After taking her first steps onstage at the Olympia last August, Alizée went on tour throughout France, Switzerland, and Belgium, before triumphing at the Zénith in Paris.
All of Alizée's emotions and freshness are found in the DVD "Alizée en concert", the concert in its entirety with bonus backstage footage from the shooting of L'Alizé and JEAM as well as previously unreleased images from her promotional trip to Japan, and concert rehearsals.
This program benefits from an exceptional technical quality. It's one of the first live DVDs filmed in High Definition. The editing and the finishing touches required 5 months of work. In addition to stereo sound, the sound configuration will have 5.1 dolby digital and DTS.

I can't say i "love" the cover.. but wow, this is amazing news, i can't wait.. also i am pleased with the cd too. It sounds like a fantastic dvd. The biggest thing this dvd is going to do, is make thoses fans who have forgot the name "Alizée" and bring them back. This will be a huge hit to fans all across Europe. The united states of course as well. This will bring her name back in the press again, in the "limelight" so to speak. Hope this is the start of a great future of upcoming events! Nice find BackinBlack =) !!

Wow! Sounds so damn pro. I'm so glad they really put alot of efford into it. But I must say it's not the best concert pic for the cover. It might give the wrong impression, if people think she's jumping the whole time like a heavy metal concert. They should have chosen a more sweeter, cuter pic to show her true form.

26th August 2004, 21:41
Hehe, don't worry mot. I don't think people will mistake Alizée for a heavy metal singer, especially with that outfit she's wearing. :P
This is so great! But October seems so far away. I don't know how I can wait! And I'm glad that the DVD will (apparently) be region-free. That'll save me some cash on buying a program to bypass region coding.

I'm just surprised that they sent the single to the radio stations about 2 months before the live album is released. Realistically I wouldn't expect to hear it on the radio more than 3 or 4 weeks before the release. Is it just speculation on Cristelle's part that it'll be playing by the end of the week, or is there some concrete evidence of this?
EDIT: Actually, I just read on the Alliance that RTL just received the single this morning. But they won't have a programming meeting until September 6th, when they'll decide when to start playing the song. Thanks to Nico1670 for that bit of news.

In the past, PTB sold also less than the other more catchier songs of Alizée. Oh well, we'll see.

"Innamoramento" was the 5th single from the album Innamoramento. It didn't have any promotion except for a lot of radio rotation, and it sold around 100,000 copies, a little less than average compared to the rest of her singles. But "Dessine-moi un mouton" was actually the single used to promote the concert DVD, and it sold around 80,000 copies (no TV appearances either).

How much less did PTB sell? Of the Gourmandises singles, I certainly liked it more than the title track... and it has by far my favorite video clip. You'd think that I wouldn't be the only one to have that opinion, no?

I totally agree with you guys. The first 3 songs ive heard from Alizee was Moi Lolita, Gourmandises, and Jen Ai Marre. Those were three great catchy upbeat songs that i still love listening too, but when I heard PTB, it struck a whole new chord with me and made me appreciate Alizee and MF/LB's music on a whole new level.
It is so haunting and beautifully melodic; it draws me in and compells me to sing with it. I don't remember one time where ive listend to that song and atleast not try to sing along or lip the chorus.
Sing it with me!...

It was said earlier, that it will be supported by all codecs (regional free) or something like that.

Well actually it's not really clear whether or not the DVD will be region-free. It looks like it says so on the promo image with all those details, but the text was very small, so it's kind of hard to make out. Meanwhile, amazon.fr and fnac.com are saying it's Region 2. So I'm still not sure, but I'd rather trust the promo.
Another important thing to keep in mind, regardless of whether or not it is region-free, is the fact that the DVD will be in PAL format. If you live in Europe, you're fine. But if you live in the US, where NTSC is the television standard, you won't be able to play it in your DVD player unless it can read PAL DVD's and has a converter to change the signal from PAL to NTSC for your TV.
Now to avoid all these problems, any DVD-ROM drive should be able to read either PAL or NTSC. There are also programs that let you change the region setting for your DVD drive, such as AnyDVD and DVD Region-Free.
squeaky ladida
7th September 2004, 00:02
oh believe me, i've tried to change many a DVD from PAL to NTSC, and it either takes forever or fails
but there is good news
there are many dvd players that are "all playing", that play jpgs, all regions, PAL and NTSC, etc
I got one from a local Best Buy for 40 USD, and it played Une Fee Nommee fine wheres my other dvd player and my ps2 weren't able to do so
but computers all ways in in the end =P
but those all playing dvd players i say are easily worth the money, as they can even play videos put on storage cds and stuff
Moco
7th September 2004, 00:38
Hmm, I didn't know Best Buy sold those types of DVD players. I always thought they were only sold online (or at least not at major retail stores). I guess next time I'm at the local Best Buy, I'll have to take a look.

Thanks for the info, squeaky. You're right, it really does play everything, although you need to "unlock" it in order to get it to play discs from other regions. But that's not much of a problem if you know where to look.
I'm just very wary of it's long-term quality. I've read a lot of reviews of that player and other DVD players by Cyberhome on Amazon.com, and the majority of them say that the player stopped working after a period of time ranging from a few weeks to a few months. Many of the problems were just due to the fact that the player just wouldn't be able to play discs anymore, or wouldn't turn on anymore and they couldn't get their discs out of it. But I saw one review that said it literally exploded. Sure it's only $40, but you'd expect a DVD player to last at least a few years.
So let me ask you: how long have you had that particulary player and have you had any problems with it?
squeaky ladida
9th September 2004, 03:18
i've had it for many months now and no problems....
and i didn't need to do anything as far as unlocking is concerned...
i just burned my Fee Nommee DVD, tried it on my main dvd player and my ps2 and it didn't work... put it in this 40 USD player just for kicks, and it worked
and all was good
i got it over half a year ago and it's played many a dvd, VCD, storage CD, and music disc with no problems
but if you're wary, i'm sure there are more durable dvd players that can play everything out there, doubt you can get any for 40 USD though
Moco
9th September 2004, 04:52
I'm glad to hear it still works after all this time. $40 really isn't all that much money and for a DVD player that does all that, it's a bargain. But I can't ignore all those negative reviews. So I'm kind of torn... You are right about not being able to find other similar players for such a low price though. Normally, I've seen them go for about $250 and up.
And the reason why your "Fée nommée..." DVD probably worked without any unlocking is because it's Region Free to begin with. And it probably didn't work in your main player and PS2 because they might not be able to play PAL discs. Just guessing.
squeaky ladida
10th September 2004, 05:04
^i already did the analysis, you're absolutely right
my PS2 is NTSC formatted, that's why it didn't work on my ps2 and worked on a PS2 of a european counterpart of mine
this dvd player has played plenty of dvds that were the right format but still wouldn't play on other players though
with 40 dollars, you could replace it every 6 months and it would still be 3 years before you reached 240 USD
Moco
10th September 2004, 06:51
with 40 dollars, you could replace it every 6 months and it would still be 3 years before you reached 240 USD
Heh, that's one way to look at it. I actually went over to Best Buy earlier today and found a bunch of those DVD players for $40 minus a $10 instant rebate (I think that's what it was). I didn't buy it, but now that you said what you did, I'm thinking maybe I should've gotten one.
It's funny too, that a 1-year part replacement plan costs $30... might as well just buy another player.

News from Cors'Alizée mentions that on October 16th, the show Plus Vite Que La Musique will air a special segment about Alizée. Here's a translation of what's on Cristelle's site:
A report will be aired on the show "Plus vite que la musiqe" which will be a "girls special". Here is a little summary about Alizée: It was a hit: "Moi, Lolita" by Alizée. Was she as fleeting as a gust of wind? Still is it that Alizée, young singer revealed on "Graines de stars", had already left her mark in the little world of French music. The result of a coquettish hit song, "Moi, Lolita", released in 2000 and concocted by the tandem of Mylène Farmer/Laurent Boutonnat, in the spirit of their own mischievous deliriums. More than a hit, a tidal wave, which Plus Vite Que La Musiqe remembers.

Estéban, where's your sig picture from? Alizée looks like she's doing sit up or something....? Don't think I've ever seen that picture before.

It's from a 2002 photo shoot vid you can find floating around the net (my copy's named "Alizée - 2002-xx-xx - Misc - Photo shoot.mov")... the thing in front of her is a bounce board for light.

Can anyone recommend a good source for Alizée interview files?
Looking through my collection of all things Alizée I seem to be lacking in interviews coz I tend to concentrate more on getting live performances.

This short clip is pretty old. Originally this clip was available in Alizée Diary on her old site (Gone now). Remember that diary? Its a shame the news site doesn't have one. And if it was, it would never get updated... :?

Man, I wish I was around when they still had the diary. Is that where the Alizée in Moscow montage comes from too? The way it's edited is similar to the editing in the photoshoot video.

That would be really excellent, sorry to go back on the topic like this but really...if anyone can be ready to record this just in case, i'm sure many of us would be really greatful, and it's nice to hear stuff like this Moco, that Alizée is still being thought about and that she'll get her time on tv again, even if she isn't currently promoting
