View Full Version : Alizee's Secret...

As I was browsing through my seemingly endless supply of Alizee videos the other day and I stumbled across something that has cut me deeper than any knife could possibly achieve. While watching the “La Isla Bonita” video I started to notice something peculiar about the way her lips were moving along with the music. However, I was still not convinced of the thoughts that had began to pierce my mind like daggers being shoved through my eyeballs. However, after closely watching the last few seconds of the video, my greatest fear was solidified. Alizee was lip-syncing the whole thing. If you closely watch the last phrase she says in the song, her lips have stopped moving and her head is moving from left to right, but not unlike dark magic her voice is still singing the last note of the song.
After this horrible, life-altering discovery I went on to analyze other videos and noticed similar, but not as obvious signs that she was lip-syncing. In the j'ai pas 20 ans (Live tour de france) video, in one part she is singing the chorus, then starts to sing the back up, and then goes back to the chorus. But the catch is that the two lines fleetingly overlap. Unless someone can prove to me that she can sing two notes at once, I can find no reason to continue living my now worthless life. I would post more examples of this devastating issue but I’m afraid I’m far too depressed to continue typing.
Someone please give me a reason to live. Please.

Uh... yeah... that's how things work on TV apperances in Europe. Everyone does it. I'm a big Iron Maiden fan, and they are notorious for messing around with this convention (changing instruments - and even singers - mid-song... they even demanded to play live on Top of the Pops once: something almost never done).
But Alizée can sing. On tour its 100% live. Moi... Lolita on Top of the Pops Italy seems to be live for some reason too.
Oh, and not to sound mean or anything - but this had been brought up before. You should check past posts. Maybe a Mod could lock this thread now?

^^ oh ok
Well that's gay. What the fuck's the point of the performance then. Damn Europeans.
Sorry bout the repost. Lock away...
Edit: You sure about the singing live thing?

No problem. Yeah, I don't much like it either, but its the way things are...
We'll have the concert DVD soon, hopefully - providing us with plenty of LIVE Alizée goodness.

^^ Solid.
It pisses me off when singers that don't write their own music dare to lip-sync. But if they're going to put a gun to her head then... I guess she's gotta do what she's gotta do.

Mmm, yeah, I get that... I'd love if Alizée could write a song or two on her next album as well (but that's a another discussion - one I've already received plenty of heat from).
In the meantime, check out that Italy video to hear what she really sounds like. Granted, she can't sing as perfect as the canned audio on the majority of clips, but she is very talented nonetheless. There are also many concert bootlegs available, and other miscellaneous snippets where you can hear her singing live (Moi... Lolita at Eurobest, J'en ai marre in Stars a Domicile 2003, etc.).

Just be glad she sings live in concert like a true artist. Some French singers even lip-sync some songs in their concerts. But for her and Mylène Farmer, lip-syncing in concert was out of the question.

Even when she is lip-syncing its a pleasure to see her perform. We all know she can sing.

"Alizée's secret" ... hahaha, i love newbies who think they've discovered something big.
Btw,
Damn Europeans.
Thats an extremly not-cool thing to say in a forum wich is owned by a european, dedicated to a european singer.
Anyway, Alizée can sing. Her fans know that and are not questioning about it. So whats the big deal if She saves Her voice for more important occasions.
Just because there is a tradition-difference between usa and europe, it is not a reason to be so upset.

Just because it's accepted doesn't make it cool. It's still equally gay as when I posted it the first time.

So my post count tells me...
What the fuck's the point of the performance then]
Even when she is lip-syncing its a pleasure to see her perform. We all know she can sing.
Pleasure to see her perform, as in stand there and look cute? Hell, there are thousands of chicks at my college that do that on a daily basis. No need to give them millions of dollars/Euros to do so. My reason for listening to music is not to have comfort knowing that there are people in the world that can sing. It's to HEAR their talent. There are millions of talented people in the world. So should we all just be content with them sitting on their couches watching South Park eating Doritos?
it is not a reason to be so upset
Not upset. Just discussing 8)

My apologies go out to the owner of this site and any other non-gay Europeans. No offense intended. Just venting some frustration.

No... It was more to get people to click on the thread.
[/rant] Just clarifying any misunderstandings/misinterpretations.

I skipped over this post. Hmm... Yes I guess holding true to my newbie status I have not come across enough live videos. But since this topic seems to have already been discussed in past threads I'll take your word for it that Alizee does in fact sing during her concerts. 8)
That doesn't change what I said ^^ though. *Mumbling...*
Edit: Sorry for the double post. Not sure if that's against the rules.

I think I've seen nearly all her performances (not concerts). And I can count on my hand on which she sang live.
But I think it's the shows to blame she took part in that it's lipsynced so often and it's not lili's fault.
I don't think she exclusively wished to be lipsyned.
I heard a pretty good live bootleg from one of her concerts and there you can really hear her real voice.
It's a bit different than what you hear on the records. Of course she isn't a great singer, from a technical point of view.
I mean she is no Whitney Houston and you can hear that she lacks experience in live singing.
But her voice is really charismatic and sweet as sugar.

Yep, the Moi... Lolita TOTP Italy is a good one. Her voice sounds just fine. However, she doesn't dance around. I look at it this way, she can lipsync, dance and perform... or sing live and stay stationary or just walk around. As much as she has performed during her whirlwind career, and the dance routines she creates, I do not mind the lipsyncing at all.
It would take some bigtime endurance to dance her routines and sing live in every single event she has performed.
