts while i was writing this. yes, he has reptilian eyes.

http://img19.exs.cx/img19/9290/grievouscoverunknown0nv.jpg

Interesting about the eyes, since he seems to have dinosaur feet.

holy crap, in that one part, Anakin is Killing Nemodians! (That green race that heads the trade federation, like Nute Gunray).

OMG, killing happening in the trailer! I can't wait, from everything i've heard, without a doubt, this movie will have the most onscreen death ever in a star wars movie. Starwars.com says Anakin alone kills dozens (and I'm talking lifeforms, not droids!)

Wow, good eye. I didn't even notice who are what was spinning that blue lightsaber until you pointed it out and I had to go through it frame-by-frame. And Anakin better kill dozens of people, or else we won't believe he becomes a badass as Darth Vader. I also really love how they're bringing back the Wookiees. Just that one shot of those two hanging on with the wind blowing through their hair is awesome.

I never really visit the official website either. I just get my news off of www.theforce.net, which is where I found this bit of news.

hmmm, i made a lengthy post at about 5 a.m. US. eastern time. oh well.

Here is the full theatrical trailer, straight off the OC (and not the one off hyperspace, so I assume this is more public domain, more legal).

http://s30.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0P04SQ44PH1MG2503IP3AG1HHR

I'd like to say that I didn't expect the trailer to be done so well. There seems to be a lot more feeling in this than I ever assumed, the hair was standing up on the back of my neck when I saw this.

Anakin Ice's four more nemodians, and palpatine shows no mercy the whole time. I love it when he's force throwing the senators pods at yoda.

It looks like it will tie in. I noticed the dialogue seemed superb, I hope they didn't use all the good dialogue just in the trailer, because this trailer alone seems to have better sentences than Ep I and II put together.

This unfortunately seems to retain some of the vibe from ep II, however it also seems so very different overall, this movie might feel very different, and that would be very good.

http://img139.exs.cx/img139/8704/0120thcenturyfox5lr.jpg
I'd like to point out the 20th Century Fox logo, I didn't expect to see this :P

http://img146.exs.cx/img146/6919/shuttleandtiejedistarfighters1.jpg
appears to be the precurser to the familiar Imperial Lambda class shuttle from the old trilogy, also the tie fighters of course (and these ones are not even the jedi tie starfighters also in the trailer).

http://img139.exs.cx/img139/3900/anakinandobiwan1pe.jpg
This lightsaber sequence, including the surroundings, is almost like the part in "empire strikes back" move for move, when vader lunges at luke and the sabers hit the walls in a furry. Good, because the battle in "The Empire Strikes Back" was always my favorite one, long, drawn out, changing pace from fast to slow, lots of dialogue, and as emotional as it should be. If this battle is in the same style, I might have a new favorite.

http://img146.exs.cx/img146/6329/rotj9fi.jpg
Best of both worlds? This set up is exactly like Return of the Jedi, with Anakin taking Lukes place. Could this be the reference that this is a struggle with the dark side that anakin lost and luke eventually won? I think the reference here is clear.

http://img146.exs.cx/img146/4896/stormtrooper1nw.jpg
We might as well call these storm troopers now.

http://img146.exs.cx/img146/40/pilotverymuchlikeoldtrilogy7td.jpg
If you look hard, this human pilot and his primitive looking readout reminds me of the old trilogy.

http://img146.exs.cx/img146/4554/paplatineoldstyle9id.jpg
also, Ian McDirmid, looks just like he did when he first played the role of palpatine in "Return of the Jedi". Great actor for the part, and one of the brightest things as far as acting goes, for the new trilogy imo.

http://img146.exs.cx/img146/7449/greviousgaurd6zh.jpg
This is not grievous, it's one of his body gaurds. You can see four of these guys standing next to Grievous at some point where obi wan is surrounded. These body guards have staffs.

http://img202.exs.cx/img202/2079/freaky5kd.jpg
and this is the freakiest thing I've seen, I have no idea what it is.

all in all, I don't know the plot (probably why I don't know what that ball of light is), but I know it ends somewhat like this. :P Of course we all know that. The way he crosses his arms -classic!

Damn Jango, you beat me. I wasn't going to post such an in-depth description of the trailer with pics, but I had downloaded it from the eDonkey networks and uploaded it to yousendit.com when I checked this thread. Here's the link if the one Jango provided goes dead. I'm assuming it's the same file since it has the OC intro:

http://s2.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2QOALI9QVGOZ82WZO60DG1YJOY

My reaction... well I had completely forgotten about the trailer showing during the OC and I was watching the Laker game on another channel. As the game ended I started flipping channels and caught about the last minute of the trailer. My jaw literally dropped and I got chills down my spine when Obi-Wan shouted, "You were supposed to be the chosen one!". It only got better after seeing the complete trailer. Palpatine is such a bad-ass and I love the part when the Jedi come to arrest him and he says "Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?" And then he takes out his lightsaber and lunges at the Jedi like an animal. Awesome stuff!

That pic, though, of Palpatine when he's in, I guess, his "Sidious" mode is kind of weird. Looks like he gains about 50 pounds when he does so. :P

And for those of you that live in the US, there's going to be a 60 Minutes special on Revenge of the Sith and George Lucas this Sunday, March 13th. If you ever saw the Phantom Menace special they did before that movie was released, this one should be similar. That is, lots of new footage and behind the scenes stuff.

Shifting one rating in a closed franchise is risky enough...

They really gave Lucas a whole lot of liberty to do this....

Snatcher42

I think Lucas has used his influence to push this rating through as a kind of publicity stunt... that's not necessarily a bad thing, I just think this is a calculated move.

Well from what I know from the official site, they shot many of the more violent scenes with a muiltitude of outcomes, so that they could pick and choose and get away with as much as they could with a PG rating. I remember Rick McCallem (the executive producer) saying he would love to have a PG-13 or even R rated Star Wars, but even he could not make it happen. This was about 8 months ago, what happened after that, I don't know.

We aren't going to the midnight showing at the Cinerama. It's such an awesome theater. It's one of very few in the country with a digital projector that has to receive the video via special satellite uplink because it's 4.5 terrabytes or so.

Right, the goal will be to do it with other movies in the future obviously. It's just that, episode II was the first movie shot with digital camera's and not film at all. I know episode III was shot that way too, but I'm not sure if any other movies have been shot that way yet.

Right. I can't imagine George Lucas would ever take a step back with technology. That's preposterous. On that list I saw a couple of theaters in Ohio with digital projection Jang. Go befriend someone with a car.

Off the top of my head, I know that Once Upon a Time in Mexico and Collateral were shot in digital. And I'm pretty sure Episode II was not the first movie filmed entirely in digital, but I don't know what the first was. Once Upon a Time... may have been filmed before or the same time as Episode II even though it was released a year later, since the release date kept getting pushed back.

ArlettyFan
20th April 2005, 09:25
ah, I know they tried to lay some claim for the new trilogy being shot in digital as some if they were pioneers, but I heard it from a source that has proved to be pretty invaluable and dishonest (LucasFilm themselves and on the extra's of the dvd's!).

and Ternuc, I have a car, and the one location in ohio is only a few short miles away, but I don't think it's worth it since I have the movies on dvd anyway.

Haha, that's so classic. Triumph does cross the line sometimes but he is hilarious. And of course, Conan is the best late night talk show host, hands down. Can't wait for him to take over for Leno in like 5 years. :P

Anywho, some new EPIII stuff:

First is a music video called "A Hero Falls", which is made up of clips from ROTS, about half of which we've already seen in the full trailer, the other half is new footage (so there may be some spoilers). It's set to the main theme of the movie "Battle of the Heroes", which, in my opinion, is an absolutely superb piece of music. A powerfully dark fusion of orchestra and chorus, kind of like what "Duel of the Fates" was for TPM but only darker.

A Hero Falls - Music Video (http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/release/trailer/10.html)

And you can also listen to the full soundtrack CD, courtesy of AOL, for free (and legally) here:

I just got that DVD a few days ago too! I watched them all online a while ago. While I thought they were OK, their 3-minute length per episode was much too short and didn't let you get into it before it was over. Now on the DVD, they edited them all together so it makes like a 60+ minute movie, and it works much better! The recent Clone Wars season 2 (or is it 3?) was pretty good too.

Finally, a Star Wars movie that doesn't have those usuall Star Wars rules and formula, making it so wooden and predictable. The plot may be a little predictable, but the screenplay and acting sure isn't this time. That looked like no strings attached, and didn't feel like star wars.

This is likely even better than Jedi. I'd say this for now:

1. Empire
2. Hope
3. Sith
4. Jedi
5. Clones
6. Menace (it was a Menace to moviegoers  )

Well, I just saw the movie yesterday, and I must say I was very overwhelmed by it. It not only met my expectations, but it exceeded them. And I had pretty high expectations to begin with. The movie hit all the right notes and was executed brilliantly. That said, people weren’t kidding when they said this was the darkest of all the Star Wars movies. It was almost borderline depressing. But that’s not a bad thing. It makes Darth Vader’s redemption at the end of Return of the Jedi all the more meaningful. It also does a great job of bridging the first two episodes with the original Star Wars and now it feels good to finally know the complete story arc.

I havnt seen the movie yet, the first one was cool, but the second was sucked! None of them even come close to the original StarWars, that was just fantastic. I will see this when it comes on dvd or i might download it soon. Anyway, StarWars freaks scare me :?

Anyway, StarWars freaks scare me

That's why I loved going to opening day of all three of these because then I can go and gawk at those people who are dressed up and whatnot. It was even better for LOTR because the first three rows of the theater when I went to see TTT were full of people dressed up and a bunch of uncoordinated people were doing mock sword fights up front.

^Really? I went to it on the opening day, and I didn't see anyone dressed up :(

Did you see the world premiere on even on TV? They even had a parade. O_o NZ is strange.

Well, it was an amazing copy indeed. Perfect!

The movie was ok i guess, better than the first one and tones better than the second one. Story line was good but also kinda boring. Im glad the hidious love affair is now over. It was kinda depressing to see all the Jedi being wiped out one by one. Starwars 4 should be great i think...

I can understand now how Darth-Vader came about ect.. So now i can understand the other starwars movies better with Luke Skywalker n that.

The "Order-66" (or whatever) part of the movie was depressing indeed but at the same time I found it quite impressive (overwhelming?). A good movie though. I like the first trilogy better than episodes 1,2 and 3, but the lightsaber battles on the new ones are a treat.

Hmm...

I personally thought it was only "average" for a star wars film (great entertainment!!!) - too many things just were glossed over... most noticeably the script.

I cannot help but feel that George Lucas is a pioneer of the special effects - and a big kid. For that, he gets wayyy to into his special effects, and forgets to write the script. All three of these movies seem to have scripts that were written as an afterthought. He spent all his time on the visuals of the film, and wrote the scenes in his spare minutes.

He really should have invested some money and allowed someone else to write the script out better...

Furthermore - some scenes were, well, barmy. Why do we follow the wookies for a time? That was completely irrelevant - it only introduced Chewbacca, and even then, only for a short period. The indepth following of Obi Wan after General Grievous was another - why so much camera footage about something that was so unimportant to the plot?

Lucas diverted away from what was an incredibly powerful storyline - Anakin turning into Lord Vader... Obi wan was away, allowing Anakin to become lured - but they could have just got shut of him "24" style (make something up off screen to entertain the character until needed). He should have left out the Wookies and Obi Wans extensive scene (it could have been done alot quicker if it needed to be in), and worked more on Anakins relationship with the Senator Palpatine. There could have been more emphasis on the division between the Council an Anakin, more emphasis upon Padme and Anakins relationship (without a diabolical diologue) and finally more on the Senator himself.

As it was, Anakin suddenly chops of Mace's arm after staying on the good side, and goes "all in" suddenly, heading off to hack away at people. For me, here lay the biggest issue. It was rushed, and missing the vast potential for outstanding dialogue, personal torment and actual acting!

However, the movie did rock - the fights, the CGI - all very impressive. Apart from R2D2... why... why did R2D2 suddenly become an uber robot?

Great entertainment, but so much missed potential with that script. It COULD have been the best film out of all of them, instead of relishing in 3rd or 4th place.

It was the shit but inadequate. I'm still dumbfounded as to how Obi Wan single-handedly took out General Grievous when Grievous was able to beat the crap out of 6 Jedi Masters at the battle of planet Hypori in the Clone Wars.

Yeah, it's odd. But explainable. The Council sent Obi-Wan to fight Greivous because he uses a very simple lightsaber style (Ataru, used for blaster deflection) which is not commonly used for dueling. Ben leads his enemy into a false sense of security and then breaks out his true style which is Soresu which encourages the practitioner to place himself in the 'eye of the storm'.

Obi-Wan's audacity is the key to his awesome stance.

This bothered me aswell. I think this movie would've been a lot better as a book, because those things could have been included in a book (minus the "actual acting" of course). You have to give up something so the movie doesn't became too long. Anyway I liked it. It was good entertainment and that is what is was made to be. Plus the ultimate lighsaber duel between Yoda and Palpatine.

Ha! I finally found out the reason Kenobi was able to eliminate Grievous. I just watched Clone Wars: Volume II online over at www.cartoonnetwork.com and before Grievous could totally escape, Mace Windu used the force to crush parts of his vital organs which resulted to his seemingly weakened state (i.e. succesive coughing) in the earlier scenes of Revenge of the Sith.

Ahh, but that shouldn't have affected his fighting state because his mind ought to have been fine and most of his fighting parts are robotic anyway.

Not really. He was freshly damaged when Kenobi confronted him & he was coughing alot like an old hag. It was because of Mace Windu's (undoubtedly the greatest Jedi equal to Yoda IMO) expertise that this Jedi killing machine was able to be defeated.
I was upset because they removed alot of grand Jedi death scenes. As much as it pains me, I wanted to see Anakin behead Shaak Ti at the Jedi temple & remove her legs from her body. Instead they showed death scenes from those unknown jedis who weilded starfighters.

About all those things people wished had been in there: I wouldn't have minded if this movie was about 4-5 hours longer and just explored everything else that was out there, but sadly, it was not to be.

Oh really, you're missing out mate!

Episodes IV --> VI are absolute classics - love em.

Episodes I and II had cool effects but MAJOR cheese factor in dialogue etc. detracted from them.

ALthough very graphic in parts, i thought Episode III was the best of the initial three by far. I also loved the transition to Darth Vaders mens new unifroms and how despite being filmed almost 20 years ago, they made the technology of the crafts etc in those original films look more modern as would be appropraite with the Star Wars time line.

Lightsabers and Yoda - pure joy!

hey Franka,

You don't have to do anything you don't want to, but you're one of the lucky few who could actually watch them from episodes 1 --> 6 in order from our generation that could if they wanted! Most of us had already seen episodes 4->6 from our parents' advice, and while we enjoyed it - seeing them in order would add another dimension.

I would advise them at some stage, you won't regret it!

As for Kingdom of Heaven, looking forward to seeing it when it's released down here too and my bloody exams are over!!

Cheers Eh!
