NEW Alizée VOCAL EXTRACTS!!
Wanna hear more of Alizée than the music?......
I created two new Alizée vocal extracts, L'Alize and Gourmandises. I tried J'en ai marre but it didn't work at all - the instrumental version is too different than the normal version. In order for this to work, the song has to be released literally from the studio with and without vocals, they must be exactly identical in every way except for the vocals.
L'Alizé starts out excellent, I mean there is almost nothing but Alizée - but then kind of falls apart at the end. The two files I used eventually get out of synch by a few milliseconds at the end - but the beginning is worth it, you have got to hear this!!

Gourmandises turned out great....quite amazing!! You can hear some tiny little things she is doing vocally that I haven't picked up in the >100,000 times I have heard the song (especially in the backup parts "do-do-dodo").

The are both on my FTP.

Thanks, Akuma.
The process is something like this: in multi-track editing software (I use Adobe Audition a.k.a. Cool Edit) combine the vocal and instrumental versions of the song out-of-phase with one another, process through a bandpass filter tuned to the vocal range, then process througha center channel extractor. No single process works for every song thus it must be fine-tuned for each one. (aren't you glad you asked? :D )
I am currently working on Parler tout bas and J'en ai marre !.....Stay tuned!!

Hi om3n,
thank you for the link.
I´m a little bit too late, here is no other data instead of a zip-file
of a ftp-prog setup.
But thank you anyway for help.

I'm sorry to resurrect such a long dead thread... but I was wondering if it was possible for anyone to upload these into their DC++ shared folder, I've been looking for them on DC++ for awhile now, nobody seems to have them, and if I try to log on (Even with the ftp://ajuser------- link) it either says can't log on with username/password or user ajuser can't log on.. Thanks to anyone who can help, and sorry again for bringing back such a long gone thread.
EDIT: Just realized.. I won't be able to get on until around 8:00 AM EST tomorrow morning, so take your time. (I think that's around 3:00 PM for this forum time)

this song, is her voice echo'ed on purpose, to make it sound better after toning down the instruments? or is it the way the song really is, but you don't hear it too good because of instruments?
i'd upload it for those of you who don't have it, but i don't know where you'd do those kinda things :)

Adding echo or reverb to a singer's voice in a song is common practice to make it sound better. So I doubt Wolfman added artificial reverb to his file after he separated the voice from the music. And if you listen hard enough to the original song (a good pair of headphones would help) you can hear the reverb there too.

my headset costs 25 bucks :) anyway, ty, i didn't know it was a common "cheat" =) makes me like wolfman's version even more tho :)
Moco
3rd February 2007, 22:45
It's not really cheating though. It's just like simulating the ambience of a concert hall if a singer were really singing in one. Since most voice recording for albums is done in a studio, obviously if they want to add reverb, they need to do it artificially.
The real cheating happens when a singer can't really sing and the audio technicians have to fix or manipulate the singer's voice (pitch, tempo, etc...) to make it sound decent.

might be.
eitherway, i think it's just a little bit awesome with the echo. nice little touch to the song that i've never really thought all that much about before =)
