Im just a little aggrivated that dallas wasted their first draft pick. Julius Jones broke his shoulder and is out for the season

Yeah I know how you feel, but that's just the nature of the sport. Carolina lost Steve Smith to a broken leg which they said will take at least 8 weeks to recover from. After that, probably rehab. So they'll be lucky to get him back by season's end. Hopefully, their other receivers can pick up the slack.

Carolina Panthers! I wrote a book on why I think they're going to get back to the Super Bowl again this offseason. I'll post it once I restart my computer. It's messing up right now.

Ah, here we go...

Remember that I wrote this well before the start of the season, so some stuff will sound a little odd. I just wanted to show you guys how much dedication I have to the Panthers. 8) The problem so far this year hasn't been the fact that the Panthers are playing bad, because we really haven't been. What we have been doing though is turning the ball over. We have a -5 turnover ratio on the year... ugh. I think we'll fix that though, and Davis should be playing against Denver on Sunday, so that's good.

--------------------------------------

If there's one word I want to use to describe our team this season, it's balance. I think we're the most balanced team in the league. Even though we were bested by the Patriots last year I think it was more because of a lack of experience that we lost, rather than the Patriots just being better than us. Because both teams were very evenly matched as we saw.

John Fox and Dan Henning have said many times that they're going to trust Jake Delhomme a lot more this season, and for good reason. We will still be mainly a running team, but the old saying that "if you get an early lead on the Panthers they can't beat you" is true no longer. Our WR's are pretty damn good as well. The Panthers aren't even close to being one dimensional any longer. With Davis and Foster on the ground we can come at teams with a powerful north/south runner or a fast and agile east/west runner. Brad Hoover is also developing and is becoming one of the better FB's in the league. Davis put up monster numbers all year last year, and in just one season became the best RB we've ever had. He broke every single season record that prior Panthers RB's put up before him. He should have another huge season, even with Foster having increased carries. And Foster put up solid numbers too for the amount of carries he had. He really stepped it up and showed how much heart he had in the playoffs. The greatest 1 yard TD run I've ever seen was just incredible, and he also had that awesome TD run in the Super Bowl. I think we can all expect to see great plays from our two RB's all year long.

We also have a lot of ways to come at teams in the passing game. We have a fast gamebreaker in Steve Smith, a strong possession WR in Moose, a clutch 3rd down WR in Proehl, and a young versatile WR in Keary Colbert. Smith had a breakout season, and it was only his third year in the league. He's clearly our best WR and he should be seeing the ball just as much, if not more, this season. He's extremely explosive and once he gets going down field it's pretty much impossible to catch him. He also plays as a return man. Moose catches a lot of flack for never quite putting up consistent enough numbers to reach his expectations, but he has always been a good WR for us and he really showed us a lot last season. His 88 yard TD reception broke a Super Bowl record, and he made big plays like that all year, although not quite that big. There are so many instances where Proehl completely saved our asses last season. He grabbed some balls that I thought couldn't be caught for sure. The man is almost 100% though. If you throw a ball his way he'll come up with it as long as it comes close enough for him to grab. He's getting older, but he's still taking the hits like a young guy and living to tell about it. Delhomme has also proven that he has quite an arm and is also elusive in the pocket. Many times last year he threw, and completed passes, which were thrown across his body when he had to. That's one of the toughest things for a QB to do. Plus he has all the intangibles. Delhomme is a natural leader, he's great under pressure, and he doesn't let mistakes get him down.

Delhomme is a guy who is tough on his teammates, but everyone loves him. He's serious about his job, but he enjoys the hell out of it, and that energy spreads to the other players. He's a firecracker too, he gets so excited on each play, and our guys love that about him. When he came in during the Jacksonville game at halftime and we were down by 17 he said to the offense, "get your ****in heads up, we're going to win the game!" He just spreads confidence to all the other guys. Not only does the offense not want to let him down, but the defensive players want to make sure they get him the ball back quick. Delhomme trusts his teammates and they trust him. He's not afraid to put a game on his shoulders, he's not afraid to take the blame for anything, and he's not afraid to get on to other players if they're not living up to their potential. The think I love most about Jake though is that he loves being put in the situation to have to lead a game tying or winning drive. We won 8 games by 3 points last year after having a 4th quarter tying or winning drive. Most of that is thanks to Jake.

And before anyone criticizes the Panthers for having a lot of close games, let me just say that I don't think that should be looked at as a bad thing, but rather as a good thing. The ability to win close games is something most teams aren't able to do all year long. We sure weren't able to win the close ones a couple of years ago, but a lot of things finally fell into place for us this past season. And just because we barely won a lot of our games doesn't mean we were struggling against those teams. Our offense wasn't designed to blow teams out. We used the running game to wear out the clock and opposing defenses, that's why so many of our games at similar results. The fact that we were winning games by close margins meant that our game plan was running smoothly. But I'll also say that this shouldn't be the case this season, because we'll be opening up the passing game more. We shouldn't have as many close games, but I won't mind if we do, because I love a great game. And I just love hearing "cardiac cats."

Our o-line is the biggest question mark on the team. But hey, QB was the biggest question mark going into last season and look how that turned out. Jordan Gross will play great at the LT position, Mitchell is great at center, and Adam Meadows will fit in perfectly at the RT position. But our guards are the men in question. Claridge is projected to start at the LG spot. He's a good player we picked up, but he's going to have to really step up his game like Jeno James did last year. The LG spot is key for many of our bread and butter plays that we run. Bruce Nelson should be starting at RG. We know he has the talent (drafted him in the 2nd round, he started at C for Iowa two seasons ago), but he has been injured for a few months now. We need to make sure he heals up and is ready to go. Brzenski or Reyes will back him up if he can't go at the start of the season though. I think our o-line will come together just like it did last year though.

As for our d-line? Best in the league. Also the best depth in the league. Julius Peppers at LE, Kris Jenkins at DT, Brentson Buckner at DT, and Mike Rucker at RE. Wow, do I have to say anything more? They're all young except for Buckner and are continually improving their game. The depth at DT consists of Shane Burton and Kendall Moorehead. Shane is a veteran and is a slower but more poweful version of Buckner. Moorehead is a rookie this year and is improving daily, he came up big in the last couple of games of the season. The depth at DE consists of Al Wallace and Kemp Rasmussen and Kavika Pittman. Al Wallace could start on almost any other D-line in the league. He is the backup for Peppers and comes up with huge plays every time Peppers needs a rest. Rasmussen comes up with big plays when he comes in too. Pittman was injured this past season, but he should be ready to go in preseason.

Our linebackers didn't perform as well as a whole last season as they did two seasons ago, but that's really only because of injuries. All is well now though. Sam Mills is still coaching and Mark Fields is suiting up for practices. Fields was our best LB in 2002, so that shows how important he is to this team. He was brought in by Jack Del Rio, and he wants to get back out there and prove he can still play at a high level. Dan Morgan has definitely been injury prone, but he's also very talented. It's obvious that our defense isn't quite the same without him. He brings a lot with his mind and body every week. He's the spark on our defense. Will Witherspoon is probably our most improved player on the entire team. He led the team in tackles and even becomes the MLB when Morgan is injured. He was our third round pick a year ago and he has played like a first rounder. He's extremely fast and is hella good at both run stopping and coverage. He's one of the most complete LB's we've ever had. We also picked up some good players. They are Brandon Short and Jessie Armstead. Short is young and talented, and Armstead brings the experience. Both will be solid and reliable backups all season.

Our secondary have always been picked on by the media and other players. However, once teams get on the field and play against them it's a different story. Our guys are very underrated. I'm not going to lie though, we probably won't be as good in the secondary as we were last year. The main reason is because of Deon Gran't departure. He was really becoming a great FS, and we just weren't able to resign him. He'll be missed. Colin Branch is the lead man to replace him right now, but the starting position will be fought for in preseason my Tillman and him. Neither are great players, but either will play adequately. Mike Minter will help out whoever earns the job though. He is an extremely talented veteran and is a top 10 safety in this league. Terry Cousin and Reggie Howard are both gone now too. Howard was starting and Cousing was playing nickel corner. We'll miss their competitiveness and everything else they bring, but I think we picked up a great man in Hawkins. We also have Shaw. Ricky Manning Jr. is clearly our best CB right now. He came on very strong at the end of the season and really made a name for himself. This is only going to be his second season, so I see a bright future ahead of him. Chris Gamble should be able to slide into the starting spot eventually this season, but either Hawkins or Shaw should start at the beginning of the season. We should learn a lot in preseason about Gamble though. That's where Manning Jr. really excelled last year.

One of the most important things on a football team is their special teams. Everyone always overlooks special teams. I mean look at us. The Panthers won many games last year by three points or less, and we wouldn't have one those games if we didn't have Kasay. The 49ers lost a lot of close one's just because they didn't have a reliable kicker. The NFL is such a close and competitve league that one good kicker can make the difference. The same goes for punters. If you don't have a good punter to get you out of a tight spot, then you're going to be in trouble. Todd Sauerbrun is one of the best in the league, and he has helped us out numerous times. The man is so good that we franchised him last season! And let's not forget about the other guys. Steve Smith and Rod Smart are among the best returners in the league. And Jarod Cooper and Smart are excellent runners. They usually wrap the return man up pretty quickly, or force him to fair catch. Plus we're also great at blocking kicks.

John Fox was arguably the best coach last season. He's arguably the best coach of the past two years. Look at what he's done - brought a 1-15 team to the Super Bowl in two seasons. He came in here with a plan, and that was to rebuild the defense. In 2002 he succeeded at that. And last offseason he set out, along with Hurney our GM, to rebuild the offense. With key acquisitions like Davis and Delhomme we did that. Now our team is complete once again, and ready to keep performing at a championship level.

Not one player on this team has ever doubted Fox since he came here. Everyone bought into his system and now it's really paying off for the team. Every guy works hard at practice and we have great chemistry on our team. A great shot I saw last year during the Eagles game at home was Steve Smith encouraging Kasay on the sidelines after his missed FG's. He was telling him to hang in there and giving him a pat on the back. Our guys want to win, they want to do it for themselves, the coaches, and us the fans. They go all out every week and play like they're in the superbowl. We finished 5-1 in the NFC South last season, after going 1-5 the year before, and I'm so proud of my team for doing that. The first step to having a successful year is being successful in your division. We need to continue playing hard and we'll win games.

I would just like to note that I think the Panthers have one of the best offenses in the league. If not for the balance, then for the explosiveness. We had more 40+ yard plays than the Colts did last season. You add that to a great defense, a great special teams, and a great coach and you have quite a football team. You also have a team that is very balanced as I've said. And that's why I think we'll be getting back to the super bowl next year. Because the other thing to remember is that we have a very young roster and these guys are going to be playing together for quite a while.

Looking through everything it's obvious that we've made a lot of changes in the past couple of years. And this season there are going to be changes as well. It's very appropriate that our stadium has also been renamed to Bank of America Stadium. It's also great that we get to play a home game to start off the season again, and on MNF. When Muhsin Muhammad came to Carolina he told Jerry Richardson that the Panthers would win a Super Bowl sometime in their first 10 years of existance. This season will be the 10th year of our existance, and we're ready to mike that final push to win the Super Bowl. We now have experience too.

Hey American_Guy. Thanks for that write-up on the Panthers. You really do seem like a dedicated fan. I admit, I wasn't a Panthers fan until their incredible season last year. I just hope they can put it all together again and start winning. But one thing that sucks for me and Panther fans around the country is that they don't nationally broadcast many of the games. They did the MNF game, which was cool, but I think their next national broadcast is in December against Atlanta. Meanwhile, it seems like there's a St Louis game on TV every week.

American_Guy
8th October 2004, 23:47
Yeah, I hate how the league gives some teams all the good games. Kansas City, St. Louis, and Green Bay all have atleast three MNF games. That's just not fair. Especially since they get MNF games every year. And besides this year, the last time the Panthers had a MNF game was in 2000 I think. The NFL really needs to rework the way they decide which games are nationally televised.

I believe it too.

oh btw...American guy?

The Panthers Will not win the Championship. As simple as that

Many teams look more equipped to win it all. New England for one, they lose Ted Washington...and, oh let's go 3-0 again! and they can set the all time record for the longest winning streak if they beat Miami tomorrow. and this is miami so that's win 19 in the bag.

Philly are looking literally On Fire (well not literally but ya know) McNabb now has Terrell Owens and he has more TD catches this season than all of the Eagles WR's had for the WHOLE of last season already!! Plus Brian Westbrook is looking really good too. Atlanta are 4-0 and as long as Vick is healthy, they'll just win Games.

Indianapolis are gunning them all down and teams like NYG are even 3-1 and looking kinda impressive, and Jacksonville's defence is like the Carolina one of last year. But basically, Steve Smith is basically out for the season and Jake Delhomme is just not in that great bracket...so many wild throws, two in particular against Atlanta. Davis is injured a lot and Foster though good, can't keep it going all the time and i can't see Carolina being much of a factor at all really. Sorry American guy, but i think that they have a bit to do before they can challenge again. Just look out for Jacksonville, they could be the sleeper of them all.

banishedbayou

I have serious doubts about Indianapolis. Peyton Manning has consistantly choked in big games. Philly has consisantly choked in the NFC championship but I think Terrell Owens was the missing link. I am going with Philly and New England.

You have a good point. I would possibly place him at #5. My top four will remain in the top four.

I still believe that Barry Sanders is the greatest running back of all time. No one did more with less. Barry played on some horrific teams and if he chose too he could have the all time leading rusher.

i really dunno man, i mean Emmitt is the all time leading Rusher, some say Jim Brown was the best ever but how can you leave Sanders off the number 1 spot? then i say...Payton as low as 3? so many conflicts here, you've given me a pleasant dilemma

Well I won't put Jim Brown at #1 because I feel he is a bit overrated. In Jim Browns last year he averaged 5.3 yds per carry. The next year a running back by the name of Leroy Kelly avg 5.5 yds per carry. Two out of the next three years after Jim Brown's departure Leroy Kelly lead the league in rushing. The browns running game didn't miss a beat. This is because the browns had an amazing offensive line. One of Jim Browns biggest strengths was his size and power. That was in the sixties when the avg footplayer was a lot smaller than they are today. I have serious doubts as to whether Jim Brown could be as effective now as he was in the sixties. Barry Sanders never had a great offensive line to run behind. The Detroit Lions were pretty much terrible most of the years he played, but he still shined as the nfl's premier running back.

I didn't put Emmitt at #1 because he played behind one of the most dominant offensive lines of all time. Barry Sanders could have been the all time leading rusher if he hadn't retired so early.

Walter Payton wasn't number 1 on my list because he played on some good bears teams.

As I stated earlier. Barry Sanders did more on bad teams than the other running backs did on good teams.

And btw...Ravens 5-3 without Todd Heap, Ogden for half the season, Jamal for 2 games...we are only gonna get better, watch out everyone else

hey anyone here think that Peyton Manning WILL beat both Marino's records of TD's and Yards in a Season? or just one of them? Or none at all??

Personally i think he'll beat the TD Mark of Marino...50 exactly would be nice

but then it's only cos he has 6 receivers of real quality, i think there are better QB's in the league than Manning (McNabb, Favre, Brady) but Manning's unbelievable receiving corps is the main reason for his huge yardage.

Harrison, Wayne, Stokely, Pollard, Clark, and Edge James great hands from RB....surely that's a huge reason, anyone disagree?? i want some discussion here?

What about Terrell Owens's antics over the last few weeks and Monday night as well??

Well, Carolina beat New Orleans to make it 4 wins in a row. In the weak NFC, they've still got a decent chance of making the playoffs, even with a sub .500 record of 5-7.

And Sean, the Ravens lost at home.... to the Bengals! Shameful! :P

Moco
7th December 2004, 21:24
Heh, that was an exciting game though. But I have to admit that the Seahawks should've won because that touchdown by Keyshawn Johnson shouldn't have counted. He only got one foot down before going out of bounds. The play should've gone to instant replay but amazingly it didn't. Still, that's no excuse for letting the Cowboys back in the game with so little time left.

tern
7th December 2004, 21:29
I know, the replay booth really coughed that one up. It's the second time they've given up a 2 possession lead with less than half a quarter to go this year. Other time was first game against Rams, that was pathetic.

can u believe that??? 27-26??

allowing 27 against Cincy? ok well Cincy have a pretty wicked offense now and Chad Johnson is the 3rd leading receiver in yards this year and people said he was having a bad season, but with Kelley washington making plays and T.J. Houshmanzadeh making 10 grabs too on Sunday...blah, still how can the d let up 27? They only scored 26 cos of D and Special teams. 8)

I guess you guys totally forgot or overlooked that keyshawn was being pushed out of bounds before he landed. In that case it still counts as him landing in bounds... It still would have been a touchdown.

I have to give it to the rookie Julius Jones. He had 30 carries for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns. That was his second straight game with over 150+ yards rushing.

Well, the regular season is over and the playoffs are about to begin. Here's how it looks:

AFC

Denver @ Indianapolis
N.Y. Jets @ San Diego
1st Round Bye: New England & Pittsburgh

NFC

St. Louis @ Seattle
Minnesota @ Green Bay
1st Round Bye: Atlanta & Philadelphia

The AFC is going to be really interesting. I believe Indy, San Diego, New England & Pittsburgh all have a legit shot at winning the AFC title and then the Superbowl, though I'm rooting for San Diego because of the southern California connection. :P

The NFC is such a tossup and I don't even think it matters who goes to the Superbowl from that conference especially now that Terrel Owens is out for Philadelphia. It's hard to tell how they can play without him since they basically rested their starters the past 2 weeks. That said, Atlanta may be the only threat out of the NFC, but again, the champ is going to come out of the AFC.

12th January 2005, 05:06
Heh, the very last play was like a microcosm of the Seahawk's season. Dropped passes. It's a shame that they didn't even throw to Jerry Rice that game. Sure, he made a good decoy on a few plays, but you gotta throw him the ball sometime! Why else would you acquire him in a trade mid-season?

Anyone catch Randy Moss's touchdown celebration in Green Bay? I don't see what the big fuss is and the media is acting like what he did is the end of the world. Big deal...so he fake mooned the crowd. The people in Green Bay do it for real every time the opposing team loses.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to New England vs Indy. Should be a great game! If anyone can stop Petyon Manning, it might be the Patriots.

That's pretty crazy for someone who hasn't even played a game in the NFL. I guess I find it strange how in the NFL, really high draft picks will be given a HUGE contract without proving themselves on the field. As opposed to the NBA, there's a limit to the length and size of a rookie contract that gives teams the ability to see what their young players are capable of, and if they think they're worth it, will resign them to a big contract when their rookie contract is over. It's great for avoiding situations like the San Diego Chargers have with Phillip Rivers. He's got something like a $40 million contract, yet he's playing behind Drew Brees. Granted, Drew's sudden emergence as a top quarterback was somewhat of a surprise. But then they weren't able to give him a good contract, and instead franchised him because they're already paying Rivers a whole lot of money.

Yeah, but hes really good, and the 49ers are known to pick really good quarterbacks, steve young, joe montana, NOT jef garcia, he messed up big time.[

Jaycubed
28th July 2005, 22:13
Well, not exactly, Garcia wasn't exactly a flop if you compare him to Dorsey and co last season, i mean, at least under Garcia the team was competitive. You might see just how good Garcia did when you see Smith flounder this season with Brandon Lloyd as his go to guy. Though, in time Smith will be pivotal to their success, he really has potential.

Anyway predictions...Well seeing as Tedy Bruschi is out for the season for the Pats, we'll see just how much they miss him as the season rolls along, and even with Charlie Weiss and Romeo Crennel leaving for pastures new, they're the team to beat.

even so, look for the Ravens this year, Upgrades in offence with Derrick mason and their no.1 drafted WR, name escapeds me for the second, clayton? maybe, anyway...i think with those weapons along with big Clarence Moore in the redzone, it's a time to see just how efficient kyle Boller can be, hopefully with a more in tune Jamal Lewis back at HB. On Defense they've signed Samari Rolle and not lost anyone else, so they're only gonna be better, look for them to be so hard to beat.

But same old up top i think, though both the Raiders and the Vikings ended up benefitting from the Moss trade, with the Raiders now having an explosive offence with Lamont Jordan at RB and Moss and Porter etc...and the Vikes having a hugely upgraded defence and drafting Troy Williamson to replace moss too...i think both can put themselves in the playoff picture, but the Vikings to be dark horses.

It's especially strange because NFL players are even less likely than NBA players to turn out as a great professional player and also get injured easier (and sometimes carreer-ending early on). It just seems like too much of a gamble to me. Since the teams are so huge in football and so many players (not the starters, obviously) are walk-ons, the whole salary thing has always confused me.

the Chargers jersey is mine, i asked for one when my uncle went to America at Christmas, in fact i asked for a Vikes shirt with Moss on...SO luckily, they were sold out, how much of a lemon i would have felt like when he got traded.

And it has Tomlinson on the back of course, cos LT is the real deal, he seriously doesn't have a weak point in his game from my perspective.

And Tamer, not liking American football is a big no no! :P It's an awesome game, of the mind mostly, but it also takes superb athletic ability and strength, it's a show, and an amazing one at that.

Back to the Jersey though, if i could have had any, i probably would have got a Ravens one with Reed on the back, that Guy can PLAY

Congratulations to the Steelers, but there were some pretty bad calls by the refs that went against Seattle. There were at least 3 penalties called that were phantom calls. But the Seahawks really didn't help themselves with bad clock management at the end of both halves. At least the Bus goes out on top, so I'm happy for him.

the 40th Superbowl... yeah sure...

How did they came up with that name?
Well, I assume that since the college football season ends with a series of "bowl" games (ex, The Rose Bowl, the Orange Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl, etc...), they decided that since the NFL is supposed to be the cream of the crop, they wanted their "bowl" to be, well, super.

Bad calls is an understatement. I think someone should be monitoring the ref's bank accounts. :)

I also like the neutral crowd. Was it 90/10 Steelers' crowd or was it just my imagination?

I had the Seahawks by 6 points. :(

No, the game was in Detroit. Super Bowls are always played in a predetermined site, and teams rarely ever play in their own stadium for the game (actually I don't even know if that has ever happened). It just so happens that Pittsburgh is a lot closer to Detroit than Seattle is, so more Steelers fans were able to make the trip. And the Steelers are probably more popular anways, so it might not have made much difference.

Super Bowl got its name from the popular Super Ball back in the 1960s. It was a name introduced by Kansas City Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt, then the head of the AFL(a seperate, new, and competing football league with the NFL). He reportedly named it the Super Bowl after he saw his grand daughter playing with this Super Ball.

Originally. Super Bowl was a match of the best teams of their respective Leagues (AFL vs. NFL) to decide who would be the ultimate champion. After the 1970 AFL-NFL merger (under which the combo league became today's NFL), AFL was changed to AFC and the "old NFL" to NFC (American Football Conference & National Football Conference).

The Germans do. I think all but one of the nine or so NFL Europe teams are in Germany, the last is just across the border in the Netherlands. I've seen part of a game on TV. All the teams have players with little logos on their helmet or jersey saying what NFL team they are contracted to.

I kind of forget about posting about the NFL Draft with the NBA Playoffs on my mind. But what do you guys think about the Texans drafting Mario Williams instead of Reggie Bush (or even Vince Young)? Personally, I think they made a huge mistake. You just don't pass on a talent like Bush that only come around every decade or so. Some writers have made the comparison to the 1985 (or is it '84) NBA Draft when Sam Bowie was drafted by Portland ahead of Michael Jordan because they needed a center. We all know how that turned out.

It's all about the Chargers. LaDanian Tomlinson is unstoppable, Phillip Rivers is playing like a seasoned vet, and Shawne Merriman gives opposing quarterbacks nightmares. Right now, it's hard to say any other team is playing as well as the Chargers and they may even take first place in the AFC if the Colts keep losing. I'm not saying they'll win the Superbowl (don't want to jinx them ) but they look really awesome. And that's in the vastly superior AFC.

The NFC looks so bad that a couple of .500 teams might even make the playoffs. The Bears were the best team earlier in the year, but their QB Rex Grossman has been absolutely horrible lately. Luckily their defense and special teams can win them games. But they can't win it all without a semblance of some offense.

the old pats? what do you mean not like the old pats? The pats were never the best in terms of raw talent, but they know how to win big games. They upset the Rams when the Rams were heavy favorites. They beat Philly when Philly had more overall talent. As long as the Patriots stick to Belichek's plan and Brady keeps cool the Pats will be fine. Gaffney is turning into a quality wide receiver as well, plus Harrison might be back soon.

Their defense also deserves a lot of credit especially with those 2 key interceptions.

Barry Sanders also retired very young, and still nobody has ever had the vision or elusiveness of Barry(not even Walter).

The only reason they're bigger and, in some cases, faster is because players today have the time in off-season to train and condition themselves. Old school players weren't paid nearly as much(Deacon Jones--one of the best DEs ever--- had to work oddjobs during the offseason). Additionally, players today are bred to be bigger starting at high school or pre-high school. That said, I'm predicting SD to win it(cant believe they lost in the playoffs last year or that the colts won it all). Besides, how can you say a player is best all time? At most, best at his position but even thats difficult to rate.

To say someone's the best player of all time is just one man's opinion. I don't think any stats or arguments could definitively prove that a given player is the best of all time. Trying to convince each other otherwise would be pointless. Let's just say there are players and there are great players. And I think we can all agree that LT is one of those great players.

lol barry sander's records are broke bud.

and damn right he is easily the best player right now and of all time, the game is bigger and faster now, so if hes doing this great now imagine what he'd do to past competition.

Barry Sanders didn't play that long ago. If someone had said Jim Brown it would be a different story.
