Ok, I know that there's another forum dedicated to Alizee known as MF-International. So my question is, would joining there be considered a betrayal here or is it a sister forum or are they connected, or what?
DavidAlizée
15th October 2004, 23:53
You don't wanna join that forum.... trust me on that. Its not a nice place to be. ( i wouldnt say dedicated, that is so not the correct word ) Some people there are so against Alizée its unbelivable... even the forum owner. But hey.. you have your own right to make ur mind up. This is just in my opinion :P

MF-International is a completely different type of forum than this one. It's geared more toward French music in general, so there aren't as many Alizée fans there as there are here. The Alizée section there is more of like a remnant of days gone by when the forum was called Hey Amiga! and Alizée was the main focus. But the people there aren't so against Alizée; they're just a little more critical and more objective when expressing their opinions about her and her career. Think of it as if you were reading the general public's opinion about her, not that of a diehard fan. But it's completely up to you if you want to join that forum. If you like French music other than Alizée, then it's a great forum. But if all you like is Alizée, you might be better off staying here.

I don't consider it a "betrayal", since many members of this forum, me included, post at MFI from time to time. But there is a rather large difference of opinion and atmosphere between the two forums. MFI was originally an Alizée forum but it has evolved into a French music forum in general. And people are much more sarcastic over there, which can be intimidating sometimes. :P If you're interested in checking out other French music besides Alizée, it's a good place to visit, but if you're an Alizée fan, you'll be much more welcomed over here.
edit--Darn it, Moco posted before I could finish mine. Oh well.

I see. Well, I think I'll stay here for now although Captain Gorgeous is quite amusing. Maybe he has alot of time on his hands :? Ok By the way, what's with all the lip color indicating: newbie, mega Alizee lover, die har fan etc..? Does that mean that u can post unlimited messages...w/out paying or something? I know the site is free but do we have limits in terms of posting (say like we can't post for more than 3 years?). Just curious. :?
DavidAlizée
16th October 2004, 00:56
the more posts you make, the more lips you get. Yes this site is free, you pay nothing, don't worry aboout it :)
If you realy want to part with your money, speak to Riccardo to get unlimited access to his FTP: and download Alizée videos for a small donation. =)
No limits, just don't go crazy and make 3 topics per day and ull be alright :P
Welcome to the forum btw.

It's good to see some mature fans here. Not that I think you're an old man or anything. Just nice to see a variety coz some ppl seem to have what I call "Humbertism" which means that they only like Alizee for her role as Lolita but her music was excellent then, but maybe of a lesser might at present. I can't deny that I've been affected by this, although I really enjoy Alizee as she ages. I care little for her image, it's just that perhaps I highly prefered the Mylene-styled music that she had before. I predict that her next image would most likely be punk rock, or maybe not. I haven't seen the "I'm fed up" black sailor outfit performance she had. I've read some of the forums and got some feedbacks that it nearly gave male seniors heart attacks. I have yet to see that vid.
Edit: You guys are so right. MF-International is a savage place to be in. And Moderators and Board Admin. in MF-Int are such touchy bitches  .

Melodramatic,
Well... basicaly that's the history... MFI is a fully dedicated Alizée Forum... but then the owner fall into the dark side (Prissou... ). Now is a "French Music" forum that sometimes resembles an Alizée haters forum... (under the costume of being "objective"... )
Did you guys know that I'm banned from the MFI? (they banned me about 3 months ago...)
Actually what I don't like from the MFI is the uptight attitude... I don't know...
And Riccs is a real model... haven't you seen the interview or so that the german tv did with him? I don't remember the link... :?
Welcome to the forum... I hope you'll have a great time here...

I highly agree w/ you guys. I've asked someone to post similar topics there and all of the cranky bitches locked it up, never giving the threads a chance to flourish! They have clearly embraced the Sith! Oh ok, so Riccardo is a model. Not meaning to offend any1 but I actually first thought that he was a male pornstar just because his website required somethin' somethin. But glad he's not a pornstar. Oh MFI, why did you have to fall in to the dark side?
p.s. Can anyone please gimme links to english MF websites 'coz I wanna delve into her music more. thanks.
Backinblack
19th October 2004, 00:37
Actually, I've noticed that the focus of MFI switches whenever Kam (the owner) has a new thing for someone; first it was Alizée and Mylène, then Prissou, and now Radia.
Not meaning to offend any1 but I actually first thought that he was a male pornstar just because his website required somethin' somethin.

Ah, that's a great line. I guess you could be tempted to think that, when you see him in his underwear on the first page. :P Then again, I'd rather not think about it.
As for Mylène info in English, of course MFI is a good resource, especially for English translations of her songs (with some mp3s). I haven't come across many other up-to-date Mylène sites in English. Even if you can't read French, you might find www.mylenefarmeriscalled.net useful, especially for her discography here (http://www.mylenefarmeriscalled.net/albumgraphie.html). Also, if you have specific questions about her, there's several people here (Moco, Snatcher, John, among others) who could help you out as well.
Melodramatic
19th October 2004, 05:22
Merci BB. Your resources are invaluable. But yeah Kam and the Honorable are a bunch of hypocritical divas. And seriously I think they're gay(not that there's anything wrong w/ that). No kidding. just read some of the thread they did. Ok that was just a lil tid bit there.

Ok, so if there's nothing wrong with being gay, why do we need that thread to laugh at their supposed "gayness"? I really don't see the point of this thread going further if all it's going to do is bash MF-I. You may have had your run-ins with The_Honorable and Kam, but they have their own way of running their forum and it's their right to enforce it as they see fit. That's certainly no reason to mock them behind their backs. If you don't like them and their forum, fine, just leave it at that. No need to create any further hostilities between the two forums. Time to move on and forget it.
Melodramatic
19th October 2004, 15:41
Well I'm sorry if you didn't like my bashing of the MFI, but I had my reasons and I needed to vent, but rest assured I'm so over it. I had no intention of letting u laugh at their "supposed gayness", just that that thread was hilarious. That's all there is to it
Now, on to another random Q:
I've never been able to find the JEAM live performance in Hit Machine. I've tried some of the links and they don't work. Anybody have links to this performance? And I've heard of an MF song called California or Californie...which 1 is it and what album? Love that song!
Edit: Who among you in this forum have actually been to an Alizee concert?

Taken from the phpbb user guide (http://www.phpbb.com/support/guide/):
4.2.7: Quoting Messages
Quoting messages allows you to include other's posts in your own. It is useful for showing that you are replying to a post, or part of a post.
To quote all of someone's post, look at the top right corner of their post and click Quote. This will take you to the posting form, and will allow you to reply to the post. It will also automatically add the appropriate BBCode to your post to quote the post you are replying to.
The proper syntax to quote a post is:
[quote="<name to quote>"]<text to quote>[/quote]
<name to quote> is the source of your quote, and <text to quote> is what you are quoting. So to quote the user Cheese Man saying "Power the behold of cheese."
[quote="Cheese Man"]Power the behold of cheese[/quote]
Also, we have an entire section dedicated to questions or problems with the forum:

Ok back to the topic's purpose, heh.
Have any of you seen the short film (I believe it's German) "Try" ? It is dubbed in English-English, and is on the Smashing Pumpkins DVD. (although I don't like them, I saw this 15 minute film in the library of my school and thought it to be a greatly made short film)
Just want to know who has and what you thought of it, and how you viewed things differently, if you did at all, on dreams and hopes and the like.

Yes, the tonsils. They can get infected and might have to be removed (not a big deal, but you probably will have to go into a hospital for a few hours)... you should get it checked out by a doctor. Maybe it can be cleared up with antibiotics.

you want to put a Gif in your avatar? you need to upload the .GIF to imageshack or another location, and chose in your profile " link to off site url" or something. Paste the bottom URL into that. That gets your Gif in your avatar.

A little question about Alizée.
- She was 15 while they filmed Moi...Lolita
- 16 in L'Alizé & Parlour Tout Bas
- 17 in Gourmandises
Is this info right?
RR

They're similar, but not exactly the same thing. Here's a good explanation of what makes them different:
Differences Between MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger
If you're confused about the differences between the two instant messaging programs, there's no need to be. Windows Messenger is the default messaging program for Windows XP and is a well-rounded and comprehensive application. Using Windows Messenger, you can have voice and video conversations; group your contacts in various ways; use emoticons; send files, photos, and music; send messages to a mobile device; share applications; and communicate in real time with your contacts. Windows Messenger was also created with the corporate user in mind and can be integrated with the Exchange Instant Messaging service.
But because Windows Messenger is a practical business application, it doesn't have all of the fun stuff that MSN Messenger does. MSN Messenger offers many of the features of Windows Messenger and some extra perks. You can play games with a buddy; you can configure Web cam settings; make a phone call using your PC and microphone; create your own emoticons; keep a log of your past IM sessions; access your address book, and much more. MSN Messenger was created with the consumer end-user in mind and offers more consumer-related options. Figure 1 shows the MSN Messenger 6.0 interface.
See the entire article here (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/windowsmessenger/ballew_03august11.mspx).
There's more details on the differences on this page (http://messenger.msn.com/help/#LQ3).

Lately, I heard someone complain that they couldn't add people to thier buddy list on thiers, and that other people needed to add them.

I'm too lazy to look for the specific interviews, but I don't think she pulled a Bjork. Moco, Snatcher, anyone who has more info can clarify, but from what I know, this was on her promotion trip to Asia when she was sick, and when she arrived at the airport she stopped for pictures and things, but then the photographers chased after her. She spent a half hour in the bathroom there because she was sick, and the media wasn't told why, so they were upset with her because of that. Then her entourage tried to get through security as quickly as possible, so her manager cut in line, which made other people in line upset, and of course the photographers were still there trying to take pictures, so Alizée just covered her face from them until they could get out of the airport.

Concerning that TV show (Les 100 ans du tour de France), it was all about $$$$$$. (Or, I guess, it was about €€€€€). In the summer of 2003, part-time workers in the performing arts industry went on strike because of issues concerning unfair unemployment compensation. It was cheaper for companies to "lay off" their workers and pay unemployment compensation for those people even though they were still working, instead of paying regular wages for them when they only worked a few weeks out of the year for those companies. The unions thus decided to strike and manifest their protests at every public performance they could attend that summer. That TV show was just one of many that was disrupted by the strikers (those in the crowd holding up the pieces of paper). People weren't booing because of Alizée. It was the same for other performers.

Thanks BIB. It really made me cringe at the end. She sported a confused, appreciation smile. :?

For those who have been, is Rome better in the fall or spring? Or if you could choose, when would you go?
Orion
12th May 2005, 06:16
I would go in the spring because there are less tourists and the flights might be cheaper than summer or Christmass ones. It all depends on what you want to do when you get there. Summers are very HOT and I would only spend my money on a summer vacation if I was going for the sand and beach and chicks attraction that goes on in the summer in the southern part of Italy *cough* . . . . trust me :cheesy: If you want to visit the castles and such, I would go in the fall just for the personal aura and nostalgia I feel with the middle ages etc.
I was there only in the summer. Like Orion said it is incredibly hot and since there are so many places to walk and see (not all museums like some cities seem to be) I'd go in fall or spring. That way you won't be there with annoying American tourists. :P

How are actors paid?
#1 Who pays them? The Gov't or the producers?
#2 Who decides when their salary should go up?
#3 If they're not as popular as they had been, will their salary lower?
#4 Are they affected by tax?
#5 Does the Oscars put an actor in a million dollar range?
#1 Who pays them? The Gov't or the producers?
LOL, the government? Good one. No, if you're talking about Hollywood movies, the actor's salary is part of the film's budget, which is paid for by a studio (ex. 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., etc...)
#2 Who decides when their salary should go up?
Agents are usually the driving force in getting their clients the money their worth. An actor's value is based on a number of things, such as box office success in previous films, awards, popularity & previous salaries.
#3 If they're not as popular as they had been, will their salary lower?
Answered above.
#4 Are they affected by tax?
Everyone who earns money has to pay taxes.
#5 Does the Oscars put an actor in a million dollar range?
Not necessarily, but having an Oscar certainly doesn't hurt.

LOL, the government? Good one. No, if you're talking about Hollywood movies, the actor's salary is part of the film's budget, which is paid for by a studio (ex. 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., etc...)
Really? So the money doesn't come from the producers? What does a producer do anyway? So for example, say Titanic's budget was $200,000,000, and a hollywood big shot actor starred in it & his salary from previous movies was already like 25 million, would the supposed $200,000,000 budget cover his salary or will he be paid separately by someone else?
A producer is in charge of the overall organization of a film, making sure all the parts are in place, like casting, locations, screenplay, budget, crew positions & promotion. Basically, he oversees everything. And he doesn't pay the actors directly; that would be like your boss paying you straight out of his pocket. The money you receive comes from the company (unless your boss owns the company). So yes, that $25 million for the actor would come out of the film's budget. Again, this is all assuming the film is being made under the Hollywood system. In an independent film (a film not financially backed by a large studio), the actors would probably be paid directly by the producers, so their salaries would gernerally be much lower. Unless the independent film is called Star Wars and George Lucas is personally paying for everything himself, which he actually did.

They gain the money to make a movie. It can be large or small, they have to make the movie with that budget. They have to hires actors, staff, crew, camera's and all that other stuff.Logical that 1/10 movies is really gonna break through!

We have very high standards of music. The charts are damn hard to get in, and stay there. For Alizée to get No.9 is an outstanding achievement! .
Basically to get in the top 10, you have to be damn good.

Well, because Moi... Lolita was a French song. You don't see many French songs on the UK charts. I think the French last artist to have success in the UK like Alizée was Vanessa Paradis in the 1980's.

Or about 1.3 million in France. Dunno exactly how long it stayed on the charts, but it did do phenomenally well. For a time, Alizée had two hits in the top 10: L'alizé at #1 and Moi... Lolita still there around #3 or so.

No idea about razz.. but dry spell means a quiet period. You know, like in business, sometimes we say.. " they must have a dry spell" meaning ' they must not have alot of work on, during this quiet period"

Don't forget the original... a literal dry spell: when an area doesn't get any rain for a long period of time.

We've had a bunch recently... take a look at the Memberlist (http://www.alizee-forum.com/memberlist.php).
What does "Razz" mean?
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=razz&r=f
1. razz
to make fun of
2. razz
to get very drunk
We're going out on the razz.
3. razz
To heckle or laugh at contemptuously. It comes from the word razzberry (raspberry), a sound of contempt made by protruding the tongue between the lips and expelling air forcibly to produce a vibration. Like what chimpanzees do.
What Duane said to his girlfriend when he got home from work after walking around all day with his zipper down.
Girlfriend: "How was your day at work today, Duane?"
Duane: "I got razzed by the guys again today."
There are a few more.

Yup, though registering there seems to be down at the moment.

BBCode are the tags like [img], etc. Set that to yes in most cases.
HTML is what most wepages are made out of. Kinda like BBCode but more advanced. Doesn't really matter how you set that unless you plan to use it.
Do you know who the Japanese hero Kikkoman is?
He came from the planet of soy...
