what does "cold turkey" mean in the context of smoking?
To quit completely, hard stop. No reduction in amount, no nicotine patches or gum, etc. Just quit on the spot. When my older brother was a baby, my mother quit cold turkey after 20+ years of smoking. She saw him reaching for the cigarette in her mouth, and realized she was setting a bad example. She threw out all her cigarettes right then and there and hasn't touched one in the 25 years since.

1. How do you put a title under your kissy rank?
2. In the Moi... Lolita concert version, the violins for the bridge seem to be real & sounded substantial whereas in the audio version, it sounded overwhelming & kinda crappy. What did they use for the audio version of the bridge?

You don't. It's worked into your avatar (like what David and PayBays have, although David's is more convincing). But I'd ask David before doing it, as he got a little annoyed when PayBays did it too :/

1. Bohemian
Somebody who leads an alternative lifestyle, they are not hippies because they can have an extremly wide range of different tastes in music, fashion, art, literature etc. They are usually very creative people. They are above all optimists, even if they can be very cynical too (it does make sense...sort of). they like wearing a mixture of wierd clothes and mix different fashions together just for the heck of it. They like weed. Generally very laid back and relaxed.
Not sure if that answers your question :/

3. Quality of Posts/Spam: We don’t expect every post to be a thought-provoking essay, but try to make sure your posts add something positive to the discussion or are at least worth people’s time reading. The following types of posts are not allowed:
* One or two-word posts (such as “LOL”, “I agree”, etc…)
* Posts consisting of only smilies/emoticons
* “Bump” posts whose only intent is to resurrect an old thread without anything meaningful to add
* Advertisements for money-making schemes, products, services, etc...

Actually the quality of the en concert CD is not as good as the ripped MP3 from the DVD. The ripped mp3 is not only better quality, but it has more of the live songs on, as per DVD.

okay for Limewire users & for those knowlegeable, when I click a song to download, it warns me that
"Limewire cannot find the license. Limewire cannot monitor the Gnutella activity so please respect your copyright laws."
^ What the hell does that mean?
DavidAlizée
4th August 2005, 22:26
same for most p2p now. Most have a rediculous license on them. You need to connect and download the license for free. I don't know much about it, i never download much now.
But, last time it sent me to some website that i entered a number in and i could listen and watch videos.

na, i don't know. When i use Kazaa it says the same thing. I don't know about limewire, but it sounds the same problem at kazaa also. It just means you need the license to watch it. It should auto connect you to the lisence page anyway. It did it to me when i downloaded some video clip.

Well, it says
"Limewire cannot find the license (for the particular song). Download anway?"
So it's still downloadable without the license. So my question is are why suppose to just "download anyway" (limewire users help me out here!)? and this Gnutella netwrok or genitalia whatever, what the hell is that?

I never occoured such errors.I work with Internet Explorer.I never had such errors.I had a error that a file ( with 278 people ) didn't download.
But the error you had, means you don't have the license,on your computer or don't have the access to see it.Usually you have to download it,or dial a number ( if we're downloading p-movies )
With Lime-Wire you don't download at your own risk. There is just 1 Golden Rule. When you UPGRADE to FULL Limewire it connects to everything, without needing a license
Don't know what you have.Full or Free?

I have the Free version. There isn't really any errors, just warnings about not having a license & "respecting copyright laws". That wasn't there before but limewire has upgraded itself to new version. I downloaded a track without its license but it still worked. It's kinda like what D13 said I guess.

I mean, if it's a file sharing network, why do they put warnings such as these (& they're very recent too)? Months ago they weren't there. So we're not suppose to download or what?

Yes, I have a firewall on. what do you mean you don't have it for songs? Of course it has songs. It's in the audio section of the search engine. Anyway Paybays, this is what you do to get the new (very cool) version of Limewire. Just uninstall your current limewire, & go to their official website & reinstall. You'll get their new version. Try it & tell me what happens.

Any port is dangerous, do you know what hackers do? Didn't think so.
The safest defense is a router with a stealth firewall, a router that doesn't even exist in the eyes of the outside. I don't know why I'm trying to explain this to you, why should I bother. I just wasted a minute of my life. Bah.

Deep impact is a mission about smashing a refrigerator sized probe into a comet to blast a bit of it away and measure it's interior via orbital satalite. It has nothing to do with the movie of the same title, or disasters.

Depends what browser you are using. In Firefox you can change it from:
view->text size
Or just hit ctrl++ (to increase) or ctrl+- (to decrease).
If you are using internet explorer then I don't know... But look if there's view-menu and something about text size in it.
More advanced way in Firefox is from:
tools->options->content

and if we survive that one,the next one will come in 2880
Next one won't come 2880. Next one comes this year. Actually, more than one comes this year and every other year in next few billion years. :)
Less than 1% of asteroids below 10km size is known. Smaller than 1km asteroids are known less than 0.1%. And smaller than 100m is so many that we will never be able to catalog them.
Those which we know and have calculated even rough orbit won't be really a threat for Earth. Even the one you mentioned coming in year 2880 (the asteroid is called 1950AD) isn't potentially dangerous. It's orbit is so well known that we can already say that it will miss us (even tho it will be extremely close approach).
Here is up to date list of asteroids that might be even lil risk for us:
http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/risk/
Look at the last colum, it's called Torino Scale (http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/torino_scale.html). It tells you the likelyhood of hitting earth. At the moment list has 3 asteroids with Torino Scale 1 and rest of them are 0. When taking account that Torino Scale goes from 0 to 10 we got no worries (even tho there's still small chance that they hit us. But chances are like 1 against 10000).
In September 2005 (yes, you read right, this month) there has been 7 close approaches already. And last day of August were extremely close approach, asteroid missed us by only 1.100.000 kilometers away (that's only 3 times Lunar's distance from us).
Last December asteroid missed us only 30.000km away. That's 10th of Lunar distance or twice the Earth's diameter.

You might need to do a spyware scan or something. You could also try a popup blocker. And if you use Firefox, install the Adblock extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=10) and use the Filterset.G (http://www.pierceive.com/) ad filters. If it's simulated, than it isn't really hardware, but virtual hardware. When I mentioned internet security, I wanted to say antivirus, antispam, antihacker threats (firewall ). And btw, you said that is simulated by the software firewall, that means you already using a software firewall. Ah... You got me wrong.
I meant that software firewall is just simulation of real hardware firewall (not vice versa). Software firewall gives basically you the same function as real firewall but will never be as secure as real one. Simply because sotwares always has bugs, and even the software firewall doesn't have any bugs (haven't yet seen software without bugs) some other program or the operating system itself has bugs that can be exploited to get around the software firewall. That's not possible with hardware firewall (if it's correctly configured it won't let any unwanted traffic through).
When I mentioned internet security, I wanted to say antivirus, antispam, antihacker threats (firewall ).
Antivirus isn't internet security program. Virii do not need internet to infect computers (it will make it faster, tho).
Antispam? What's that?
Antihacker threats... Well, again it's software firewall you are referring to.

You don't need internet to get 'virii'? Well, how do you get them? You're just copying them into your HDD? No way!
Antispam is a part of the software which monitorises your e-mails (similar to antiflood, if not the same).
To be honest I haven't heard such a thing. Hardware firewall! I think they do not exist, except for the software firewalls.
And btw, name one internet security program that has bugs (and I am talking about the licensed ones not cracked).

You don't need internet to get 'virii'? Well, how do you get them? You're just copying them into your HDD? No way!
Ok, there seems to be quite huge gap between our knowledge of computers history. But that's ok. Not everyone has lived their whole life sitting in front of computers. I have (since I was 6 and bought first computer). :)
Yes, originally virii ('virii' is, by the way, plural form of 'virus'. Not very common word nowadays, tho) was infected by copying files to your HDD by yourself (or by someone else who got access to your computer). There's been virii since the dawn of computer age. Internet (in form as you know it) has been around only 15 years, and widely used only 10 years.
Internet made virii to spread faster and wider. But it is still not the only way to spread out. Common type of virii that are transfered on CDs and floppies are macrovirii (virii that works in, for example, MS Word). Filecopying is still the most common way to spread macrovirii.
And it doesn't matter what way you get the virii, you can only get it by copying infected file. You can get that file from internet, CD, floppy, ehternet, you name it...
Worms are only kind of 'virii' (worm isn't real virii) that can infect only through network. It is made to live in networks and it doesn't necessary even need you to copy anything at all. It lives it's own life once released.
Antispam is a part of the software which monitorises your e-mails (similar to antiflood, if not the same).
So it's just email filter. Most decent email clients has it build in. Try for example Mozilla Thunderbird (very good email client, not perfect tho).
To be honest I haven't heard such a thing. Hardware firewall! I think they do not exist, except for the software firewalls.
Again, gap of our knowledge of computer history. :) Software firewalls is new invention. First came available only few years ago when hardware firewalls has been around decades.
And btw, name one internet security program that has bugs (and I am talking about the licensed ones not cracked).
Do you want alphabetical list of all programs ever released? Thanks but no thanks. It would take days to type. There is no bug free computer program (excluding scripts that has only couple lines of code. But they barely are programs). And it doesn't matter if it's cracked or licenced or freeware or openware or shareware. Every single one has bugs. Some has more severe bugs than others, some has less severe ones. Why do you think companies keeps (or atleast should) updating their software all the time? It's because they are fixing the bugs they have made. An while trying to fix the bugs they already got they creates new ones. It's never ending project.

[@RMJ] Well, is not a huge gap, if you put it that way. I know the plural to virus, and I know how one (or more) gets into our computers, but your missing the point here. You definitely will never put them by free will there, but by accident, and I ment never in case you are thinking otherwise because yes, you wouldn't do it. There are dialers, add-wares, spy-wares, bots, trojans, 'unwanted' scripts, and even virii, all of them are applications built to change a specific thing in your system, or executable files, or to do any other harmful change in every program you have there. I know all that, and more. :=D:
Antispam filters are used more in applications like Outlook Express or some like that, and not to mention they are not very useful nowadays (anyone can use e-mail account very simple without using Outlook). And btw, yes, I know that e-mail account have normally built-in antispam filters.
Regarding hardware firewall, I know that the B.I.O.S. has one and that knowledge is a little blur to me as in I never used it anyway. In my country I must use a firewall (software in particular) otherwise my computer would be attacked by any jerk in my network that wants to do a little hacking. Trust me, romanians are very interested in these things .
Last but not least, I don't want any alphabetical order software list, but to name the most commonly used ones, so I can have some knowledge of the existing of bugs.

Ok, for a moment it just looked so. :)
I know the plural to virus, and I know how one (or more) gets into our computers, but your missing the point here. You definitely will never put them by free will there, but by accident,
I'm not missing the point. Of course you don't put virii on your computer for your own will. But you cannot know what the floppy you are keeping in your hand has in it until you have put it in the computer and checked it. You also cannot know what you are actually downloading from net until you have downloaded it and checked it. In both cases you can get virus without your own will.
and I ment never in case you are thinking otherwise because yes, you wouldn't do it. There are dialers, add-wares, spy-wares, bots, trojans,
These are application and no way related to virii. They cannot get to your computer unless you install them to it. Which obvioulsy is stupid thing to do.
Antispam filters are used more in applications like Outlook Express or some like that, and not to mention they are not very useful nowadays (anyone can use e-mail account very simple without using Outlook).
Email clients aren't very useful? How do you plan to manage your email archive that has thousands of emails? Or even daily emails, which even after filtering might hit dozens. With web interface? Yeah, right.
Regarding hardware firewall, I know that the B.I.O.S. has one and that knowledge is a little blur to me as in I never used it anyway.
BIOS doesn't have firewall (BIOS is just software running on your motherboard. Forms layer between hardware and OS. Altho, modern operating systems can bypass it). Well, actually there is one or two motherboards that has built in firewall. But that makes just 0.1% of all motherboard models. So it's quite irrelevant.
Real hardware firewall is totally separated device from computer. Altho techniqally it could be integrated to computer. But it would increase the price quite a bit.
In my country I must use a firewall (software in particular) otherwise my computer would be attacked by any jerk in my network that wants to do a little hacking. Trust me, romanians are very interested in these things .
In any country you should use firewall of some sort. Even if it's software firewall, it's better than nothing. Only skilled cracker could pass it anyways. But worse than those crackers are worms are they are coded to look certain security holes.
And yes, I know there's some pretty talented Romanian people, as well as Polish. Too bad they are misusing their talents...
Last but not least, I don't want any alphabetical order software list, but to name the most commonly used ones, so I can have some knowledge of the existing of bugs.
As said, I would have to list every single one of them. Every single one of them has bugs. Such thing as bugfree program doesn't exists. It just matter of time when the bug is noticed and exploited. And that's what crackers do, they look for those bugs and triest to get advantage of them.

Actually, IE is the only one that HAS Java built in. Tho, the java engine it uses by default is Microsoft's 'java' engine that is based on Sun's very old Java engine. And is incompatible in many ways with Sun's Java.
Opera and Mozilla (including Firefox) needs Sun's Java plugin to be installed before they can do Java. Tho, that ain't problem as you should install that plugin anyways, even if you are using IE (to get fully working Java support).

If it has java built-in, then why when I access a java page is asking me to download and install the Java Virtual Machine, so I can visualise the page correctly? Isn't it acting like it has no java plugin built in?

Maybe your Windows installation was missing the Java engine. Default installation should have it. It has been part of Windows since Windows 95.
Hmm... Now when I rethink of it... It could be possible that it has been removed from newest versions of XP and Server 2003. I think Sun went to court about it and then MS and Sun made deal that MS's Java will be removed from future releases of Windows.
But atleast I have one XP version laying around which still has it. Then again, my Server 2003 doesn't have it but I cannot remember if I removed it before installation or didn't it even exists.

Usually i think about life a lot.About what we do here and why we're living.
People haven't discovered the Missing Link between apes and homo sapiens, but that's not what i wanted to talk about...so don't worry.
The thing i want to talk about is,trading your life with someone else.I know everyone wants to be Alizée,but do you really want to give up everything you have here for just that? All your friends, your family just to be with Alizée?
Sometimes i want to go back to the past, back to my normal and easy life.

Venus is brightest object right after Moon.
Altho, it could be Mars too, as Mars is currently very close to Earth and is very bright because of that (not as bright as Venus, tho).
What time can you see the object?
Venus can be seen only few hours after Sun has dawn or few hours before Sun rises (and it's always in the direction of the Sun. Well, max 40 degrees away from it).
Mars can be seen whole night and can be anywhere direction on the sky (well, not ANY. But any direction on it's path (same path that Sun and all the other planets moves, too).
Mars has very visible reddish color. Venus is white.
In theory it could be Jupiter too, as it's quite bright at the moment, too. It has yellowish color.
Well, I checked that Mars is supposed to be near Moon (and Plejades, group of bright blueish stars) tonight. So I guess your object is Venus if you see it opposite direction to Moon.
Btw, North Star isn't bright (altho it's brightest star of Ursae Minoris). :)
