Yeah, the champions league is great! Always i follow English teams ofc.. exept Arsenal. I would normally follow my home town team Newcastle utd... but this year, ill be rooting for Manchester utd! ... thnx for posting the groups!!

wow Rosenborg.. i remember those when Blackburn beat them 3-0. great game that was, and 2 of the blackburn players started to throw punches at eachother during the game. Le saux and Batty.. was a crazy match! =) i can't wait now

Ajax - Juventus is the prime example that football has a lot to do with luck!!!

I agree that pavel nedved's goal was a beauty but other than that Juventus hasn't shown shit!

Ajax put a lot of pressure on juve from the start and that resulted in a great shot by Weasel (Wesley Sonck for the non-ajax-slang-speaking-people ) that hit the bar.... if luck was on our side that shot would've gone in and juve would've had a difficult time ahead of 'em.... down a goal after two mins.....

I do admit that after ten minutes juve controlled the match and ajax didn't show much anymore, but hey, juve has a lot more experience than us... the average age of our team is only 20! where for juve there are a lot of older players, who have more experience.... still, with juve controlling they still didn't show much till the 42nd minute when pavel nedved made the goal..... to be honest pavel was playing shit yesterday....

Before he scored, he got frustrated coz he couldn't overrun his opponent.... ajax had him pinned most of the time and the only thing pavel could do was fall down.... not all the time though, but most of the time when he fell he was faking it and if not faking then he just stayed on the ground to gain some seconds.... pathetic... at a time he fell down and needed help from the magical canister  and he was grabbing his ass all the time to show he was in pain... , then he scored, didn't grab his ass, and after the goal he grabbed his ass again... if he was in that much pain he wouldn't have been able to make that goal at all... it was all just acting, the entire game his ass hurts but at that time it didn't???? yeah right, but but but a beauty of a goal nonetheless

In the second half, Ajax dominated once again... Juve lost a lot of duels on the midfield coz of which Ajax could counter in a few seconds and they got some rather big chances as well... the biggest one probably being the breakthrough of Nicolae Mitea (who hasn't played a single second for ajax this season, and now all of a sudden playing like a god! which deserves a bit of recognition as well) on the left, passing it to Van Der Vaart, who flicked it with his heel to upcoming Pienaar who just came an inch to short to push it in goal after which Cannavaro could clear the ball..... a few minutes later similar chance this time van der vaart came an inch to short to push it in.... and a few more chances....

Like i said, it all had to do with luck... Juve had the luck on their side.... True juve normally is a stronger team than Ajax but not yesterday, yesterday they won coz of luck... if we had luck on our side, Sonck's shot in the second minute wouldn't have hit the bar but it would be a goal, and pienaar and van der vaart would have pushed the ball in goal

Another thing ppl were talking to me about was Zlatan Ibrahimovic.... one of Ajax finest who swapped Ajax for Juventus.... true he is a magnificent player but not against Ajax and it showed, he only got one chance in the entire match and that is low for a striker with his capabilities. Why didn't he play so well, it's easy to explain. He played for Ajax only two weeks ago.... We know him to the bone, his way of playing the game, our defenders have trained with him so they know how to make sure he can't break through on the field.... And we used that knowledge... we had him pinned as well

Ajax - Juve, the better team lost, and true, i am a fan of Ajax so of course i defend my team but everyone knows it's the way it is.... Juve had the luck and Ajax didn't simple as that

Well...Manchester United, what can i say, first half....possibly the worst 45 mins of Red devil football ever, went 2-0 down to some nice play from Lyon but a bad mistake by Tim Howard again, and a nice piece of counter attacking with help from static Man U defence. Second half was better...though Djemba-Djemba continued to play the worst game of his career. Ronaldo and Giggs switches sides and it worked well, then this kicked Ruud into gear and he slotted home two typical RVN finishes. 2-2 was probably a deserved result, wish i could have been there but i'll be there for the home game! :P

Good to see Pavel doing the business still too! 8) the most classy of classy players, and also i think the Kiev goal was pretty magical too...i think there is enough eveidence there for UEFA to award the points to Kiev as it's obviously a Roma fan who threw the object, and Roma were trailing and a man down, Kiev deserve that, as did Leverkusen and well...Man U have drawn in their hardest game of the group, hopefully after another couple of weeks in my Journalism course i'll be able to give Ruud a call and see what he thought about it!

alizee_no1_fanuk
16th September 2004, 22:40
hey jaycubed i watched that game last night, man they were awful, but as usual they picked up the pace and i thought they deserved there draw, super Ruud was outstanding again, took a while to fire up,but when he got going looked good, now we all await wayne rooney's first game, when will that be by the way??oh....and its nice to be back on the forum, had a few things going on,but all is ok again.

Today, there will be a new matchday at the Champions with the following matches:

Mónaco-Deportivo (Mar. 20:45) Olympiacos-Liverpool (Mar. 20:45)
D. Kiev-B. Leverkusen (Mar. 20:45) Real Madrid-Roma (Mar. 20:45)
Bayern Munich-Ajax (Mar. 20:45) Juventus-M. Tel Aviv (Mar. 20:45)
M. United-Fenerbahce (Mar. 20:45) S. Praga-O. Lyon (Mar. 20:45)

There are some matches really interesting, like Real Madrid- Roma, with two teams in crisis (the team which loses will suffer a great blow... both teams have a new coach)... Monaco - Depor (we still remember the strange match of last year (8-3)... Bayern-Ajax (a great match between two big european teams), and the matches of Juventus and M.United, which shouldn't have a lot of problems to defeat Tel Aviv and Fenerbahce. Leverkusen is unable to do anything right ever since they crushed Real (bad results at german league). Liverpool has a tough game in Greece, but they should also win. Lyon is also favourite in Praha.

i'm sorry but what Rooney does off the pitch doesn't change how amazing he is and ok he cheated and stuff but then his gf isn't as squeaky clean as people think...i should know rememer David! she stole money off me!!

and also Henry is a totally amazing player...but Rooney at 18 is light years ahead of what Henry was at Monaco at 18. And if Rooney does what he is doing now for the next 5 years...he'll be the best player in the world by a mile...He's the new Maradona! it's easy to see....as long as he doesn't go off the rails he'll rule the world, he's one of those players, who just is, naturally godly. (and i'm a member of the same health club as him :P )

as for the NFL like Joseph mentioned...i love it, Football and American footbal both rule

to answer your question...America in 'Soccer' are in the top ten in the world Rankings but they aren't as good as that, the ranking system is a little screwed, they aren't bad, but they aren't top 10. Though they have a 15 year old Kid called Freddy Adu who just might become one of the greatest players in the world...plays for DC United at the moment...keep an eye on him!!

Mexico aren't too bad, though they've been quiet for some years, easily gonna make it to the world Cup in....

Germany in 2006, Germany have major probs though, they aren't anything like the solid classy sides of the past, and they are gonna have to build a team round Michael Ballack in two years or they are gonna fail badly, having said that, they always manage to win somehow...

Switzerland are ok...they are top of their world cup qualifying group but a long way to go and they are doing nicely, exceeding expectations again

A.C. Ajaccio...i'm sure Ajaccien will tell us all in more detail but they are struggling in France's ligue 1...they were always gonna stuggle this season but a change of coach has seen an upturn in form for them, let's hope they can survive like they just did last season

Happy now???

Rooney is just teenager now..he need a time to improve his skill..so..maybe he will be a great player in next 2-3 years..i guess..but for me..i choose zinedine zidane for my favourite and great player..

Rooney is young yes.. but he can never be in the same league as Zidane, Shearer ect.. Look at Owen.. i remember seeing his first ever England under16s.. he was "AMAZING".. no other words can describe his peformance against Brasil in that game. I seen lots more games from then on.. every game he was the star of the show. At 18 He played his first Liverpool game and was fantastic. Weeks later every monday night football ( Sean will know what i am talking about when i say Andy Grey, Richard keys ) they used to talk about how to stop Owen. He was running rings around defenders in the Premiership. 2 seasons ago .. he wasnt much good for liverpool.. he didnt score for like 9 games on streak. (ok every player goes through this crises sometime) but this happend to Owen more n more. Last season was very poor for him. Now he has moved from Liverpool, and i have to say imo.. he is No way the same player he was..

Goes to show getting older you can actually get worse. I like Owen alot though, i hope he gets to be the killer player he was when he was at Liverpool seasons ago. I knew if he was 1 on 1 with the keeper, its a goal. Now.. i bet he would miss .. as ive seen so many times lately.

As for Rooney.. where is his skill? I mean, hes what 18/19? he doesnt even celebrate... come on you plumb!! You need to celebrate its the best years of your life for christ sake.

:? he celebrated three times against fenerbache as far as i know, its not really as important as scoring goals anyway is it?

DavidAlizée
3rd October 2004, 15:48
ive never seen him celebrate. Yes, ofc it is as important.. Scoaring a goal infont of thousands of people.. its an amazing feeling. He should be jumping with joy!!!

ok then you dont seem to know how much can injuries affect on the playing...
and how hard it is to get on the good streak after an injury

and last season... 16 goals... in the premier... i wouldnt say that it was a bad result....
yes i know he could've been better, but it also depends so much on the other players and tactics ....
he wasnt served as good as he was earlier
it's a teamplay you know. heh.

mmm, yeah. I forgot about the injury he had. Shame though.. if he never had that injury.. he could have been one of the best in the world.

not just one injury... a lot of injuries and it's truly shame yeah

a.c. ajaccio
3rd October 2004, 21:33
I don't think he's the type of player who would try to blame his bad form on injuries, if players have enough determination they can recover and still be as good - look at Ronaldo, he had two injuries (both worse than Owens) and he's recovered and scored 30+ goals last season.

What has he done this season....nothing yet in 5 games.
(tho neither has Owen...heh...bad for Real)

but there was a better player material helping him in Real
to reach those goal amounts.

......he was still playing in (arguably) the best league in the world against world class defenders, and he's scored consistently in the champions league so i don't see how you can doubt his current ability  . And judging a player based on the first five games of a season is just silly.

hmm...i wasnt doubting his skills... i was just comparing their (Owen and Ronaldo) situation....
no player does those goals without the help of
the teammates... teamplay, you know.

too strong CHELSEA!Well, perhaps you do not know. The key point here is that both Chelsea and CSKA are somehow Abramovich's teams!!! It means that it would be very silly of him if Chelsea will not lose or draw at least. Besides Chelsea is gonna be on top of the group H anyway.
