Hullo !

I was on the forum of the alizée alliance and we were not able to say if "I'm fed up" or "I'm not 20" were released in Great britain. Can you help us ?

If they were not released, do you know why ?

Jaycubed

Sorry, coming from England, i can assure you both the songs were not released in the uk

the reason why, is the uk are so narrow minded, the majority of us weren't willing to accept a singer that does not sing in english as a mother tongue. Moi...Lolita got to no.9 in the uk charts and then L'Alizé didn't really get anywhere

Perhaps it was decided that realeasing these songs wouldn't be worth it over here, even though i think it definately would have been, i think it's a crying shame they didn't release the songs over here, but most of the people over here don't deserve it cos they are too narrow minded to welcome any over culture than English or American...

Stupid isn't it...you can see i'm angry and upset about it, i am one of the rare people from the uk who appreciates Alizée so much, and so many people here are pretty stupid in my opinion, anyway it's their loss, their HUGE loss

yep, its a shame it hasnt been released. It may.. in the future. I second think it will be huge in the UK. However, i think Sean has said all that needs to be said to your question .. :)

.... .... ......

and if a lot of english of this forum write to universal music or something like that ?? WE WANT ALIZEE'S NEW SINGLE

...I think it won't be enough but I don't find others solutions

ps:Do you think that "I'm not 20" is better than "I'm fed up!" for a single in England :?:

DavidAlizée
11th July 2004, 23:12
yep.. imo i think "I'm fed up" is better than "im not twenty" .. i do love them both, but i prefer listening to "I'm fed up" .. and i think both songs will be a big sucess over here. :P

Jaycubed

^i agree...they'd be a success cos i'd bankrupt myself buying so many copies of both of them :P

I like I'm fed up! more than I'm not twenty too... Maybe because it was first Alizee song which I heard..

She recorded songs in English because her team wasn't sure if her French songs following "Moi... Lolita" (i.e. singles from MCE) would be popular abroad, and also because she was taking English classes, so they figured, might as well take advantage of it. But they weren't expecting two things: one, that foreign audiences preferred the French versions anyway, even if they may not have really known what the lyrics meant; and two, MCE didn't do as well as expected in France, and apparently not in Germany either, so they may have figured that it wouldn't be wise to try their luck as far as releasing it in England.
I do agree with you though Julien, what good does it do to record a song in English and not even release it in English-speaking countries? :?

Manu
12th July 2004, 04:08
Yeah I agree with you guys. And I would dare to say that at least here in Spain, it's more or less the same if the lyrics are in English or French, not many people would understand them anyway...

represent, from da USA :p
Not a single person I know here has heard of Alizée, and not a single person here has any interest in foreign music, as none of them have any in their cd collections
ok, there was that one girl with shakira... but that's about it

anyway it's their loss, their HUGE loss

Heh, I know what you mean, but I can't imagine what Atlanta must be like these days, it seems to have become the new "Detroit." I live in Valdosta, and everything here is... well, Wal-Mart, Country, and R&B. Not too many interested in foreign ANYTHING, especially French considering the political orientation of the region (silly children, for being voters in this country...). Ironically, thanks to SAFT, we have a small French population in town. I once dated a girl who was French and her father was transfered here from France (talk about a culture shock).

But I never resist the chance to roll down my windows and let people around hear Alizée ;)

please release i'm fed up in the UK!!!

failing that, we should actually re-start that promotion campaign i started!! coz that's what makes all the radio stations take notice... and also leaflets promoting Alizée should be started as well!!! :P

DavidAlizée
13th July 2004, 16:53
^^.. yes exactly.. or we can send an EMAIL bomb to metro radio lol

But ur right. Radio stations do take notice of websites. I have phoned up the radio station where i live and asked him to play Moi Lolita about a year ago, and he did :) and that was a late night phone in though, at 10pm o somthing. Id like to see A contre-courant played on Metro FM or radio 1 in the morning.. but ill settle for "im fed up" :)

Or sign a partition to get it played and send it to a radio station.. or even better. send it to the producer to release it in UK.. if enough fans show how much they want it.

I too think "Moi...Lolita" should be re-released back in Britain! This time however it would go straight to Number 1...!!! :!:

Or even another song (I'm not 20 or I'm fed up!)

THERE SHOULD BE MORE FRENCH MUSIC ON BRITAIN'S RADIO!!!

DavidAlizée
18th July 2004, 01:45
yeah, i think so too. Moi lolita is such a good song!!! my second fav to acc.. but yeah.. i hope they release I'm fed up or I'm not twenty soon in UK.

UK Fan 2003

I hope they do release 'I'm fed up!' or any other English song. 'Moi..Lolita' got into the Top 10 and I think if Polydor were to release an English song, it would achieve higher ranks in the Top 10!!!

Lía
18th July 2004, 14:13
me too!!!

so what do u think us fans could do to help speed up the release of Im Fed Up in uk/eire??? ideas please!!! :D

DavidAlizée
18th July 2004, 14:15
i dont think it will ever get played in Eire now. In England there is a good chance i suppose. Emails and letters is the only thing we can do realy, the more the better.

Mr Bond
18th July 2004, 14:15
I wonder if she could record an English version of Moi Lolita that would be cool I think. I think UK and its people are gradually becoming more cosmopolitan so maybe there is hope yet. People need to get rid of their stereotypes of foriegn music/musicians.

DavidAlizée
18th July 2004, 14:18
i think an english version of Moi Lolita might take the majic out of the french one. Some classic songs are best left alone realy. But i do see where ur coming from.. maybe a new release of another Alizée song in English like Gourmandises would ne nice.

I don't think that the fact to ask to the radios "I'm fed up!" is a real solution... it's a good idea but not enough ! 8)

it would be better if everyone (of this forum and the forum of the alliance) send a mail to universal UK saying that we are waiting for Alizée's new single !
:cheesy:
We can add that this single when he was released in taiwan was number 1 ! We have to show that Alizée 's music is important for our culture ! :bounce:

As far as I am concerned I think that the idea of an english version of "gourmandises" is good ! but "I'm fed up!" is able to get a great success !

19th July 2004, 04:56
^you are so right, i think we should all send a mail saying oi, where's Lili's next single, everyone does it at the same time then well at least i'd hope they'd take notice and think about doing something....

I applaude you guy's for your tenacidy.

I'm fortunate enough to have found Alizee recently, and from the very few videos I've been able to see, I'm glad I did!

Unfortunately, I live waaay over here in the U.S Of A. So, getting my hands on her albums has proven to be a rather daunting task.

I guess the search continues. :type:

Anyway, no problem with the ebay links... I bought copies of those CDs from the same user just this past Tuesday. They we're shipped from Taiwan, so I haven't received them yet... but the seller looks very reputable and the price is nice.

Yes I am an American, and YEs im also ASIAN. Its rare to see Americans and English listen to other music because they are closed minded. I myself listen to all assortments, which my friends think is weird. HAHA ALIZEE IS THE BEST!!!

Well, I think that problem really stems from the fact that the USA and Britain both produce so much music from within their own borders (USA especially) that people don't even have the time to look outside for more. That, and none of the world music is played on the radio.

fallenONE
19th July 2005, 21:55
I agree because as an US teen....the only music is from within the US or England because the popular media never do foreign stuff nor do they try to support.

I never found out about Alizee till like 2 days ago...yeah thats how confined this seemingly open country is.

Ohh there are foreign artists but they are like Jamican and do reggae i.e. Sean-Paul

So yea......the hip hop dominate the music industry right now i.e. 50-Cent and lots of other rappers (I am fine with some rappers but overall its like this music is blah!)

So before Alizee I just listen to punk rock made by you guessed it! americans

America need a big change in its attidtude to foreign stuff..........

D13U
19th July 2005, 22:17
Yeah... now that I think of it, I hadn't really even heard any foreign music before Alizée. They're never on the radio, and I've yet to see anything in stores.

scorpio[pt]

maybe because the french language is not well acepeted in some countries like england , here in portugal the only frensh singers i now is alizee

and why not ...french is a beautiful language if you ask me ..why is not acepted?

fallenONE
20th July 2005, 17:19
Well some americans just find listening to a foreign language awkward.........I don't know.......also maybe because America has so many artists of their own...

Heck! I live in the US and I don't know why........mainly it's the music studios that make those decisions about publishing music over here........and they probably think that alizee won't do well or something? who knows......we should ask universal studios

D13U
20th July 2005, 17:25
In the US it's mostly because French is such a small minority. It's almost all English, and Spanish is second. French isn't very widely spoken here, except in a few areas.

fallenONE
20th July 2005, 17:35
There is a quite a couple Italians here, too and we never hear Italian pop.......

hmmm....maybe because all the foreigners are a couple generations removed from the people that actually immigrated here

tern
22nd July 2005, 06:44
It's strange what Alizée does to you. I think now about 70% of the music I listen to is from outside the USA, and not even a majority of that is Alizée. She, and even the people on this forum, are some of the best inspirations to reach out and listen to stuff outside these borders.

D13U
